Lauren, our waitress, was amazing and made the dining experience perfect enough to compliment the meal.
Great place for an office lunch. The food was great and the menu was good for our group with some dietary restrictions. The vegan menu is a great option, and other interesting game meats rounded out the menu. There's something for everyone. It wasn't too pricey but the ambiance was good. Would recommend.
I met an out of town guest for Bruch at Cedar. I had only been there once many years ago. The restaurant was very quiet on a Saturday, leaving me to want to urge people to go there and keep it in business.
The menu had some intriguing options and the small dining room is artfully arranged. But I want to praise most highly our server, whose name I did not get. This young woman showed patience and good humor with my friend who has a long list of health related food concerns (my friend tries to find humor and graciousness as well). She did an excellent job of making suggestions and accommodating her needs in the way the extremely tasty elk sliders were delivered. My non-negotiated eggs benedict on potato crusts was light and delicious.
I look forward to when I can go again.
came here really looking forward to trying the vegan options, had heard good things. Ordered the ravioli as that was recommended and loved it. The vegan ceser was good and liked it because you can't find it many places, but it wasn't outstanding. Also, saved room for dessert because its hard to say no to a place that offers vegan dessert, however was a little disappointed with the blueberry and pecan bar thingy, it was dry and not worth the splurge I was hoping for. ps. loved the white cranberry champagne and will be back soon to try out the vegan brunch.
We celebrated our 30 year retirement at Cedar and were amazed by the quality of the exceptional food (appetizers, entrees, and desserts) and the impeccable service. We enjoyed a perfect evening! Thank you to everyone at Cedar!
Our server was this fabulous, FABULOUS woman who was so kind and literally ran back n forth from the kitchen to our table to check ingredients as I have quite a list of allergies. She went above and beyond and the restaurant itself was tasty and accommodated both my plant-based lifestyle AND my boyfriend’s strictly carnivorous diet, which is always a treat for us!
A slow start turned into a very enjoyable event MG with good food an ambience.
I love the vegan menu.
We've reviewed Cedar before. This was our third time and we were not disappointed. They always seem to be evolving in nice and surprising ways. The waiters are all quite friendly and helpful.
We had a large group and were seated in an area off to the side. The background music was a little loud but the crowd noise from the other seating area was perfect and the setting was perfect for a larger group conversation. The food was great. Smaller portions but unbelievably good!
Great vegan menu. Decor is boring and dated so don't come for that.
It's not them, it's me: the stuffed quail was a bit complicated and was OK. (I'm old.) What was outstanding was the service: Noticing that my dining partner was less than enthusiastic about her dessert, our server happily offered to strike the charge from our bill...even after we insisted on paying for it. She was never "hello-my-name-is" in-your-face, but gracious, welcoming and attentive. I like the small dining room and will be back many times going forward.
We ordered the pre-theater 3-course wine pairing dinner. Food and service was excellent and we will be returning again.
A refreshing diverse menu in a cozy environment. Not far from the mall and a treat for tourists and residents alike. This farm to table menu did not disappoint. Inventive dishes teased the appetite and the food was scrumptious. Wait staff was very attentive and pleaseant.
Amazing service with a surprisingly diverse menu that offers locally sourced foods for the omnivore and the vegan. Some notable gems on the wine list too!
Cedar is a very nice restaurant, but it could be better. The food is good, but the side dishes need work. And I hope that they take the next step, because it has much potential. It is also very good that they are very careful with diners with food allergies, and that’s a big plus.
Great service! Our server Kevin was super attentive and really made my husbands birthday dinner special.
We have been to Cedar before a show twice. Lauren our server is tops!
Fantastic restaurant. The ambiance is great -- small, intimate, attractive decor, appropriate lighting not too bright, not to dim). It's was nice to be someplace for a change where you can have a conversation without shouting. The menu has an interesting and diverse selections ranging from vegan to game meat. The food was well prepared and presented and very tasty. There was also a good selection of cocktails and wines. Perhaps best of all was he service -- very friendly, attentive, and cheerful. I would definitely recommend Cedar to those looking fro a good meal in an pleasant, intimate setting.
