The food here is good. The service is unnecessarily pretentious. It’s a restaurant in Auburn, CA. No one will take your Michelin star. Also: I should never have to ask for a steak knife or a water refill, these should be automatic and they can do it at Denny’s.
Just the two of us for dinner. Recommended on by a friend, she did us a favor. We left feeling delighted, and we can't wait to bring friends and family.
Very delicious food and wine. Excellent service. Excellent for special occasions.
Carpe Vino is our go-to restaurant for special occasions or eating with foodies and those who love good wine.
The food and service have always been excellent. The new surprise twist was the French server who would burst into song. I love how the menu changes with the seasons.
Excellent food and service. All four of us ordered something different and it was all delicious! Great wine selection.
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Thank you!
2nd visit - as great as the first. Among the best dining experiences in the area. Attentive staff, great food, fine wine... couldn't ask for more.
what a find! Great food! Waygu beef done perfectly. Duck done perfectly. Their take on foie gras is super--melts in your mouth! Over-all, wonderful meal, good service, worth the time and money! Only one fault, and that was the coffee. Good, but not great--but still, this is a great place!
It is very infrequent to find a restaurant that has a creative and different menu. The vast majority offer the dull cookie cutter fish or meat with the al dente vegetable and rice or couscous starch. There all the same. Good ambiance is no excuse for a mediocre meal. Tartare is rarer than hens teeth to find and yours was delightfully different and wonderful. Additionally my pork chop was perfectly prepared. However the two women asked to have their salmon more cooked but found it a bit underdone. A matter of taste I suppose.
Robert, our waiter did a good job of attention and not intrusion. You have a very good restaurant. Expensive, but I've spent a lot of money in many establishments and had infrequent satisfaction. I will return.
The food was outstanding as well as the service. We has a woderful evening out with friends.
Superb meal with very fresh ingredients. Soup was out of this world. Service was beyond reproach and I don't know of place with better wine selections. Price is reasonable considering the quality of the meal. Great place for an intimate dinner.
Our “go to” place for special occasions or when we want a delicious farm to fork meal!
Always a fantastic meal and extensive, awesome wines by the glass list.
Awesome as usual!!!
Food is way above average in quality and creativity! Best service ever! Best restaurant for a special evening.
Outstanding service! We happened to be waited on by Paul, who will treat you like visiting royalty. The menu items are moderate in number, but the quality of the food is superb!
Meals were very tasty. Our waiter was excellent. We requested a table for 4 at our reservation to accommodate a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, we were seated a at 2 very small round tables put together. Very uncomfortable seating for my guests. Otherwise an enjoyable experience.
Service was good not great. Waiter offered us some help with wine selection by getting us a couple of wine tasts. We eventually chose a wine ourselves which turned out to be a good choice. At times one table we were seated near was noisy. Food was good not great. Not enough interesting variety of entries.
Excellent soup n grill cheese sandwich plus perfectly cooked salmon. Always a pleasure when Paul is working our table.
Disappointing experience. Had reservation for 7:30 didn’t get seated until 8. They were out of advertised dish.
Server was pathetic and not helpful for optional dishes.
The food is always great. I just wished the chef was more flexible in allowing me to have the fall squash soup with my wonderful brie grilled cheese sandwich instead of the tomato bisque.
Our go-to restaurant for special occasions...and every week for "Wiener Wednesday!" If you're into wine clubs, Carpe Vino's is the best, and if you elect to eat in the dining room, be sure to ask for Paul! He's extraordinary! The food...it's fabulous! We LOVE the steamed mussels, and the newly added tomato soup with grilled brie cheese sandwich was CRAZY GOOD! Chef's soups are always remarkable!
We love Carpe Vino because of the always creative menus and food pairings which are superbly prepared. Wine selection is excellent. The wait staff is very knowledgable, unpretentious and attentive without hovering. The only downside is that the dining rooms are on the smaller side and if there is a large party being served (as was the case during our last reservation) the noise level can get loud, making conversation difficult.
Our service was excellent, as always... as was the food...:-)))
It is such a pleasure to visit, time after time, and to come away so well-fed and taken care of so meticulously... We thoroughly recommend Carpe Vino to all our friends.
Limited but diverse menu. Wonderful starters. Very good wine list at reasonable wine prices. We had a great meal!
Always a cut above. It is the best place in the Auburn area. Great wine selection. Several areas within so you can tailor your experience to suit the occasion.
We always enjoy dining at Carpe Vino - lovely dishes with fresh, local ingredients, friendly, relaxed atmosphere, small-room dining, and consistently good service. This time we shared a Caesar salad (the best), and my husband had salmon and I had duck breast, accompanied by wines by the glass. We both had apple cake for dessert--yummy!
It's always GREAT to dine at Carpe Vino, and the addition of "Smokin' Thursdays" has been just fabulous. The smoked boneless ribeye sammy with housemade pickles was the specialty, and special it was. Chef Alexander and Pit Master Spencer make beautiful music (food) together. Thanks guys. The service is always perfect and our server, Andrea, was knowledgeable about the menu offerings AND the myriad wine choices. She was a great balance of professionalism and fun. Always looking forward to returning, soon!
Food is very rich. Not good for dieters! Expensive. Small portions which I find perfect. Friendly staff.
Great food, great service, good wine, pleasant ambiance
WE chose Carpe Vino for our anniversary dinner. Four us were greeted right away with smiles and knowledge that this was our anniversary. The service throughout the evening was great and our wait staff was very upbeat and friendly. Our dinner was paced well, and the wait staff were very patient with our ordering. We enjoyed the evening and will be back. The only concern was that the area we were in was a bit noisy.
It was a great meal with great wine. Lovely spot. I would definitely recommend
Perfection as always... Creative, fresh, and satisfying.
This is our go to restaurant for a special occasion.
All good. Owner/hostess was welcoming & set a friendly environment. Paul, the waiter may be the best ever.
Excellent food and staff and atmosphere. But it was overpriced.
Outstanding food. Great chef. Fine service. Excellent wine.
Very enjoyable. They have a wine club which I thought very unique in that they source the wines from all over then send you a couple of bottles every month or every other month at my discretion. If you're a member, corkage fees are waved.
Looking forward to trying it again as the menu rotates.
A bit over priced without a lot of selection but overall good. Wine by the glass selection was overpriced and underwhelming as well. I think the idea is to sell bottles opposed to glasses. Would have also liked to have more choices for dessert.
I would still recommend this restaurant for those looking for a nice dinner out in Auburn.
