Great location with a view of the ocean. We had the the three course prix fixe dinner. My wife had the pork belly appetizer and I had the foie gras. For entree, my wife had the duck and I the salmon. For desert, my wife had a chocolate mousse cake and I a blueberry soufflé. Everything was excellent and a beautiful presentation. The wait staff is exceptional. They do the legacy of Newport proud.
What a fabulous, delicious, unrushed, and elegant 6 course dinner! We loved every bite! It was perfect for a special occasion! The service was perfect too! Thank you!
I was very disappointed with my experience at Cara. The first thing our waiter (George) asked was if we had ever dined there before. This was our first visit. I noticed that other tables received complimentary champagne. We did not. We ordered cocktails which were quick to come and dinner. We chose the 3 course prix fixe menu. Our appetizers came and I really enjoyed my fois gras. I noticed that other tables received an amuse buche. Ours did not come until we were done with our appetizers. This usually comes first. My husband had the filet and I ordered the duck. The apple chutney on the duck was very good but the duck was very tough. The filet was wonderful. Dessert was good. Finally I noticed every other table received a parting thank you gift which is common in upscale restaurants. The waiter took our paid check and disappeared. We finally got up to leave with no gift. I went to the ladies room and my husband tracked down the waiter and asked about the gift. Overall I feel because this was our first visit our waiter felt like he could not give us the same service as repeat customers. I will not go back.
Great food, excellent service, very romantic and elegant
Amazing food and amazing service. We did the 6 course tasting and it was fantastic and Cole our server was a perfect 10! Go here for special occasions, they definitely know how to make you feel special.
The ambiance is very special with views of the ocean from every table. The service is attentive but unobtrusive and the food was spectacular. The presentation was exceptional. They have an extensive wine list with great wines by the glass. The staff is very friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to discerning diners who appreciate excellence in their dining experiences.
Wonderful find!! While staying at the Chanler by Cliff Walk, enjoyed dining at Cara twice, once with the 3 course, and then “Fluke”. Both the poached lobster and the creative “fluke” menu were excellent. Cole, our server, made dining at Cara even more enjoyable.
A special experience in a beautiful environment! Artful food delicately prepared with very attentive service.
My husband And I celebrated our anniversary there. Extraordinary views. Service was impeccable and we were treated so specially for this occasion. Soufflé was out of this world.
Exceptional 6-course tasting menu for $135 prix fix was worth the plunge - for special occasions and splendid fare, recommend this gorgeous spot. Service delightful.
Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. Well worth it!
My husband and I had a spectacular meal for a special occasion. The staff and restaurant were amazing!
I wasn’t quite sure what Cara would be like when I made the reservation. I saw that there were only a couple of reviews, but I was confident that as part of one of “the mansions,” it would be a classy experience. And wow — was it ever! An absolutely unbeatable view of the beach and the ocean. Our table wasn’t right beside the window, but I could still see the surfers and watch the waves crashing. The Chanler mansion itself is just gorgeous. The restrooms were probably the nicest I’ve even been in. There is valet service at the door, which sets the tone for the level of customer service provided throughout the experience. I had made a note on the reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary, and every staff person with whom we interacted was sure to wish us a happy anniversary. The menu is divided into three options — two of which are elaborate tasting menus and can be accompanied by wine pairing. I believe without the pairings the price per person was about $130. There was also an option to get the three course prix fix for $95/person (plus the cost of cocktails) and this is what we did. The meal began with lovely cocktails, a light and tasty amuse bouche and some amazing bread (I chose the cranberry walnut and I really wanted another piece it was so good, but I knew I wouldn’t have room for my meal). I had the crab to start and it was beautiful and fresh. My husband had the lobster and enjoyed it as well. For an entree, I had the filet and it was unbelievable. The accompaniments were delightful. My husband had the duck and he’s still talking about it 24 hours later. We had strawberry shortcake for dessert and it too was wonderful. The chef created a piece of chocolate that read “Happy Anniversary” as part of the dessert. Before sending us on our way, the server presented us with a box of chocolates to bring home. We were beyond impressed with the service, ambiance and quality of food. Definitely worth the splurge for a special occasion or date.
1st wedding anniversary
I write this without hyperbole - It was the best meal my wife and I have ever had. New chef is unbelievable. Just for context and perspective, we are not novices when it comes to food. Had the Forage tasting menu with pairings. Do it!
We will be back! Sitting outside watching the surf was very relaxing. We ate there three times in two days. Very creative chef. Incredible food and wonderful presentation.
The restaurant itself is very nice but the food is not good. We did the 6 course tasting menu for $135 and none of the dishes were executed well. The tuna tartare came out luke-warm, the sea urchin risotto was overcooked and soggy, the wagyu was flavorless. Even the dessert was disappointing with the baked peaches coming out cold. The restaurant itself is beautiful but it definitely not worth the steep price.
I have eaten at The Spiced Pear many times and always enjoyed my meals. Cara has a very limited menu...
.no ala Carter choices. I had the duck and along with the meat I was served a large piece of fat. Cara is not living up to the standards of The Spiced Pear. I was disappointed.
Delicious food in a classy environment with outstanding (and no rushed) service. Our anniversary dinner was a wonderful experience. Literally everyone of the staff was super friendly (and greeted us) and professional.
Excellent service every detail attended too great food and view
My wife and I have been going out to dinner for our anniversary for 29 happy years and this was the best of the 29. The food was fantastic. perfectly prepared and presented. Every employee, from the valets the moment we arrived, to the hostesses, servers, and even the chefs were very nice, outgoing, and personable. Add all of that to the beautiful views from an exquisite dining room and it becomes a dinner I will never forget.
Thank you for an amazing evening of fine dining! Everything was beyond expectations! Hats off to a great staff made us feel like Royalty!
Excellent service, fantastic view. Menu is limited but everything we had was perfect. We had the 3 course menu, duck was excellent.
A wonderful location, attentive staff, and amazing food.
The evening could not have been more special. Warmly greeted by the Parking Valet and the front desk. Immediately seated at the best table in the house, in the window with a beautiful view overlooking Easton's Beach. Cole, who attended our table was a reacquaintance from two years ago and obvious remembered us. He was fantastic and I can't begin to describe how much he contributed to a terrific evening. Every single bite of food for both my wife and I was out of this world. This is the place you save for the most important times of your life. After dining there twice in two years, both my wife and I can describe in great detail each and every dish placed in front of us. Truly five star across the board.
Cara has a magnificent view overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The six course tasting meal was a culinary experience.
My husband took me here for my birthday. We sat inside with the most spectacular view . We started off with a couple cocktails that were perfectly balanced and beautifully garnished. Our server was Cole. He was prompt and very knowledgeable in regards to the food, flavors, wine and where everything was sourced from, most of which is local which we appreciate immensely. We picked the tasting menu called “Plunge” which is a 6 course meal with wine pairings. Literally everything we had was delicious and decadent. The wine pairings perfectly complimented and enhanced every dish. We thoroughly enjoyed this place. It’s a little on the pricey side so it’s sort of a splurge but the whole experience is so worth it . They also have outdoor seating that’s a bit more casual and offers a different menu. We will try that next . Highly recommend this place . They know what they’re doing . If you’re looking to be spoiled or spoil someone, this is where to do it!
While initially a bit concerned by waiting about 10 minutes for hostess, we were pleasantly surprised by very attentive hostess and waitstaff. The food was amazing-delicate complex flavors. While pricey, the service is excellent and you cannot beat the location by the side of the Cliffwalk. We had a great meal and lovely experience at Cara.
