   We sat outside and the view was not that great- a lot of trailers on the canal. We did see a manatee drinking water from a pipe (plus #1). I had a martini that was properly made (plus #2). Our server had to Google items on the menu when we asked what it was (the fake crab). She said the management did not really train her - just said - here’s the menu. Learn it. We ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and it was such a disappointment- actually wait - it was insulting. The macaroni was not baked - it was a wet sauce lacking in flavor but the lobster was overcooked and dry. It was clearly prepared ahead of time. For $47, I expected way more for this dish. For being a DDD featured dish, they must have changed the recipe. What a shame. We wish we ate dinner somewhere else.

   Have eaten there several times and this time was a struggle. Probably just a bad night for them. Bar and Kitchen were backed up. Food came out slow. Boiled shrimp were overcooked, lobster enchiladas were good, oysters were very good, Drinks were so-so. I have eaten there before and it was very good. We will go back again.

   Fast, courteous service on our orders. Food was homemade and well-prepared. We did several sushi rolls and some Nigiri. All was delicious and fresh. Definitely on the list for dining out in the future.

   Sushi was good. Service very good. Ordered 6 oysters but got 5 and an empty shell. Overall decent but nothing out of this world. Very expensive for what you’re getting.

    Service was great and the sushi was good. However, I our entrees were not good at all. I do not recommend the crab cakes or the enchiladas. Both were bland and underwhelming. I have never had a crab cake that bad or an enchilada so bland.

    The wreckdiver style hogfish, tuna poke, and coconut key lime pie were all excellent. Our server Sam was pleasant and efficient. The drinks were great and the company of a manatee made it special!

    Second time was as good as the first - Golden Tile and Pompano. Excellent! At first appearance a bit skeptical because of the neighborhood - but a fantastic find - will always go back… I hope they never change it. Manatee’s and Floridian romanticism at its finest.

    Great food and great service. Only problem I had was with the sushi roll with tuna. I'm used to ahi tuna and did not like the tuna they used. Will definitely go back.

    The food was good however even though our server “held” our order, the food was delivered before we had finished our appetizer, the crab queso. I had grouper Oscar style, and the grouper was overdone and there was no lump crabmeat, but rather a crab stuffing on top with limited sauce. Overall, the meal felt rushed like they were trying to quickly turn the table. Parking is limited.

    4 in our party. Had an incredible experience. Brian was our server. He had so great menu knowledge and recommendations. Cocktails were on point, food was absolutely delicious. Good also came quickly, but Brian let us know that ahead of time and did not make us feel rushed. We will definitely be back next time we are down. FYI we ordered: shrimp tempura roll, fish dip, hogfish Oscar style, hogfish wreck-diver style & shrimp linguine with butter, wine, garlic. All so YUM!

    Doing sushi in the keys was maybe a bad idea. The Lion roll was the best roll out of 3 we had and the fish was fresh but the sushi rice was way over cooked and/or didn’t feel fresh. Service was 5 star and we sat in the open air areas which was nice. Maybe I was disappointed when someone had wrote “best sushi ever” - I don’t think that person has much sushi experience.

    If it was not for the sweet waitress we would have walked out without ordering. Dirty walls and plates. I wanted to try this place because it was on Diners Drive-ins and Dives but it was not what I expected at all looking the website. I hate leaving a bad review but want to be honest.

    Our group tried the shrimp burritos, grilled hogfish, grilled swordfish & 2 different sushi rolls (spicy tuna & spider). The fish and burritos were well received by all although the hogfish was a little over cooked. The sushi, unfortunately, was just ok. Very, very small pieces of actual fish, no spice in the spicy tuna & did not appreciate the additional “crunchy” stuff they put on top, soggy soft shell crab in the spider roll and it was all room temp at best (appreciate colder sushi, especially raw fish). It didn’t taste bad, it’s on the pricier side, but it was a very decent portion. I don’t think we would get sushi again there. 2 of us had a beer on tap and I had a glass of wine. The glass was a very measured, 4-5oz pour which I find a little off putting when charging $13 for a glass of Kim Crawford that can be purchased for $15/bottle. If they poured a better glass, I would have had 2 :) Still, it was mostly a very good meal, the service was good & although located in a less attractive area, it’s quite nice inside.     First time at Castaways after numerous friends recommended it. We celebrated my husband's birthday and enjoyed the BEST smoked Wahoo fish dip, tuna nachos, Black Grouper (prepared Wreckdiver style) and Golden Tile (prepared Mazatlan style). We love smoked fish dip and try it at every restaurant in Florida (Keys to all along the Gulf Coast) and can honestly say this is now our favorite fish dip here at Castaways!

    The service was excellent. Kathleen was our server and so attentive to our needs. All the meal are brought out by the exec chef and owner which is a nice touch. The food was phenomenal. Had the Tile fish which was prepared perfectly. Will definitely be back

    I ordered the rib eye medium rare and it came out dry and over done. Last time we were there I had to send back the prime rib because it was over done and EXTREMELY tough. Will stick with the fish next time. Service was very good and timely.
