Excellent food as always! Service is always good but we had the best server we've ever had there.
His knowledge of the menu and recommendations were spot-on!
Came for my husband’s birthday and he was not happy with his food . He order the Beachcomber , food was bland and had no seasoning . He sent it back and just got a burger instead .
Great food great service, I would definitely go again
It was very romantic atmosphere was nice, exactly what I was looking for on Valentine's Day!! The food was great service was great beautiful scenery. Waitress was wonderful the chefs were great!! Overall very nice!!!
It was both of our first times dining there. The live music overpowered a lot of the noise level, but we enjoyed it. They then started to play regular music, which I enjoyed. The food was good, we weren’t used to fine dining. The cost was very high, as expected. One thing I took note of (and I could be wrong) we were automatically charged gratuity which was applied to our total (as to be expected with the total cost) but the couple next to us was not. I could have read things wrong, but it caused me to feel as though we were somehow judged based on our appearance or being younger. We didn’t let it ruin our night though. I was still happy to pay the original gratuity and then I tipped the waiter additionally (which I didn’t have to but I was happy to because he did a great job). Probably won’t go back, but it’s a great experience to have once in a lifetime.
Returned for our second time to partake in their Valentine’s Day special menu. The ambiance was special, the service very attentive and the food selection was delicious. The dessert was only average and I was most disappointed in the lack of special little things for the price tag. At $89 a person I would have expected a nice glass of champagne or even a flower for my wife on the way out. But was just the three course menu. Think i’ll be looking for a place with a more special touch for next years valentine’s day $200 night out.
I would definitely tell anyone how disappointed I was when I took family to Catch 31 on Valentine’s Day and found they only had a price fixed menu without the items which I had desired. I should have been told this when I made reservations by calling the restaurant directly well in advance. While the food and the service were good they were not worth over $600 for 5. Also, told that the following night would be regular menu and, again, they had the same price fixed menu from the night before but did have a very limited bar menu, as well. Again, I was unable to get the items that I really wanted. I anticipate that I will not stay at the Hilton again and I will not eat at Catch 31 again. I admit that I had previously enjoyed eating at Catch 31 very much.
We came for Valentine’s Day and had great service but the food was lackluster. My steak was very undercooked, and tasteless sides. Did not live up to the cost
It was a fantastic birthday dinner for my wife. She has always wanted to try it and everything was perfect! I’ve eaten there a few times and it never fails to impress. Great food! Great service!
Few menu choices, chef is trying to be NY and he ain't
It is the off season for Virginia Beach but I still really enjoyed the restaurant. The staff was plentiful and very friendly. Great seafood options. I enjoyed the calamari. Look forward to going back when I am in town next.
Great service, attentive but not too over the top and in your face. Andre was a great waiter and explained the options clearly and recommended items which was really helpful.
Food was excellent, children's fish was really good.
My husbands 70th birthday. Our server was great....attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the meal (whole Red snapper) was tasteless and the vegetables were undercooked. They advertised a new menu and chef. Not impressed with either.
Not only a great place to enjoy an evening with friends and family, but just as good for a nice evening with someone special. Have been here multiple times and will return again. Have never had bad food or service!
The oysters on the half-shell were fresh, plump, and salty - the dinner came out hot and delicious
Excellent service by Andre, who knew the menu very well. Fresh, local ingredients.
We will definitely return.
Great service and good food. It's definitely a nice hotel restaurant. The food was above par when compared with traditional hotel restaurants, especially since the fresh seafood bar looked amazing. EVerything was cooked to order. Our server, Nicole was very nice and friendly and helpful and well versed in the menu options.
Food and service were very good. We have been here several times before and quality is consistent. Cheesecake seems to get a little smaller every year. Our table was in a row with other tables only about 18" apart which makes for little privacy and hinders conversation when it is so easy to hear other people talking so close to us. That is why I rated ambiance lower.
It was fine. Typical fancy experience at the oceanfront, nothing extraordinary.
