The food is very good, we had a child with us and she was very happy too. This isn't your hole in the wall Mexican and priced higher accordingly. They use the Toast ordering system which is relatively easy to use but outside of that the service is very attentive. Happy Hour Beer prices are very reasonable.
Didn’t appreciate the automatic 20% service charge. We sat down, we’re told to open the app, order our food and drinks, and anything else we needed…just go to the app. What is the 20% for? They claimed it is so they can pay their servers a fare wage…not sure what servers they were talking about when they only thing we didn’t do as customers was get up and go the kitchen to pick up our food.
So not worth it. Seems they are headed to be an overpriced Taco Bell
Really dislike the phone based ordering. It was not intuitive, resulted in items coming out randomly and not dining together as a group. Asked for a paper menu and they don’t have any. The online ordering put a huge buzzkill on an otherwise okay dinner.
Did not like their business model. You get seated, and then you use your phone to order and pay. Interaction with servers is very minimal. It is like going to get take out but sitting at their seats at restaurant. Food was just ok, and if you order during happy hour margaritas tasted like there is no alcohol in the drink. After happy hour ends the margaritas had alcohol in the drinks. They attach a 20% service fee in to the bill. I would not go back to this restaurant.
Love Casa Del Barco. Delicious food and friendly staff!
They tell you up front that they are charging 20% for service, which I'm really ok with. But if you are going to do that, then your service should be really good, and it fell down in a few areas, like getting the help you need as you end your dining experience and need to go boxes, etc. Food was ok, burrito was notas hot as it could be, which made me wonder if it was frozen re-heat. All in all, not horrible, but not fine dining.
It’s too bad the waitresses still don’t take your order at the table. The personal connection is lost when we still have to order on our phones. Otherwise food was great and got to the table soon after we placed our order on our phones.
Not a fan of placing all my order AND paying through an app on the table. And the automatic inclusion of a 20% tip (we typically tip depending on the quality of service). Ordered fried fish burrito, very little meat, virtually no flavor. Would prefer a more authentic Mexican restaurant with more seasoning. I understand the “need” for fewer servers, but I also prefer to place my order with a person. (To me, that’s part of the experience!)
We had dinner for my birthday and our server was excellent, very accommodating and attentive. The online/app ordering was a little cumbersome, especially for my parents, who are seniors. It was difficult ordering as a group and I find app ordering during a meal to be intrusive. You cannot just sit and enjoy dinner as you are having to manage your own meal and the timing of all orders coming out together, which can be stressful. The food was excellent and service was fantastic!
Great meal. Loved the plantains.
Loved the crispy beef tacos. Great guacamole and very good deal during happy hour. Appreciate outdoor seating due to COVID but better after sundown due to intensity of glare.
Good food, good drinks, always a solid choice when I go out.
I always enjoy my visits to Casa as the service is always amazing and the food is wonderful! Casa will continue to be a go to spot for me.....
It was a great evening to celebrate a birthday on their rooftop. Music got turned up for some reason after a few shots but it went with the ambiance. Food was perfect. Wish I had more but I was drinking my calories this day. We’ll be back! Staff was awesome and friendly.
Great atmosphere and service. The rooftop was beautiful.
Went to Casa for my birthday dinner with all of my friends! Requested the rooftop, and it was a beautiful fall night! The servers were amazing and extremely nice and attentive! The bartender made our drinks great, and it was a overall nice time! Will for sure be coming back.
The ambiance was just what I expected to celebrate my sister’s birthday. I loved the music and the whole vibe. The flavor of the food was good but it wasn’t piping hot to have come out so fast. Also the beans and rice in my burrito were hard. Two others at my table complained of that as well.
We had an issue with my husband’s card where there were multiple authorizations on his card (over five) for different amounts. And even though others in our group closed out their tabs first, i wonder was it because it was he the first person to set it up. It got the point the bank blocked his card for suspicious activity and we couldn’t even close out our tab with the same card.
Horrible. We are fine with the virtual menus but ordering everything yourself with a group, including older people, is a pain. We had tried it at short pump and didn't like it. Thought we'd give it another shot at Chesterfield Towne Center because we used to like their food. It was a bad experience. The food was not good. You are forced to pay a 20% service fee (for what, I'm not sure). I know it's hard to staff restaurants right now and I feel bad for the industry but maybe if you paid your employees to do a good job they would provide good service and good food and then customers would choose to tip them appropriately. We will not go back again.
