Capisce - S. Lake Tahoe
We are a family-owned and operated restaurant, serving fresh, handcrafted Italian in beautiful South Lake Tahoe, Nevada! While we are famous for our Ravs (ravioli) and our "Gravy" (it's not sauce, it's GRAVY), all of our sauces, salad dressings, focaccia, etc. are made from scratch, just like Nanny and Papa Devincenzi taught! We say that our items are "Made With Generations of Love"...we are sure you will agree! We have a full bar as well as beer on tap! Come sit by the fireplace in our dining room, or hang out in our bar and watch the game! Our family looks forward to seeing you...CAPISCE?
Mon–Thu, Sun 5:00 pm–10:00 pm
Food was excellent service a little slow BUT all pasta dishes are made to order the food from the salad to dessert was perfect outstanding food
They have expanded their menu since we were there last. Loved the new menu items. Everything was delicious.
Love this place. We make a point of eating here every time we are in South Lake Tahoe. Yum!!!
The best thing about this restaurant was the waiter. Food was not good and fairly expensive. Wanted to like it but with 7 bad meals, cannot give it a passing grade.
Amanda was great as a waitress. The food took forever to come out. We got there at 6:30pm and didn’t leave until 9:15, not by choice, especially with a 5 and 7 year old. Food was excellent.
This was the worst food and service we have ever had. They forgot to put our order in and then they didn’t have what I wanted. Over an hour later they gave us the most terrible food. The lobster ravioli was mush in this soupy sauce. My sons butter noodles were soaked in butter and my eggplant was discussing. We couldn’t even eat the food. They never sent a manager over or took anything off our bill. We will never go back there.
This was our first time at Capisce. We had a group of 9 celebrating my husband’s birthday. Many tempting dishes. Our friends loved their artichoke chicken and my steak and mushroom over risotto was outstanding. Our waitress Sarah was efficient and friendly. She even brought my husband a birthday dessert and the wait staff sang Happy Birthday. Would definitely come here again next time we are in the Zephyr Cove area. Highly recommend you try it too!
Service was a bit slow (but very friendly), but other than that, everything was delicious.
Nice restaurant but I don’t believe they have air conditioning. It gets very hot and humid which made the meal less pleasant than it should have been. Started off with the tortilla soup which was really salty, so I wouldn’t order it again. Ordered the trio because I couldn’t decide which dish I wanted. The chicken pesto pasta was good, the raviolis and lasagna just fair. Ironically, when I reheated my leftovers the next day I mixed everything together and it was delicious, much better than the original meal. I’m not sure about the rolls? To me they were just blobs of dough that weren’t even cooked all the way through. If I were to return, it would be on a cool day and I would try a different entree.
Great food and enjoyed our waitress Amanda. Nice gal and very accommodating.
No host waited 10 minutes to be seen. Service was slow and foid was sliw to come. Our waiter was nice but clearly he was new and had not been trained in basic service skills. Food was inconsistent. Raviolis were good but very little gravy. Veal parmigiana was tough and not real flavorful. The chicken dish was burnt overcooked.
Was really looking forward too old italian cooking and “gravy” like my family in Italy makes. Not so much so.
Hopefully, If I try again, I will find it was just a bad night...?
Food was mediocre and overpriced
Noise level was quite high, hard to carry on a conversation.
The check-in hosting needs a little improvement. We stood there and stood there waiting to be acknowledged. Finally someone came up to us and asked if we've been helped. This is the first impression of a restaurant and not be acknowledged was a little off-putting.
The food was absolutely delicious and our server very nice. The food came to our table piping hot and with ample servings.
Not the restaurant's fault, but it is extremely noisy and somewhat difficult to carry on a conversation without having to lean in to hear each other. We visited one time during the winter when it was less crowded and it was much more appealing. This visit was during a busy summer weekend. We will be back when there's less tourists.
Wonderful food and atmosphere.
Great staff and very good food!
