Cantina Laredo - Chicago
Went there for Sunday brunch. The food was excellent. Service was a little slow. There was only one other table at the time we were there. :-( Overall good experience.
Had a 9:30 reservation in a Sat night. Waited at the desk where it says wait here to be seated for 10 minutes with another group of people that came in right after us. Finally a server that walked past us 3 times already asked us if we had a reservation while all the other servers tried to not see us. We asked if we could be seated in one of the booths near the bar and were told they were trying to close that section down yet plenty of people were still there. Moved us to a big open area next to a loud private party. Glad they were having fun and happy for the restaurant to be busy but impossible to have a conversation. Thankfully the food made up for the lack of service. Our dinners were good as we all had tacos. Small tortillas but delicious fillings. Our tamale appetizer came with the dinners and that too was delicious. Had a margarita and had to flag down a waiter from the party to ask if he would have our server get us another round. All in all good food but service that did not care if we were there or not.
The portions were small but good the drinks out standing
We went with a group of my girlfriends and loved it! The server, Michael, was wonderful, he knew
the menu well including the cocktail menu and was helpful when making our selections.
The food is so good, very fresh, not the heavy Mexican food you might find elsewhere, but fresh, light selections. The cocktails are top notch as well! My only down side would be it's a active, lively atmosphere and that can make it difficult if you want to catch up with friends you haven't seen in a while.
We will definitely be back though!
The 1030am brunch reservation that is on open table meant the restaurant was 30 minutes late because they don't open until 11am. And the people at the restaurant didn't care. Food quality went downhill, all kinds of things that make Mexican food non gluten free (which is hard to do). I will be hard pressed to go back for anything more than a margarita. A while lot of we don't care at this place.
Great service. Loved the service. Price fair. Guacamole amazing and so were chips. Has chicken quesadillas and they were good but could have been great if a little more moist. The decor super cool and sat by fire for warmth and ambience. Would go again when in city.
I met a friend for happy hour. The bar area was full when I arrived, but the staff was very accommodating and offered the HH menu at a table nearby. I was disappointed that the guac cart is no longer available - but all good and drink was still great!
Cold food, when we sent it back it was still cold. Ok service but gross food.
Service was quite slow. We were freezing as we were sat by the fireplace — sounds wrong but there is tons of ventilation to have the fireplace and it was all cold blowing air.
Me and my boyfriend love this place, the food and the vibe never disappoints! I particularly love the Combination fajita plate and all the margaritas.
Today, we came in for our anniversary and booked a table through OpenTable specifically indicating that it was our anniversary, however nothing was mentioned about it.
Additionally, our server, Jesse, gave the table next to us very attentive service - greeting them first (despite us coming in earlier), asking for drink refills, refilling the chips and salsa - while stopping by our table only a handful of times (and us having to ask multiple times for the same items). As a server myself, I am beyond disappointed in this experience and will be choosing to dine elsewhere on special occasions.
Cantina has been one of our go to restaurants. Now they don’t do table side guacamole anymore even though they increased the price. Now you get half the amount and it’s not that special. They’ve reduced the amount of items ...some of our favorites are no longer available.
Went for Christmas Eve dinner with our family and had great service and great food!
Food was great. The modern touch was enough to make me like Mexican food. Flavors were different and oh so good. Seasonal guacamole was amazing.
I picked this place because it is listed as romantic. This it is not. Didn’t need reservations. Furniture could be a little more cozy. Upper level was not open.
Disappointed that they dud not have the table-side guacamole preparation. It was always a fun experience
Convenient, Service great, food outstanding...thanks.
Food was good, though have had better at different locations. Not sure if the menu different but it seems like they have less options than the Texas locations I’ve visited. The waiter was very concerned with getting our order in and disappeared after he placed it. They brought us queso but we were out of chips and then didn’t for 10 minutes. Food took a while to come out as well. And refilled water after the water being empty for like 20 minutes. All-in-all the food was fine but it wasn’t worth the price especially with slow service. With so many restaurant options, I’d go somewhere else.
This was our last visit to Cantina Laredo. Service was embarrassing for this price point. Our dirty, empty appetizer dishes sat on our table for the entire meal - the server didn't take them, the bus person didn't take them, another server who brought a drink didn't take them. Their corporate offices appear to be cutting staff while at the same time not promoting an environment of teamwork. Additionally, all the food was merely lukewarm on a slow Sunday night.
Great food! Sweet potato tacos and the guacamole were awesome! We have been here several time and it’s always great. Service is spectacular!
Food, drinks, and service were all amazing. Will definitely be back.
Great location, nice atmosphere, awesome building and space. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Good menu and options.
Birthday for 3 friends. I confirmed this when the restaurant called to confirm the reservation and again when I arrived. The hostess confirmed before seating us. The waiter never asked nor mentioned anything about the birthday’s. One of the drinks that we ordered was wrong. We told him about it and he acknowledged that it was wrong but he never attempted to replace it. He just said that the bar was extremely busy. Food was great.
We had a 530 reservation and we got there a bit earlier and took us in right away. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was awesome. Pretty pricey but very worth it
We had a phenomenal waiter. Very friendly and made great recommendations. Also didn’t rush us out of our table after we ate.
Good food, slow service.
Was really great to be in a room by ourselves with such a large party. We could hear ourselves talk! And the food and service, as always, was great! Thanks!
Food was excellent! Service was extraordinarily quick to get our entrees, but VERY slow to get out dessert of churros. The churros was outstanding. When we first arrived for our 6:30pm dinner reservation, it was EXTREMELY LOUD, so much so that the 3 of us had trouble hearing each other without literally yelling. We've been to Cantina Laredo for earlier dinner and it's been a lot less noisy - also, by the time we left, around 8pm, it had quieted down a lot. So, keep timing in mind if you want to have dinner and have conversation at the same time.
Loved that the manager came over to say hello!! Great experience!
We just came for happy hour drinks and really enjoyed ourselves! A quick in and out at the bar
Went out for a Sunday night dinner with my wife and daughter. Had never been there for anything but Friday Happy Hours. The ladies split a dish and I got Fajitas Tres which were outstanding. We went through a ton of chips and salsa, and our servers had no problem with refills again and again! Drinks were pretty tasty too. Overall great experience. I will happily got again
Victor was a great waiter. He talked a lot with our kids and they loved it.
The serviced for food was good. The bar service was very poor. The mixed drinks took forever and were not made well at all. Very disappointing for Downtown Chicago.
It was a nice meal
Nice ambiance, strong house margaritas and our server was attentive.
The pace of moving through each course was slower than normal. We waited a while for our initial drinks to be made, but the second round came out much quicker. they were also out of 1942.
We love this place! We keep coming back every time we are in town.
Cantina Laredo is very nice place with good ambiance, lively, modern. The service was adequate, no real attempt to make you feel special. The food was also just adequate - nothing wrong, just nothing outstanding. They used to make guacamole fresh at your table, but that apparently has gone away, it now comes already made (I assume fresh from the kitchen). But the price is $11-12 for some decent guac? They have a big selection of tequila and decent wines. The beer list is awful - not one single local Chicago beer available? Overall the service and food do not match the facility, ambiance and price.
Vegetarian options are limited, but they were able to accommodate us! Margaritas are great! Ambiance is amazing
Our server Jesse has been with cantina laredo for a long time and was wonderful.
