OpenTable doesn't specify that the restaurant is divided into 2 different menus/spaces. Disappointed upon arrival as we weren't able to have the French meal we had anticipated. Even more disappointed when the wine menu didn't match AT ALL what Cavey's has online (ie, more than triple the prices in some cases). Space is quaint and warm but service was next to invisible. We ordered two fine wines from the French wine list (at least they accommodated for this as the Italian menu wasn't great). Settling in, we waited quite some time for our appetizers and requested bread (other diners received a basket of bread immediately on seating). We then proceeded to wait another full hour for our main course. We watched as other diners received their meals (a couple next to us sat down halfway through our wait and had finished their steaks before we got our food). The server came twice in this hour to nervously check on us and to let us know the food is coming. The main courses were good, except I was surprised that the lobster gnocchi was cooked with bell peppers when there is no indication of peppers in the description, which is odd given the dominant flavor of cooked peppers. Half of the table doesn't care for peppers so the entree went mostly uneaten. Overall, disappointed in the service, food, and misleading menus and reservations.

This was my second visit to Cavey's. My girlfriend and I had tried the French menu on our first visit and were completely satisfied by the dining experience. Our recent visit to sample the Italian menu was just as terrific except our server could not get our main course to us in a timely manner. The meal took 2.5 hours to complete and we were not given the option of dessert! I had to ask after quite a wait to get a second glass of wine after our server went past our table several times to serve other customers. Two tables that were seated and ordered after us were finished before we got our entrees. Hopefully this was just an off night for this one server.

My wife and I went to Cavey's the weekend of Valentine's day. We at downstairs where french food is served. The dining room was dim and lit mostly by candles, which gave the room it a very romantic feel. There was a special 3 course menu. The selections were great! We really enjoyed the black bass chowder as well as Veal Panache and Cassoulet. We will definitely be back. Make sure to make a reservation!

We had an early night now so the restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. We sat at the bar for several minutes before being greeted to have a drink before dinner. Drinks were fine but it again took several minutes for the bartender to notice we were ready to pay and move to the dining room in spite of the bar area being mostly empty. The dining experience was fine; ambiance, server, etc were all fine, nothing exceptional. The appetizers were where we were thrown off. My beef carpaccio was good, but my wife’s pear salad was very odd. The lettuce or some other component of the salad was so heavily wood smoked it ate like you were chewing on charcoal. The main courses were also good, scallops and pork 2 ways, although like the appetizer i felt the pork tenderloin was also very heavily wood smoked, my wife insisted she felt otherwise. The braised pork was excellent. Sea scallops were good, not great but good. Desserts were good, chocolate and apple tarts. My wife thought the chocolate was a bit rich but i thought both were very well done. In fact the apple tart was some of the flakiest crust i have had in some time. Overall, for the price and reputation of Caveys I would say it didn’t seem to live up to the hype. I just have experienced better nights out, at similarly priced establishments that are not nearly as highly regarded as caveys.

Northern italian cuisine done very well. Portions only seemed small if you are accustomed to being a glutton.

We dined on Valentine’s Day. The entrance way has the smell of fresh apples, which was delightful. We had a dinner reservation and we were seated at our table right away, which was appreciated. The food was excellent. The ambiance was very nice. The only downside was that the service was a little bit on the slow side. Despite the slow service, we would definitely go back again.

We have gone to Cavey’s every V Day for years. The ambience is romantic and the food is usually excellent. This year we were a bit surprised at the lack of attentiveness in our waiter.

We came here last year for Valentine’s Day and it was great. Came back this year and very disappointed. Food was ok, menu seemed to be the exact same. Server was great, however the Maitre d was extremely rude and pompous. He embarrassed us in front of the entire restaurant because there was a miscommunication about the kind of wine we ordered. Instead of being helpful and suggesting other similar types of wine he loudly chastised us. Will not return.

Caveys offers French and Italian restaurants however open table defaults to Italian making it difficult/impossible to book French restaurant when it’s available. Experience was good, but dessert arrived cold, wine was mixed up at the end which detracted somewhat from an otherwise great experience