Excellent pre-theater menu - bacon wrapped pork tenderloin was a huge hit with the table and Laura's service was exceptional. Great for a quiet dinner with my older parents who are sensitive to background noise.
excellent for a group business dinner. gorgeous lamb, fish, good value. great people, lovely wine and great to be able to speak to each other......
super attentive service
Great food and service. Particularly good for vegans.
Really enjoyed our meal! The mahi mahi was cooked perfectly. Best cappuccino ever!
good food, good drinks, appreciate the delicious mocktail. Lamb chops mmm. Host was great - waitress was sweet but thought she was being comically ironic. My friend thought she was a bit pushy. But her recommendations were on point, so I can't complain. I will go back, maybe for brunch.
Pre-theater dinner. Food was excellent: cold asparagus soup and broiled lobster and mushroom main course. Wonderful! Portion size was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.
Friends from out of town. We had theater tickets (Woolly Mammoth Theater nearby) performance at 8:00. We wanted a place with reliably good food and quiet enough to be able to hear one another. We all ordered from the special menu designed for pre-performance. Good choices.
Attentive waitstaff, good food, we were all pleased with both food and wine choices.
At Happy Hour the pre-theater option was worth enduring the noise from the bar. Interesting combinations of game (pheasant, quail, rabbit) and fixed price menu choices make it attractive. Limited but reasonably priced drink offerings. Overall the right mix of casual and innovative dining for two couples
We are sure to visit Cedar whenever we come to DC. We are vegans and they have wonderful vegan options clearly indicated on their menu. Reasonably priced and the service is always wonderful. I highly recommend it to my vegan friends!!!
My wife and I went for her birthday dinner. The atmosphere, service and food were all great. It's difficult at times to find restaurants that cater to vegan/vegetarian lifestyles and she was well pleased. She said, "We will definitely eat there again". A must try, "The Crispy Risotto Bites". I loved the food!
Not good for brunch.
Came here for my significant other's birthday. Service was great -- friendly, responsive, and helpful. The food was good if not outstanding. The scallops appetizer was excellent, and the crab pasta entree dish was small but tasty. Drinks were a bit pricey but worth it. The bartender stopped by our table to check in and see how we liked them. Overall would definitely recommend Cedar for a nice date night out or group get-together.
Outstanding service. We were greeted immediately. The hostess was friendly and efficient. Food was ellegant; well prepared.
We enjoyed the pre-theatre menu before heading to Shakespeare theatre. I was so impressed by the service and the great selection of pre fixe options. They had excellent french press coffee to go with the delicious desserts
We were a family group coming together from out of town and nearby. The atmosphere was nice but we requested rearranging the long table to make it easier to talk and they said they would but never did. The food looked lovely but was not hot and did not taste nearly as good as it looked. But it served its purpose. Truthfully we chose it because by the time we were ready to reserve the restaurants we preferred did not have room at the time we needed.
Small and cozy, strategically located, very nice service, large and varied menu with some very creative and exotic dishes, excellent wine selection. We all really liked our meals, all three courses. I'd definitely recommend it.
Wonderful food and service. Hostess was sweet and accommodating.
We went to Cedar before a theater performance. We arrived at the restaurant 1 hour and 45 minutes before curtain, and our party all ordered from the pretheater menu. The waiter ignored us for the first twenty minutes we were there and we did not get our meals for an hour. When we asked about our food the host was very rude, and was later as we rushed out after finishing our dessert. He remarked that he didn’t care about bad online reviews. The food was wonderful, but we all know that rude servers and hosts can ruin a meal.
they have several vegan selections - not sure why they do not show up on the online menu but there is a section of the menu dedicated to vegan dishes! so nice to find a dine in restaurant that’s not fast casual for a lovely vegan meal!
Nice selections, with enough variety to please the various palates and preferences of most groups. Background music allowed quiet and private conversation. Nice date location.
The food and service was great at Cedar. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. They remembered our anniversary and brought us our dessert with a special plate acknowledging our anniversary. We will definitely go there again someday. We highly recommend Cedar.
