Capital Ale House is Virginia’s Ale House. We are locally owned and serve only the best craft beer from around the world, across the USA, and local Virginia brews. With 80 taps, we're sure to have a beer just for you!

Join us on one of our spacious patios, or by one of two indoor fireplaces in our dining rooms, or in our upstairs lounge area. Private seating is available.

We’re proud to serve only pasture-raised, antibiotic, and hormone-free Virginia beef and strive to procure other local products when possible. We also have a German-inspired menu along with many American favorites!

The food and service was great. Love the appetizer with the pretzel, cheese and grapes. Entrees were better than anticipated- Salmon and Mussells.

Waitstaff and service were good. Enjoyed the special Shrimp Etoufee. Good portions. The hush puppies on special were dry and over cooked.

Terrible. Our waiter was fine but we couldn’t get any drinks…took us 30 min to get our check after we cancelled our drinks sine they never came. Then we were billed incorrectly and we didn’t say anything bc our bill took too long to begin with. There wasn’t enough help and made for a terrible experience.

Our reservation was for 6:15, there was no table ready and we had to wait 15 min to be sat. Once sat, no one came to the table to greet us or take a drink order. After 15 min of no service at our table we left to find dinner elsewhere.

The appetizer arrived and before we even finished half of it the main course arrived and it was the wrong main course because I didn’t check I was eating the appetizer. It took about 5 minutes to find the server and then another 20 minutes for the correct food to arrive. The manager (who never stopped by) did comp the meal but I don’t care about that an apology in person means a lot more to me!