Christmas Day.. Food was OK but Waiter was not attentive and had a BAD ATTITUDE..., waited far too long for basic wait staff functions. Our entire group had to wear their winter coat during dinner because it was freezing in the Restaurant. People entering and exiting multiple doors and holding open left us feeling like we were outside. Far too many doors open to the outside. Many others around us also were wearing heavy coats and even some wore stocking hats at the dinner table.. RIDICULOUS !!!
In my opinion, if you want a scenic place to drink, Catch 31 is where you should go, because alcohol is what this place does best. If you’re looking for a raw bar, appetizers, or creative choices for lunch, you’ll be satisfied. Don’t order anything with rice, though. The kitchen doesn’t seem to know how to cook rice and that it shouldn’t be crunchy.
Great waitress, food well prepared and presented. Overall, lovely experience which is quite surprising considering it is in a hotel.
Great dining experience. Service is outstanding and efficient. Seafood Tower is worth the 50. price with lots of delicious seafood. Excellent seafood choices, fresh and tasty 😋 Special occasion place, or just out for a great dining experience. Highly recommend 😊
The staff and service were very friendly. A bit noisy due to the open floor plan but still an enjoyable evening.
We had a great time for our 1st Wedding Anniversary!!
My wife and I visited Catch 31 for our Saturday night date. Our waiter Steven delivered attentive and professional service. The tuna tasted like it was caught fresh that day. They offer 3 different cooking methods. I selected wood fire grilled and it was excellent. The oysters from the raw bar were delicious also. We will definitely return next time we visit Virginia Beach.
Fantastic food and outstanding service. I started with a mixed greens salad and bread. The salad was dressed nicely with a tangy lemon vinaigrette and the bread was slightly crusty and served with real butter at just the right temperature. I ordered a glass of St Supery Sauvignon Blanc which paired nicely with yellowfin tuna. I got the tuna prepared with the bronzed option at a rare temperature. It was cooked to absolute perfection and accompanied by yummy mashed sweet potatoes and kale for sides. Scottie was my server and provided outstanding service, hitting that sweet spot of coming by just enough to ensure my needs were being met but not so much as to be irritating. He was friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable regarding my questions about the menu items. If I’m ever in the area again, I will return.
The food was amazing. The oyster Rockefeller was delicious!
Great staff! Personalized service and friendly. Love the cake too.
Great service, great food, and very enjoyable atmosphere for dinner. Outside entertainment is a terrific experience when the weather is nice.
Thanks for great meal.
for the sub par food the price is outrageous. but the service was great and the atmosphere was nice
My husband and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary dining at Catch 31. The food was amazing! The service was outstanding! We will definitely come back and have another meal here soon!
We had a wonderful dinner at Catch 31, which, we found out, was not to be a common occurrence for us in Virginia Beach. We had a couple truly awful meals at other restaurants, but Catch 31 made sure it wasn't strike three for us. My wife's Alaskan king crab legs were huge and flavorful, and my filet mignon was perfectly cooked and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful, never letting our drinks get empty, and always friendly and pleasant. The lighting was subdued, but not dim, making for a wonderful, warm ambiance. Definitely the best dinner by far on our trip. It wasn't cheap, but after paying only slightly less for two meals I wouldn't feed to my dogs, it seemed like a pretty good value.
Fish and Chips for lunch. Catfish was great, portion was not. Calamari was almost a thumbs down...... fried just too much........we thought.
The staff was lovely but the restaurant lost our reservation the. Seated us and the bathroom lady was rude.
Our server was knowlegable and friendly. Service was prompt.
Great food, great service, beautiful views, fun atmosphere.
Had a perfect meal. Waiter Ryan was top notch. Steamed shrimp cooked to perfection. They even gave us an anniversary dessert which was the best chocolate cake of my life. We love it here.
I had mussels and a crab cake. The mussels were good but small. I did enjoy the fennel in the sauce. The crab cake was very disappointing. There was a lot of filler or lower quality crab. Not lump crab. In addition, they served the vegetables in this corn purée butter clump. It was bad. The service was good. She went beyond to try and help the poor quality food. I would not go out of my way to go back.
