Casta's Rum Bar
The moment a guest walks in the door, they feel the warmth, spirit, and upbeat energy of Cuba, which has been recreated here. From the visual aesthetic, to the food, cocktails, music, and hospitality culture– every detail has been considered.
Casta’s offers a robust menu of Cuban favorites - a cuisine known for
fresh seafood from the Caribbean, flavorful spices, and a heavy Spanish influence. The star of the menu is the Classic Cuban Sandwich with yellow mustard, roasted pork, glazed ham, swiss cheese and pickles – which Castaneda has spent hours honing and developing. The secret is in the bread, which is flown in from Miami. Additional menu highlights include Empanadas, Croquetas, and Ceviche Caribeno with citrus, mango, pineapple, cucumber
salad, and plantain chips.

When we got there we asked to be moved to a table outside. The table was reversed and an hour later got go moved. The table where we were moved was on the smokers side and the smell was terrible. All of us ordered empanadas and they took an hour to get to us! They were good but nothing crazy. 20% gratuity is automatically added onto every check in which is probably why they don’t care about their service.
Overall, food was really good and the rum menu expansive. The Cuban and Empanadas, were outstanding. They have cigars as well, our group tried 3 of the ~6 they have and we were all impressed with the quality. Servers were attentive and generally very good. Only odd thing about the cigar part is there was no ash tray. They gave a small serving bowl, but when I had to use the restroom there was no where to set the cigar, had to turn over my water glass. I noticed another customer with a cigar and he had to knock his ashes on the floor of the outside patio. Just weird for a cigar spot. Other than that the experience was very good.
Francisco and Tati were amazing!
We had such a great time, we’ll be back
Awesome to hang out and start the night to get in the mood..
Food was absolutely delicious! It's always a guaranteed great time here.
I had great experience at Casta’s and plan to be coming back there for years to come!!
Had a cool vibe, great Latin music but no space to dance, waiter was nice but is was busy and seemed to forget us, the food was average, Sunday has a short brunch menu. Frozen drinks were very tasty. Good for ladies night.
Good food, great drinks, fun vibe. Wait staff worked their butts off but were severely under-staffed, not their fault.
Great food and music. Great service, friendly staff
I was disappointed about the brunch menú. Very limited options with just some sandwiches, empanadas and frittatas( Any Healthy option) maybe the dinner menu could be a little bit better. The customer service very poor, maybe they should have more employees because of the amount of people that were there. The environment is pretty and spacious and I personally think this place could be better as a bar and not for restaurant. Overall I think there are better brunch options on this city
We had made a reservation, which was honored when we arrived. However, upon arrival, we had trouble tracking down our waiter. This occurred consistently throughout brunch. When we were finally able to get our drink and food orders in. Our food came out before our drinks ever did. We finally see our server handing our pitcher to another table so we had to wave him down to let him know that was the drink we had been waiting for. The monitor pitcher tasted like mostly lemonade and mint (hardly any alcohol). Finally, we decided to check out and leave to another bar. The next day, one of us gets charged TRIPLE what we actually ordered on her card. Needless to say, it’ll take a lot to bring me back.
The place wasn't very welcoming at all. Stood at the door for well over 15mins waiting on the hostess to return to her station. Our server was not friendly, did not come back to take our order. Had 1 drink and left.
This place is amazing, but understandably service gets super slow because of how busy this place is. Super cool place. Wish they had more servers. Even obviously under pressure, my server was kind and answered me when I needed something.
This was a really terrible experience all around. I don’t know what was going on at this place (the wait staff never apologized or gave an explanation), but we will likely never go back. This was the buzz kill of the week.
We had a table of 6. Waited about 30 minutes from the time we ordered each pitcher of mojitos until we actually received them. We would have had a lot more drinks if they didn’t take so long to arrive. We had time before our show for another round of drinks, but we left because we knew we couldn’t risk waiting another 30 mins for a pitcher because we had a show to catch.
At one point, when the food finally started to arrive, we had to wait 10-15 minutes in between receiving each new plate. We ordered all the food at the same time, but then when the food arrived we first received two sandwiches, waited 10 mins and received another sandwich, then some more time passed and got another 2-3 plates, waited more and then finally got the rest of the food. We literally shared plates with each other that we didn’t intend to share because we were all starving and if we had waited for all food to arrive before starting then it would have all been cold. In between waiting for plates to arrive, the waitress stopped by and asked us what we were missing. Then she asked us the same question again. I’m not sure why we had to explain this to her so many times. I just really can’t believe we got no explanation or apology for the way we were treated. I’m not sure what we did wrong to deserve this.
Great atmosphere and delicious drinks! Would definitely recommend.
