Food was not good. We waited a long time for simple things like water silverware napkins and plates (we ended up stealing them off the table next to us). The drinks are small for 15.00 definitely not worth it. It wasn’t busy at all Stayed for Saturday rooftop party. It was fun. DJ was on last night.

I just don't believe that the value was there for the price. The food was so-so. My carne Asado burrito was good. My wife said that her steak tacos had a lot of gristle. For the money, there are better Mexican restaurants in the area.

Sat in the rooftop seating area, which is delightful but unnecessarily nightclub loud. Take it down a few notches at 3:30 in the afternoon. We found ourselves yelling at each other to have a conversation. Food was excellent. Only snafu: I was a very specific about my order and it still came out wrong. When I say just these 3 things, don't take the liberty of adding scallions, cheese, and whatever else was in there. "Nothing else; just chicken, beans and rice" mean nothing else but chicken, beans and rice. It's not that complicated. And 20% gratuity is automatically added to your bill so heads up there.

The server was no equipped to handle a larger size party. I myself am a waitress at a 4-Star restaurant and I am aware of what excellent service is. I feel because the 20% gratuity is already included in the bill the server did not feel the need to “work for her tip”. The prices you pay is definitively just for the ambiance. Will stick to the canal walk location for future service.

This was our first, and likely last, experience here. It was too noisy for us - not a problem for everyone but we like quiet dining so that we can chat. We had a 20 minute wait despite having a reservation, which wasnt awful but just puzzling, it wasn't really worth making one. Our server was clearly stressed and told us so. Our first interaction with "how are you?" was "well, I am here". Which wasnt reassuring. She was irritated, told us several times how terrible her day had been, rolled her eyes when we were still waiting 45 minutes for a drink, appetizers, anything, as though it were clearly someone else's fault. My drink order got scribbled on the back of someone else's check and when her pen didn't work she was visibly grumpy about it. Obviously it had been busy, and a tough day, and normally we would emphathize with that, but it was just a bit much, to keep complaining. No one checked to see if we needed anything, and some random person walked by the table to ask how we were, later, but barely stopped and really just wanted to hear that we were fine. My salad was forgotten but then retrieved, the food was "ok" - nothing special, the automatic 20% gratuity for poor service was annoying, and we just left feeling unimpressed and not likely to return. Giving bad reviews isnt typical of me. But we don't eat out a lot, it costs a ton to do so, and we were hoping for something more special than a wait-despite-reserving a table, a grumpy server, average food, too much noise, and not feeling welcome at all.

We made a reservation and was sat 2 hours later. It took almost 2 hours to get the food and when it came it was cold as ice. It was awful. I understand it was Cinco de Mayo, but they should have been prepared. I normally visit the Canal location and it is always amazing food and customer service there-even on Cinco de Mayo.

Overall the worst Casa del Barco experience I have had. On Cinco de Mayo of all days, there was a waiter with only 1 day of training experience under his belt serving us, we never received our food, and it took over an hour to receive our cocktails and chips/salsa. Several costumers left the restaurant displeased after waiting over 2 hours to receive their meals. No one ever did. All around poor experience.

For some reason it seems that just because this location utilizes an electronic menu and pay through the phone system, they think that the servers don’t need to be around. We were there for over an hour and not once got our water refilled, because our “server” never stopped by. A food runner came with our appetizer, which was just chips and some dips. The chips were stale and the white sauce tasted like it was just sour cream. We left to go to El Cero Azul down the street rather than risk more bad service and worse food.

The food is ALWAYS good! Our only complaints were the wait last night - we had reservations so we were seated quickly, but everything took a long time to come out due to lack of staff. It was margarita day and with 1/2 off, there should have been more staff knowing it would be busy. The servers was awesome, but running all over the place making it hard to keep up with their customer service to each table. Also, the small tables on the patio are not large enough for chips/dip and dinner plates, plus drinks. ; ) We will always come back - we love the food, the atmosphere, and the service is usually always great! Thank you!

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should we, as a guest, pay a MANDATORY 20% so the wait staff can have a livable wage. That is the responsibility of the restaurant to pay their workers more! A tip is reflected on the service we get as a consumer! Shame on this poorly run establishment excepting this from someone who is willingly walking in their door. I have easily tipped 25% + on amazing service and meals and I will not be strong armed into their tactics. I would absolutely avoid this place. When we sat down and then was told about this “tipping policy” we got up and walked out. Also, as someone who has lived in Mexico, there is nothing authentic about Mexican food on that menu unless you like a lot of junk on a platter that simply doesn’t need it. Real Mexican food is simple minus the hype this place tries to feed you.

Bridgett was AMAZING! So patient and kept us up to date on our food as well as checked on us to make sure we were okay! They were very understaffed but Bridgett’s attitude and disposition is so beautiful and would be happy to have her as our server. Everyone that checked on us was great!

Adding a "20% service charge, which allows us to pay a professional wage to our service teams" is the biggest self-own ever. Translation = we don't want to pay our employees so we are going to force you to pay our employees. Because you are so clueless and self-centered about this, I doubt we will come back. I like going to businesses that pay their employees a wage and don't use junk fees to pay the employees

Always been a huge fan of Casa del Barco. However, it feels like they are planning on closing the Chesterfield location. They are closed much of the week and haven’t seen the roof top open for ages. Our recent visit had good food but they seemed understaffed. Took a long time to get drinks. Was almost done eating when my drink order arrived. Our server was excellent. Not her fault. I have a feeling they have raised prices so much that they have priced themselves out of the Midlothian market. That is the complaint I hear from friends that used to go there. I hope they don’t close but sure feels like they are headed that direction.

A little on the expensive side with the drinks.Not really worth the prices that they are charging.I didn't like the fact that our party and where were we was sitting at the management decided they wanted to dimmed our lights where we were sitting out not a good idea and we had to pull out our cell phones flash lights just to see our menus. Our entire experience was terrible due to the INSANE price of their sad little margaritas. No prices so my husband orders a regular margarita and it was $22! Then orders a second, requesting an even cheaper tequila (1800) and it came half the size, in a high ball glass and was $21!!!!!! No itemized re riot was provided, which is super shady, so given how high the bill was, I requested one. 2 margaritas for nearly $50!! I’m trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, thinking it must have been an error, And now I can’t get anyone on the phone. I’ll never return there.

Hi Janet, I'm sorry for any miscommunication about the price of your margaritas. We have a wide variety of agave spirits in house, but our standard El Barco margarita is $8.50. The 1800 margarita you described should have cost $12, unless he added purees and/or a Grand Marnier floater. Our manager will be reaching out to make sure this gets resolved.