My sister and I spent some time in Tahoe this past week and found this little neighborhood gem. We shared our food and each had a glass of wine. Best waiter ever. They had zughetti on the menu which is zucchini and yellow squash with bolegnese sauce. It was amazing and met our reduced carb need while still enjoying a fabulous meal. Our server was charming and attentive. He was young and we were amazed at how well he did his job. We tipped him handsomely and wrote and appraising note on the check. And the house Pinot Noir was delicious too. Don’t think you’ll be disappointed here.
Capisce is our local Italian restaurant. In the past the menu remained the same forever, and became stodgy. We decided to give it another try, and were very pleased with the experience. They have added many more interesting things to the menu, and what they prepare has always been good, so it has returned to being a destination restaurant again. The bar at Capisce is the coziest bar in the Tahoe area, and a great place to chill, winter or summer, and the bartender is great.
Great little family-owned/operated restaurant!
varied menu great food and excellent choices. served hot and on time.
We had a great time. Food was excellent. Great restaurant for groups.
They did not have a bartender dedicated to bar service only so a server took care of us between waiting tables. They were inattentive at the table but the food was good.
As always our dinner at Capisce was fabulous. Brian is a warm and friendly server and the family run restaurant is our go-to place to enjoy great food and feel like we are with family. The wedge salad is delicious, the ravioli is the best I’ve ever had, our risotto was the right consistency and the desserts disappeared. Can’t wait to return!
We had nice evening and it was my Father Day present from my wonderful wife at one of our local and favorite restaurants.
Their house ravioli's are awesome. Go back whenever I can
Delicious food and great service ! My discerning Italian husband has the ravioli and declared them the beat he has had I loved the eggplant parmigiana ( NOT a casserole , but a single lightly breaded fairly thick slice ... very good!) we came in behind two large groups and our very attentive server warned us of a delay but we were happy enjoying drinks , delicious focaccia and our caprese salad and then the entrees came out :) Somewhat noisy atmosphere with the large groups but good ambiance otherwise
Food is good and decent size servings. Only concern is they do not serve vegetables with most dishes.
We go to Capisce about eight times a year. We recommend the tortilla soup (I know, but just get it), the flank steak, and the zuggheti (zucchini cut into thin strips with your choice of sauce, so you can stay on your low-carb diet).
Just know that the meal can take awhile, so if you have kids with you, order right away!
The food was good but unable to enjoy and have a conversation because the noise level was too high!!!
Best place to eat in Stateline-Zephyr Cove.
Very friendly and very good food at reasonable price. Easy in and out with parking.
We love Capisce!! Every time we are in Tahoe, we go there for dinner. The “sauce” is amazing! Raviolis, Eggplant Parmigiana, Chicken Parmigiana, Artichoke Chicken, Capisce Soup, everything is delicious! The servers are so nice and friendly!
Great food service & bar!
The service is horrible and the food we ordered was raw! We just paid and left and won’t ever come back!!
loved all the choices on the menu we had a party of 6 everyone had something different and everyone was very satisfied great meal
Love this restaurant.
Beautiful setting and decor. To knotch service, great food.
Seriously great food
Our first time but not our last. Food and service was outstanding
Vegetable risotto bowl too salty. Gi Spicy pasta dish was excellent. Eggplant appetizer was excellent.
Got snowed in. Google showed this the closest restaurant to our resort. It was truly the highlight of our winter vacation! From the spacious parking lot and beautiful bldg. outside to the stunning granite bar and romantic, well appointed restaurant. This is dining at its finest. The service and food were superb! The portions are ample. We had their special homemade Capisce soup, scallops au gratin (3 huge tender scallops), and their signature spicy Gi Pasta entre was out-of-this-world! I substituted the pasta noodle for zughetti. Absolute perfection! Oh, then dessert! The homemade banana pudding and Tiramisu were utterly scrumptious! We can hardly wait to go back to Tahoe, just for meals at this fabulous little mountain jewel!