Horrible! If you are looking for a nice evening out… quiet and stress free… this IS NOT THE PLACE!! Ordering system is cumbersome and difficult. The club scene music was ridiculous as I couldn’t even hear the person right next me. Major thumbs down 👎
Food was over cooked, very burnt shrimp, the drinks weren’t bad but all the food was rough.
Good food land drinks, however this restaurant service uses a platform which allows for table ordering without a server - which can be nice at a fast casual restaurant , but with an automated 20% gratuity without great or even good service , this place is no longer a restaurant chain I’d frequent.
a number of weeks ago we were planning on getting burgers at red robin and found that it was closed. Not wanting to go home we decided to go to Casa del Barco, right next door. It was still happy hour so we decided to try to nachos. They were great. Now, we go pretty much every Friday, right before happy hour ends and the start of the weekend crowd starts coming. It's been nice being "recognized" as having been there before and the nachos are great every time. The margaritas are pretty great too. Looking forward to next Friday.
The food was amazing and the music was great! I will be going again
We sat on the rooftop and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. There was a DJ playing music and the vibes were good. Jasmine’s customer service was excellent and she should be commended for a job well done for resolving some issues we experienced. I would definitely recommend and look forward to going back in the future.
Definitely a go to place to eat in Chesterfield. The food, drinks and atmosphere is always a vibe.
Awesome place! Loved it! Great atmosphere and the food was beyond good!
Food and atmosphere is always great when coming here . Only downside is that There’s usually a huge delay in getting the attention of the severs, even after pressing the said button to “get their attention” . Other than that it was a great dining experience .
Very warm, immediate greeting when we arrived! Rebecca (I believe) was our server. She was very energetic and attentive! Everything was delicious, although my wife says that the guacamole for her chicken quesadillas was just okay. Otherwise, everything was delicious! Some might not like the Toast ordering system, but we love it! Food and drinks come out promptly and accurately.
We go out for the whole experience. Ordering on my phone works for takeout but not when dining in. Then two checks really makes it complicated. Our “waitress “ was amazing but really wasn’t a waitress more of a guide to the technology. I would loved to have had her as a true server as she was great. And then the 20% service fee would have been justified. The food was ok but only average. Very noisy atmosphere so depends on what you are looking for. We were disappointed.
It was a great experience, I love the atmosphere, the service and music was great
disappointed in our experience . . . w/exception of one young man my son knew, we seemed a burden to those working; also, we dined there for a birthday celebration but nothing was ever mentioned . . . maybe that's not Casa's thing . . . if not, don't include it on your reservation screen; the ordering system is unique and we prefer not to have our meal come on top of our appetizers/small bites and there seems to be no way to mention that; all food tasted delicious, however
Latin night was very fun!
Great music and atmosphere. Food was lacking in terms of amount, specifically on the fajitas. The food runner did a great job in providing another order of fajitas with better portions. Great seasonal margaritas, watermelon was delicious. I would go here again but be mindful of what you order and the portion size for the cost.
Friendly staff, responsive. Food was good but very expensive for a restaurant in an average mall. $11 for a margarita a bit on the high side compared to other Mexican restaurants. All ordering and payment is done on your phone, somewhat awkward and confusing when 2 different people are paying. Automatic 20% gratuity added.
I think you guys should have live people actually be there it was posted that it was going to be a DJ but it never was said that it was a streaming event 10 a person maybe save that for downstairs. I think you should get some artists to play guitars or something like that or key board to come up... Something light not too heavy on the music even can sing other songs that have already been played on the radio.
The food and the margaritas are delicious! Everything I’ve tried is amazing and the rooftop is beautiful.
I think the food lacked flavor. the location was ok. my sangria was watered down. The Margarits
a was no better.
Omg so good! And such a cool concept. Great decor and service as well. Really loved it and wished there was one in my town
Compared to the other locations in RVA this was a very disappointing experience.
1. Delivered appetizers with no chips,
2. No plates or flatware at the table
3. Hair!!! in entree
4. Ordering app will kick you out if phone goes to sleep.
Considering that patrons have to order their own food and the gratuity is automatically added I expect the service to be exceptional. Apologizing for missing something or explaining it away doesn’t replace the fact that basic items to eat a meal should be delivered when patrons are seated. Also when food is delivered check that everything is okay before darting off.
Clearly hair in food is NEVER okay the standard response should be comp the entree but that’s just my opinion.
Fix that ordering app or get a different service.
On the plus side they did allow us to sit on the rooftop even though I missed adding that when reserving.
