About this restaurant

  • Good for business meals
  • Charming
  • Great for creative cocktails
The Capital Bar & Grill may be the embodiment of Capital’s Southern Comfortable culinary vision focusing on provincial comfort food with a particular emphasis on the bounty of Arkansas. The tools of the bar include the most sought-after liquors, mixers and ingredients. In sort of a back-to-the-future twist, it has been a devotion to handmade classic and custom cocktails (the Aviation vs. the Cropduster) that has established Capital Bar as a nationally-regarded spirits destination. All this said, we strive to create a fun, relaxing experience for all of our guests: The friendly atmosphere is especially suited to business lunches, after-work drinks and get-togethers, as well as special date nights.

What a gem! Old school ambiance and fantastic food. Superb craft made drinks and a wonderful steak prepared just right!

Our dinner at the capital grill was very much below par! The restaurant was so loud you could not have a conversation with the person next to you. The service was just awful. I mean the service was REALLY bad! Food was average at best. Was certainly not worth the cost of the meal. This was not up to the standards of the Capital Hotel.

We had an enjoyable dining experience. The margarita, expresso martini and old fashion were great. My husband really liked his steak and gumbo. I loved the shrimp and grits. The gnocchi was so yummy too. Our waitress was very polite and provided us with good service. We would eat there again.

Like the new menu but the chowder was not delicious. I expected more flavor and consistency. Great drinks and atmosphere.

It was great except my husband’s clam chowder had to be sent back because it wasn’t hot enough and then he said it was mostly a potato soup with almost no clams.

I was disappointed given all the hype. It was OK, not fabulous. The decor of dining room was nice, the crowd was noisy and seemed to be enjoying the evening. The waitstaff were attentive and helpful. The food was OK—the burger was good; the fried chicken was tender but nothing special; the gnocchi were meh. What was billed as southern pecan pie was the biggest disappointment: a small, hard, seemingly overbaked pecan tart in a chocolate crust —not a wedge of gloriously gooey, sweet pecan pie with a crispy crust. The s’mores cake was slightly better, but could have benefited from more marshmallow topping. I would not rush back.

They use Arkansas grown beef for steaks & burgers. They grind the hamburger meat themselves.

Good experience. Excellent service. Exorbitant tax on liquor but not your fault.
