The Capital Bar & Grill may be the embodiment of Capital’s Southern Comfortable culinary vision focusing on provincial comfort food with a particular emphasis on the bounty of Arkansas. The tools of the bar include the most sought-after liquors, mixers and ingredients. In sort of a back-to-the-future twist, it has been a devotion to handmade classic and custom cocktails (the Aviation vs. the Cropduster) that has established Capital Bar as a nationally-regarded spirits destination. All this said, we strive to create a fun, relaxing experience for all of our guests: The friendly atmosphere is especially suited to business lunches, after-work drinks and get-togethers, as well as special date nights.

                                                                        Malbec and Pinot Noir by the glass were good and an excellent value. Pimiento cheese appetizer was tasty and plenty for 4 people. All entrees ordered were delicious. Hostess and servers were friendly and timely.

                                                                        I was truly disappointed with the Mother’s Day brunch at this restaurant. For an event that should feel special and well thought-out, the experience fell short on nearly every front. To begin with, the selection was shockingly limited. Standard brunch staples like eggs, bacon, waffles, or even pancakes were completely absent. It’s hard to understand how a brunch menu can exclude such basics, especially on a holiday like Mother’s Day when families are looking for a comforting and celebratory meal. Worse still, for the premium price they charged, there were no higher-end offerings to justify the cost—no shrimp, no crab cakes, nothing that gave the buffet a sense of value or quality. While I don’t mind paying for a great meal, what was served simply didn’t measure up. It felt like corners were cut, both in variety and in quality. Sadly, this was not the special experience we were hoping to enjoy with our family. I won’t be returning, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it for anyone looking to celebrate a meaningful occasion.

We appreciate your insight about those classical brunch items you did not observe on the buffet. While we wished to provide some distinction from our recent Easter Buffet experience, we should have done a better job of connecting the menu with our audience. We were happy to provide off-menu items like eggs for guests who made that request on the day, so we sincerely apologize if you were unable to take advantage of that amenity. Finally, we’re disheartened that the two carving stations and plentiful premium menu items did not meet your expectations.
