Food was great ! STAFFING was awful our waiter was rude and very unprofessional
The COVID-modified service was amazing. I am not someone who likes to be checked on a lot in restaurants anyway, but Casa del Barco has a kind of "paging" system for the staff - which means you only interact as much as you want. That being said, all the interactions we had were fantastic. I also sat outside where they have really powerful heaters!
We had chips and salsa, burritos, and a blue margarita for 2. All were good. I really liked this place before but seeing their COVID precautions has made me like them that much more!
My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience here! While things have changed due to Covid - I believe that they really have done a wonderful job to ensure that their staff and customers are able to remain safe. All ordering is done through a QR code and is super simple to be able to order.
The staff was super friendly and informative. The drinks and food were absolutely amazing as well! We will definitely be returning soon!
Best restaurant ever!!! The queso is a must have!!! It’s sooooo good. I’m obsessed with the tacos here. Everything is fabulous!
The restaurant was clean, the ambiance was lovely. Our waiter was nice.
We loved the food!! However, we do not like having a paper menu in which to read. HATED the on-line ordering through our phone. AND HATE the forced 20% gratuity!!!
We always tip well, based on service. Your phone app would not let us explain this.
Also did not like closing our tab after ordering drinks & appetizer, then another tab for entrees. Wil NOT return until your Covid restrictions are lifted.
Everything was fine, but just that. Was a bit pricey for what you get.
Very Nice place to eat with family & friends. Just the right kind of spicy.
Came in for quick bite before Volleyball - was quick efficient and well executed blood orange margarita hit the spot
We had a great time at CDB, as always! The food is amazing and the margaritas are delicious. The ordering through QR code is great, minus the 20% service charge. I would rather direct all my money to the servers/food runners but I understand it is necessary with Covid. Thank you for providing a safe and wonderful dining experience!
Outside ambiance was beautiful, they were very safe with COVID protocols and I felt comfortable and happy to be there. The only concern was parking - I was unable to park where it is listed online.
I wasn’t pleased with my experience. The ordering process was difficult, the service wasn’t up to par and it was hard for me to see the value in my money. I do believe the food options were overpriced and didnt match up to the food I received.
Steak fajita very good, chicken not so much. Premium margarita tastes terrible.
Great food and service!
Upon arrival, no one greeted and we waited several minutes as staff passed us by several times without speaking to us it acknowledging us at all.
The ordering system was not explained well, and I had to grab someone and clarify exactly how to order, otherwise we would have sat at our table for who knows how long before getting any food.
We are all getting used to online menus these days, but here, each table is responsible for also placing their own orders in the online system. The severs won’t take an order for drinks or food at all. And each time you order, for that item to show up in the system, it has to be paid for. In other words I had about 6 charges from the restaurant by the end of the night. I had to pay for the drinks before they could be delivered to the table, then order and pay for the appetizers, then order and pay for the entrees, then order and pay for different entrees because the first entrees were too spicy for the kids to eat.
Since servers are JUST dropping food, they weren’t available to our table for questions about the menu. I would have liked to explain to my server that two of the kids really can’t handle spicy food at all, for help figuring out what would be a good option for them. But I had to just guess at what they would tolerate based on the descriptions of the food on the online menu, and it didn’t work out well.
I apologized to the server when he dropped their second entrees, explaining that the first ones were too spicy for the kids, but there was no apology from any staff, no offer to take something off the bill (which I guess they couldn’t because I had already paid for it before it ever came to the table!)
The bartender was friendly and responsive, but rest of staff was not. My husband is in service industry and we are SO understanding that times are difficult so we try hard to treat our servers really well when we (rarely) go out, but this was a huge disappointment all around. Sadly it was my kid’s 10th Bday dinner.
Nice place, good food, need to order via smartphone even when dining in so that’s a bit of a hassle.
Daniel was the shift manager and it’s best not to eat here when he is on duty. The service was horrible. We were judged before we could eat based on his pretensions and assumptions. I ordered a drink and Daniel says, “it’s on the more expensive side,” implying that I could not afford what I ordered. There after everything was too expensive for me. Because of the horrible customer service he attempted to make things right by reducing the bill but he also would not stop talking. This was bad bad bad. I repeat do not eat here if Daniel is the shift manager.
