Unfortunately, they have dropped their gourmet croissant basket from the menu. Was a favorite, unique dish.
Overall I liked the downtown location better but this is much quieter and nice view during the day. Food still rocks!
We had such a lovely lunch! It was my birthday and I felt really special eating there. Our waitress was so attentive and kept me supplied with cherries for my coke, which was such a treat for me. The dessert was quite delicious as well. I loved the ambiance and can't wait for a romantic evening with my honey!
Fun place, great venue/location. Owners are very involved in the Resturant.
Great food and service. The live jazz music was an added bonus!
We had a lovely time - celebrated my dad's 87th Birthday. Food was delicious. Staff was attentive and sweet - I think they had to re-do my dad's special dessert the grandkids had called in and ordered because he selected a creme brulee instead of the chocolate cake. They were super easy to work with (my daughter-in-law had called to make the arrangements for the cake and to pick up the tab and there was no problem.
At first I was bummed that they moved from their downtown Albany location but this new space is working well.
Decent venue, I preferred the old one downtown, however. This one needs some deeper cleaning. We were seated in a window seat, (nice) but greeted by a nasty spider web full of dead flies under it- yuck! Food was okay- better before the new fancy Chef, imo.
A great brunch, sat outside on the patio in the sunshine looking out over the 9th Fairway at the golf course, had a great brunch, super service, a very pleasant Sunday morning. Going back for the dinner and music soon.
We love Cellar Cat - exquisite food, excellent service, lovely environment!
Excellent food, loved the beet salad. Inventive cocktail, nice view onto the golf course. Fabulous, attentive service. Lemon curd for dessert out of this world.
We went to Celler Cat lateish on a Wed evening. We were the only ones there. We were treated just as courteously as if it has been 6:00 PM. The server was extreemly polite, friendly but not obtrusive, helpful and seemed eager to please. The food was excellent and creative
I highly recommend the pork tenderloin with Chineese 5 spices, it was outstanding.
The interior was beautifully decorated and of course, the cat theme was enchanting.
Service: Our server never informed us about the special dish of the evening and wasn’t knowledgeable about the wine list.
Food: Green beans were pretty much raw and the couscous was uninspired although the salmon was well cooked but no sauce. Basically the food seemed like someone didn’t put a lot of effort or thought into it.
The Golf Club was pleasant enough, service okay but food was something to be desired. I was excited to see the Golf Course have a restaurant, but that is as far as it goes. The waitresses were nice enough but not completely trained. First the Sangria they were offering at 10dollars a wine glass was out of a bottle and horrible. My husband and I met another couple there and two of the four of us ordered the Buttermilk fried Chicken over Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Delivered to them was Over fried- Chicken over FRIES! Waitress explained upon delivering no mashed potatoes tonight. I had Mussels which the base was cold and blan. My husband had a Clam and pasta dish which he said was OK. The only thing that was good the was the Caesar Salad.....guess we learn by trying something NEW. Note:Used this website and restaurant said they didn't have our reservation. Should of been a clue!!
We have eaten at the cat when it was downtown, The food was great and the ambiance lovely. Unfortunately, on Sunday night the live music was way, way too loud, Seriously, we had to speak loudly into eac other's ears to be heard. Restaurant music should be background music, not overwhelming. The chef salad was good, the steak and pear salad not so much, and the other entree just ok.
Love Cellar Cat. Great food, great cocktails, outstanding wine list. The servers are efficient, knowledgeable, and personable. It's always a great meal and a great experience.
This is a new location for Cellar Cat. We were there for an early dinner and found it to be quiet. The view from the dining area is of a beautiful golf course, adding to the ambience and the overall dining experience. Our food was good and the service excellent, with a friendly staff.
We had high hopes since we had been to Cellar Cat previously when it was on 1st street. The menu has since changed and although it all sounded delicious, our meals turned out less than stellar. The cheese board was rather lackluster and left a lot to be desired. All the other dishes were very plain and lacked a lot of flavor. Out of the six of us, three of us had our ordered screwed up. And while the waitstaff and the chef apologized for the mistakes and comped half of our meal ticket, we were all pretty disappointed altogether. The location and ambiance were beautiful, however. And I would definitely come back in the future for a glass of wine and just sit on the patio enjoying the view.
We went for an early birthday dinner. We arrived early for our reservation and had a great table overlooking the golf course waiting when we got there. I cant remember our server's name, but she was wonderful! I tried to upload pics of our wonderful meal, but unfortunately it isn't working from my phone. You'll just have to take my word for it when I say the mussels were some of the best I've had, and my husband steak was cooked perfectly and was delicious. They have an actual pastry chef in the kitchen who has a real knack for cheesecake. She also makes fresh ice cream daily (which we will have to try next time!). The only reason for the 4 stars was my pet peave of pasta clumped together in my clam fettuccine.
Overall, I thought the sockeye salmon was very good! For the price of this meal, I thought it should have come with a dinner salad or cup of soup.
New location, same great food and service!! Wonderful views out of the floor to ceiling windows, beautiful landscaping and views of the golf course. Menu provides a variety of options for all food preferences, extensive wine list and craft cocktails. Would definitely recommend.
We loved this restaurant in their former location! We are sad about their decision to move into a country club setting. The ambiance is terrible now, esp compared to the gorgeous location they were in before. The prices have gone up a bit. The meal I ordered was not as good as in the past. We will give them one more try, but I am not optimistic.