I was super excited to take my friends here as I have been seeing their sponsored posts on Instagram. The first table they sat us on was next to a puddle of water that kinda smelled but the hostess was really nice and seated us at another table. Our waitress was quick but didn’t take any notes so missed one of our orders. The kitchen staff who brought the wrong order out insisted that we ordered it even when we confirmed that we did not order that. When our waitress returned, we asked her about the order and she said the kitchen was working on it but we literally saw her put in the order in her iPad while we were asking her. Anyways, she came back about 15mins later and said that they already brought it out. We told her about the confusion and she said okay, no apologies or anything. They finally brought the correct order out. Literally 5mins later, it started flooding in the area we were seated because of the rain. Our waitress came by 5-10mins into the flooding to ask if we wanted to order anything else 🙃 She didn’t acknowledge the flooding or apologized for the mess we were in. I completely understand it was out of her control but an acknowledgment would have been appreciated. Another waitress came by a few mins later and apologized and offered to seat us inside and also brought us an extra pitcher of mojito, this was a nice gesture and very much appreciated.
I was disappointed in how the night turned out. I would not try to reserve patio if there is even a slight chance of rain or rained the day before.
The camarones and barrachas were both very good. I also enjoyed my cocktail. I'd like to return to try some of the sandwiches.
Very authentic food and feel. When they are back at full capacity it will be amazing I’m sure
Great experience, went for brunch and felt a little rushed when asked for our plates and we were still eating.
Its a great date night spot. The food was delicious and the drinks were good. I would definitely go back again.
Casta's Rum bar is a fun place on the weekends. I was just there for a going away party and we had a very good experience. Despite being very busy, the service was very good. We ordered an assortment of small plates and everything was good. I highly recommend the ribs, empandas and the yuca fries.
It is a cigar bar so it does get smokey and you have to account for that. It does get lively so it can be loud as well.
Had no available table to accommodate reservation, sat us at the bar.
Cool building and ambiance.
The food was delicious - we'd never had yuca fries before but are big fans now. Our only disappointment was that the current covid 19 restrictions prohibited us from enjoying cigars as part of the experience.
Casta’s Rum Bar is a fantastic place to grab a drink with friends. Sunday is back to having a DJ, so that is a plus. Brunch menu is small, but definitely can find something.
Our waitress was absolutely awful. Terrible attitude. My boyfriend had to get up on 2 occasions to order drinks and then food because she wouldn’t even come to the table. Worst off— gratuity of 18 or 20% INCLUDED. She didn’t deserve it at all
Lovely ambiance, it feels very jovial when you enter.
WORST CUBAN BAR/RESTAURANT EVER! Rude service. Food is not authentic. Bar tender makes drinks like an amateur. Portions are tiny and overpriced for the quality. Limited menu. All staff seemed miserable, management probably treats them badly. Even the music quality was so poor it simply sounded like noise. Save your money and go elsewhere!
Would've been a better time if we had a bigger table appropriately sized for my party of 5 reservation. Other than that, it was a good time good service.
The ambience is really why you would come to Casta's rum bar. They have what feels like outdoor spaces, but covered with glass ceiling. It almost feels as if you are somewhere tropical. The live DJ sets also add to this casual party vibe.
The service is ok. They completely forgot about our mimosas pitcher order, and honestly was not worth the $50 price point for a carafe of orange juice and some bubbles. Their brunch food was ok -- I don't think it warranted the high cost they charged.
I would recommend coming here for drinks only.
The “outside” seating isn’t really outside, they just open some windows in the ceiling. If all of our party hadn’t been fully vaccinated, I don’t think we would have stayed. Great place all around, but if you’re wary on indoor dining, this isn’t for you.
My son took me here for Mother’s Day. The food was good but their dairy free and vegan options are extremely limited for brunch. On the contrast, the pina colada was handed down the best one I have ever had and will be the reason why I return. The service was average; not bad but not great.
My only piece of advice is to clean up and brighten the entry way. It was dark, dank and had cobwebs everywhere. It’s located in the basement of a boutique hotel with a separate exterior entrance and it definitely gives creepy basement vibes when you first get there. Once inside it’s a hip space with cool decor.
Also, their seating is mostly bar stools so if you’re looking for a comfortable sit down situation this isn’t it.
My mom loved her Mother’s Day brunch, the food was delicious and the team was amazing!
Excellent service, good music and the mojito’s are delicious! I totally recommend.
Every bite and every sip was delicious. Service was great. Fun atmosphere. A different (in a very good way) to experience rum. Can’t want to go back.
This place is super cute! Went for brunch on a Sat and had a good time. The ambience is amazing and there are lots of places to capture iconic photos. The food menu is extremely limited (think tapas, small plates, etc.) so if you're looking for a place to get full, this is not it. The drinks are hella strong and yummy! I would love to come back and check out the dinner menu, but would probably skip it for another brunch. Servers and bartenders were great.
Castas did not disappoint! Very friendly staff.
Cute place in DC, food portions are small. Didn’t have many gluten free options for brunch.
Service and speed incredible; Empanadas, Shrimp were delicious; Pork bites were a bit dry and lacked seasoning.. overall a nice place and I recommend.. It's loud though... smile
Hidden gem!!! My wife and I will definitely be returning.
