Permanently Closed - Cantoro Italian Trattoria - Troy
Thank you Open Table and Cantoro’s for making a reservation at a CLOSED restaurant! What should have been a nice birthday celebration was ruined!
This restaurant is permanently closed. They sent me a confirmation text 2 days before but the place was closed upon arrival referring us to their Plymouth location. Please remove from Open Table.
The place is closed! Nice of the restaurant to call and let us know.
Unfortunately the Troy location has been closed as of yesterday but I will go to the one in Plymouth.
Service was good. Good menu. Had linguini with white clam sauce and it was great. All additions (Soup / Salad) are extra.
Birthday dinner with girlfriends. They brought us tiramisu, free of charge. Somewhat busy and Service was on the slow side. The cannoli was outstanding!
I was surprised how good this restaurant was. Excellent experience!
Cantoro is an amazing experience- excellent food, wine and service. Our go- to for a nice night out; our kids love their pizza so it’s great for couples or families. Can’t sing their praises any louder! Excellent, period.
Waiter was a little quirky/stand offish . Took us a bit to make him a little more personable.
Service was very slow - it took one hour to get our food. Unfortunately, the Troy location does not compare to the Plymouth location, which is always fantastic!
Meal and service were excellent. Huge portions, well-prepared. Pasta cooked just right. Veal was tender. Would recommend highly.
Great food and great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family
Wonderful outdoor dining. Excellent food and service. Perfect spot for an intimate dinner.
Everything started good. We ordered Bruschetta it had no flavor. Bread and oil was very good. My wife had Med Sea Bass it was thin little strips. I ordered a rib eye and received Veal Chop. They at least adjusted the price. We don’t intend to return. We had eaten there 3 prior times and it was fine then. Don’t know what was different this time.
The restaurant was louder and noisier than I anticipated, but given the layout, it is to be expected. The food is delicious. The food took a lot longer than we thought it should have. The staff is excellent. One tip for the staff would be to set the expectation that the food takes longer to prepare. Overall we were happy and will return.
From the beginning we could tell it wouldn't be a great experience. Two of us checked in and chose to be seated outdoors. We had given our name and said the other couple would be joining us. It took some time to give a drink order for the two of us and even longer for the drinks to arrive. We grew concerned about the other couple. Finally I walked into the main dining room and there they were....wondering what had happened to us. They rose to join us outdoors but before we went out we approached the hostess and told her what had happened. She then said that she had wondered why there were two parties with the same name, that she and another person were trying to figure out what happened.
Not too sharp!
Outside at our table we talked and summoned the waitress to give our order, which we did. It took a fairly long time to get our first course, and far longer to get our main course. One of us had to get up and find our waitress or anyone who we could tell we were still waiting. We were told that the kitchen was backed up. Strange, as the indoor seating had many empty tables.
The food was excellent, though not worth the wait.
The manager came to us later to apologize. Someone hadn't shown up for work, she said, and our waitress was new and had the tables farthest from the kitchen (which wasn't a good assignment for an untested waitress). She took the first course and the drinks off the bill, which was very nice of her.
We spent well over two hours at our table. We finished at 9:30 pm. Not good.
The food was outstanding- best veal chop and the Mediterranean Sea bass was cooked to perfection. We were in town for the Woodward Dream Cruise . Wish we lived closer - would be a definite regular
We sat outside on a gorgeous evening. I asked for a glass of Pinot Noir and they had Bella Glos by the glass, one of my favorites. That was the start of a memorable dining experience. Four of us split a pizza for an appetizer that was super delicious. Then I split a Caprese salad with my husband. Four large slices of creamy cheese over beautiful tomatoes. Couldn't have been nicer. And my entrée was the Bolognese pasta dish. I always measure my Italian restaurants by their Bolognese. And this one rated at the top. I was not disappointed. Really, really good!! My husband had the shrimp with artichokes in a cream sauce. So delicious!! And our waiter was attentive and helpful, as were the helpers who cleaned our table after every course. We ended our dinner with a piece of tiramisu that the four of us split. It was creamy and one of the best I have ever eaten. All four of us had compliments for the chef that evening. It was our first time at Cantoro and we will come again and bring family and friends with us. It was a very nice experience!
As always, great food. Expect great service, but this is all prepared to order so don’t expect freakishly fast. Ambience and patio seating best in Troy! Fabulous Italian!
The outdoor seating was divine. Quieter & more private than indoors. We always enjoy our times at both locations.
It was a very pleasant dinner with good friends, good food and great service!
Bday, service food ambience ALL fantastic
The food and ambiance are wonderful. The menu displays the wide range of Italian cooking, with regional differences. My go-to dish at a first time visit to an Italian restaurant is gnocchi, with my grandmother’s version as my North Star. The gnocchi at Cantoro was absolutely delicious, although the sauce was unlike any I’ve ever had before. The service was professional without being overwhelming. Two thumbs up. We’ll definitely be back.
Birthday celebration. Great food & great service.
Enjoyed the fig special and the eggplant pasta
The patio was perfect for our dinner and conversation. Well Prepared and very friendly staff. They were always checking in as to how the meal and wine were doing. Just a great balance
We had a great dinner. The food was delicious and Cassie was a great server. This was our first time dining there and we will go back!
I loved the exterior of Cantoro, the outside gardens are very relaxing as well. As you walk inside there’s a beautiful staircase, me and my girlfriend did some exploring, it’s a very interesting place. The staff was extremely nice, the food was delicious. I gotta say though I was let down by how close the bar area is to the dinning area, it almost instantly feels too relaxed of a sitting, I don’t want to see a tv showing golf while I’m eating a 40 dollar dish. The music could barely be heard, I really don’t like being able to hear peoples conversations around me, some nice Sinatra would of been perfect.
yummy! they took my usual order off the menu but i found something relatively similar
Exceptional food and service. I have been here many times and always had an outstanding meal.
Very enjoyable evening. The food was excellent and the service was top notch.
Our service and our meal was excellent at Cantoro's. It's a very comfortable and warm restaurant. We have been here several times and this is one of our "go to" dining destinations. We ordered a bottle of wine, and when our waitress brought it and served us, she suggested next time we try another wine that she thought we might like. She asked us if we would like to sample the wine she recommended for next time, and for the first time ever, we were served a sample in a restaurant. Very note worthy.
Excellent dinner, beautiful setting outside (and available when requested). Can't wait to go back.
The food is great, I had the Saltimbocca and my wife the Ravioli. Both items were fantastic and portions were very large. We had the desert of the day, lady fingers soaked in amaretto, mascarpone filling and a very light top layer with crumbled cookies. Delicious. A must try.
Excellent food, service, varied menu with a few unique items. Roomy so tables not crowded.
We ate outside on a wonderful summer night. Cantoro's never disappoints in my opinion. The pasta is wonderful and you can't beat a bottle of Belle Glos Las Alturis Pinot for $52.
Overall, great food and we had great service. However, when they first sat us, they sat us outside on the patio literally right next to another table and we were the only two tables. It was so awkward and not intimate at all. There was no music just so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Once we moved inside, everything else was perfect.
Joel our waiter was top notch professional. Made our evening even better
Waiter was awful