The staff wasn’t helpful and food was okay. They brought all food at one time instead of just bringing appetizers first and then main dish.
Perfect break from quarantine! We sat outside under the heaters and enjoyed a terrific meal along the canal. Beautiful with the lights ... and great tunes flowing in the background. Easy, no-contact ordering and plentiful hot-the-spot margaritas. Gracias!
Casa del Barco Canal Walk is a great venue. The food and drink are wonderful and the value is excellent. The staff was very accommodating for our group of 8+, particularly given the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and proper social distancing, which they strictly follow in accordance with state law. I highly recommend this restaurant and continue to go there regularly.
We all enjoyed our meal - slightly over priced. We did wish the servicers had come by to check on us as we had to track one down for more tortillas.
There is no restaurant in Richmond safer during COVID than Casa del Barco. Appreciate the safety measures they have in place so I can continue to visit. So good, per usual.
Casa Del Barco offers great vibes, a socially distant dining experience, and fast service. The food is to-die-for and they mix up one of my favorite margaritas in town!!
We had a very nice experience in this restaurant. The outdoors dining area and service was great.
Made reservations for outdoor dining, they don’t let you know that only some of the outdoor dining is heated and lit. Since the app you are required to use makes you pay and choose your tip at the beginning of your dining experience, the service we experienced was very limited. We may have done better to just get take out. They have a great location for an outdoor experience and with months of COVID related dining ahead of us, they should be making better use of their space to create a better experience for their customers.
Had a great lunch on the patio with our puppy!
I LOVE to eat here! There isn’t a thing on the menu I wouldn’t recommend, ALL of the food is GREAT! Along with the value and specials they have, you won’t be disappointed!!
Very poor experience- my table was hardly waited on. It was hard to get refills and orders filled in a timely matter.
Good food but very poor service. And the poor service came with a bit of an attitude. The tip is already included so I guess that explains it.
When you first walk in the restaurant is pretty decent, service was terrible. Also because covid I understand they don’t take your orders but instead pay online for it even though they said it was “open tab”. You “tip” everytime you order as well. The whole ambiance was alright, you’re better off going somewhere else honestly. And the waitress confused our drinks so she refused to give us our proper drink after arguing we paid for it and it’s on our receipt and after that she never came back to our table to even check. The food was way over priced for what it’s worth. Surely you’re paying for the spot by the canal facing the wall. Lol if you ever get the Asian waitress she’s terrible. Definitely don’t recommend this place.
Worst experience ever! Over priced food, and they forgot our chips and queso. Made a reservation and when we went to sit down and order they then made us get up and switch tables.
I enjoyed the area and the service was good for all of the covid restrictions. I thought the food was very overpriced for the quality and quantity that I got. My tacos barely had any meat on them and were very tiny. I don’t think it was worth what I paid for.
Hate the online experience
Sucks. Very limited menu selections
In an effort to provide service in a contactless fashion they are doing orders from your phone only using the QR app. It meant we had to do a separate order for every item, unless we wanted to order it all at once. Meaning every subsequent drink we had to do a complete new order. There was no way to leave the tab open until the end. There was some confusion and one of our party didn't get their drink for 20 minutes until we flagged down a manager. To top it off they automatically included a 20% gratuity. Which normally is fine in the setting of good service. Problem is our server rarely checked on us.
We really lucked out in that we were able to get seating outside and under the big tent, shift was perfect, because it proceeded to pour.
This was my first time at Casa del Barco and I enjoyed everything. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because our queso was a bit cold but it was still delicious. We would have sent it back but we were on a time constraint. Will definitely be returning hopefully, sooner than later.
Despite making a reservation 10 hours before arriving, we were told upon arrival that no table was available inside. Then, we were told a 20% gratuity was mandatory, even though our waiter didn’t take our order or do anything else for us - all ordering is done through an app. It was a joke.
The food was good and so was the atmosphere. However, I would say the food was overpriced for what it was.
This location is great on the canal. There are large porch areas for outdoor seating and a great inside atmosphere. The prices are expensive for the drinks and small portions of guacamole and salsa but everything tastes delicious. Definitely fun for a night out.
Waiter had an attitude
Provided coupons that he said would be applied to my bill and they were not
He was extremely rude
