I really thought there was potential here based on some previous reviews, but our experience was awful. Bad food. Bad service. Bad attitude by the entire staff hat seemed bothered to even be there. This place is a Sh*t-hole. Probably safer to eat out of a dumpster. This area is gorgeous and fun. This place needs fixing.

The conch chowder is what made me rate the food a 4. As soon as we sat down, we got attacked by bugs, they’ve got bug spray but by the time we got ours we were both bit up. Service: it’s island time, pretty slow, had 4 different people wait on us, water sat empty for half the meal. Drinks: we each ordered a cocktail and they used way too much simple syrup. Food: crab dip, bland. Conch chowder: rich, creamy, tasty, but $10 for a tea cup full. Pork belly, fried plantains, cooked to perfection. Ambiance: we arrived at the end of happy hour and were the only people. Their web site says live music, it was a DJ. More tables started coming in 6-7pm, the music got so loud we couldn’t think. Planned to have drinks and enjoy what we thought would be a live acoustic show of sorts, but opted to bar hop and grab our drinks elsewhere.

Fish was overcooked and over sauced which makes us think they’re trying to mask poor quality, outdoor kitchen was filthy as were restrooms. We would never return.

The food was excellent! I had the fish of the day, which was snapper and I chose blackened. It was amazing. My husband had a salad with blackened shrimp, again, amazing! The only issue was that when our food was delivered the flies descended- and I mean a LOT of flies. The waitress brought a small flame, which helped some, but we had to eat fast and keep waving them away.

This was one of the worst tourist traps we have eaten at.! Don’t be fooled by the location and appearance. The longest time the waiter spent with us was to stand over us for the tip and check. We watched two other guests get frustrated, paid for his drinks and walked out. The waiter spent more time worried about his tip and check too. I commend him for walking out, while we sat and suffered. The place wasn’t even half full. If it’s busy prepare to spend the night.

My daughter and I had a good meal at Castaways. It was a fun atmosphere. I was disappointed with the conch wontons. They were cold in the middle, and the wonton wrappers were not crisp. My daughter had a chicken Alfredo pasta that she enjoyed, and I had the Catch of the day with coconut curry, which was tasty. Overall ok food with a fun ambiance.

Food was okay. Really wanted our conch fritters for the appetizer and she never put the order in. But it was ok overall. Any dinner in TCI is better than at home.