The old staff from the downtown Albany location has been replaced. The menu has not changed, but the the service was incredibly slow and there were numerous issue. One of us asked for a salad with no croutons. There were croutons in it - they had prepared the normal salad and removed the croutons. Another asked for French Onion Soup without the bread in it. It came with no cheese either! One of us asked for ketchup and had to ask twice. Another of us asked for coffee with milk. They received a cup of coffee and a full separate glass of milk. Seemed like completely inexperienced waitstaff . We liked the old Cellar Cat, and maybe this one will catch up, but meanwhile it is not recommended.
We went on the 29th of June and they had just opened. Bar wasn't stalked and the waiters were on overload so it took a bit to get service. We will try again tho"
I’ve been to Cellar Cat when they were downtown Albany, and it was very nice, food and service were quite good. This time we had a friend from Canada visiting, so we took her there for dinner. There was music (which I didn’t expect on a Thursday night)—it was nice, but very loud for the space and it made conversation a bit of a challenge. We had a reservation but waited quite a while for waiter to come (there seemed to be only two waiters and lots of customers, both inside and out on the patio. We placed our orders and we all ordered salads. It took over 30 minutes to get our salads, and the greens were very wilted and the portions were quite small for main-meal salads. Then we waited another very long time for the waiter to bring our bill, and when he finally brought it back, he had used my credit card for someone else’s bill and that person’s card for our bill. When I pointed that out to him, he said he knew exactly what happened and off he went to fix it. Another 15 or 20 minutes went by before it was all straightend out. All in all, I was very disappointed and a bit embarrassed to have told our guest how great it was going to be. I’m not sure I will go back. I liked the other location because it was more like a “cellar” and the cat artwork was very nice a well-placed. I saw only one picture in the new place and the whole Cellar Cat mood was missing. It didn’t help that I can get a fresher salmon salad at Burgerville for 1/3 the price.
Always able to find our favorite Austrian wine here. Excellent food -- fresh and innovative. The cheeseboard is a terrific dessert or just to linger over any time. Holly and Jim know what they're doing. Albany is lucky to have them.
One of our favorite places to eat. We go to Cellar Cat at least twice a month.
I have nothing negative to say about the service. Our server was helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable. However, the food left something to be desired. I ordered the brisket sandwich, which was extremely fatty. Two other guests had the chicken fried steak and both thought it to be fairly dry and flavorless. Drinks were good though!
Loved this spot- wonderful decor and ambience. GREAT wine list and knowledgable staff with good recommendations. Pricing seemed high- bottle of Italian wine $48... ratings show it should run around $23 to $25. Armujan Barbera d'Alba Superiore 2013. It was, however, a great wine. I'll come back to this spot.
Wait staff was attentive, though received a drink that was different from what was ordered. Waiter admitted some confusion about the menu. Chicken dish was plentiful - had to take 1/2 home. Lobster Mac and Cheese was OK but pretty bland. The setting is pleasant in an old downtown building that has been converted.
Took my mobility-impaired parents here for Sunday brunch. The staff was all very considerate, professional and good humored for early on a Sunday morning. We were seated immediately, in a convenient location, and attended to promptly. It's difficult to find places where I am comfortable taking my mobility impaired and hearing impaired elderly parents. The staff was very kind to all of us, making for an enjoyable visit. Oh - and the food was wonderful! Great variety, reasonable prices, large portions.
We went on my birthday they seated us by the music. We really enjoyed listening to lori. Our meal was really good. We would highly recommend them.
We arrived for an early Sunday brunch. The service was slow and the food was not well prepared. The biscuits were hard and greasy--like warmed over from yesterday. the pancake was thick and not thoroughly cooked. The fresh fruit was excellent and the coffee was very good. The service was sporadic, like they weren't ready for us. The seating was very good.
My friends came to visit and I took them to Cellar Cat. They set us up at the table I had requested, helped us pick a wine, and gave great service all night. We ordered pretty much the entire appetizer menu - and everything was delicious. Their french onion soup is amazing. There was no band that night, and noise level was low, a perfect place to catch up with friends.
I am never disappointed at Cellar Cat. And I always feel just a little spoiled. I bring out of town friends here and I’m also co for table dining alone.
My husband took me here for Mother's Day. It was our first time there and I was very excited! They offered a a three course meal for $36 a person. Our table was in a weird location (upstairs with not a nice ambiance) and the service was not good. We had to ask for water and coffee refills a few times and our first course dirty dishes sat on the table with us the whole time we were eating our main course and dessert. The price was very high for what we got and the food didn't come as described on the menu. For example, we did not get jam or cream with our scones as described. The scone was served cold and hard with butter and it was so tiny in size, like you could eat it in one bite. My main dish had good flavor but it was way over cooked and dry, it was quiche. The cheesecake dessert was good. The waiter got our bill wrong and charged my daughter as an adult after confirming with us her age, and he also charged us for drinks that were included (coffee and tea) in the $36 price. I love going out to eat and supporting the local community but this experience really was not a good one and we won't be going back.
We had a good time. They were very accommodating and our server checked in with us. They kept my water full and the food was very good.
Our server was great! Attentive but not too attentive. Took longer than we feel it should have to get our food-at least 45 minutes-and they weren’t that busy at the time.
Delicious food, friendly staff, and great atmosphere.
The service was excellent, and we much enjoyed the jazz duo. The space is pleasant; we enjoyed the view of the bar, musicians, and front windows from the back of the mezzanine. The food was simple and satisfying. My husband especially liked his hamburger.
Service was fantastic, as always. Friendly staff. Great food. Lovely drinks.
