Great food and service. Tends to be booked up with reservations so book your spot in advance! Worth it!
As a celiac I am often restricted in what I can eat, in lots of restaurants. Which is something that you know when you eat out - but that is not the case for Cantina Gia…. It was the very opposite. I felt like it was my birthday! I got to eat Arancini balls…. Arancini balls! Covered in zero gluten, cooked in a celiac safe fryer, which only did totally GF things, I was blown away. Then add to that - the free access I had to the rest of the menu. Incredible service from the knowledgeable bar tender Jess, who was awesome. Delicious wine. And outstanding food. I will be back there as fast as I can get a booking! Highly recommend.
Have you ever had your mouth joyously conquered by a literal army of flavour? You have? Then you have some sense of what Cantina Gia is doing when they figuratively inject their offerings with battalions of aromatics, oils, and spices. Good luck!
Great food, great service
Our server - Jessica - was excellent! Thx for a fun birthday night :)
As always, Gia offered up stellar, jovial service, and immaculately prepared EVERYTHING. My friend and I shared the Branzino and had our taste buds veritably NAPALMED by the flavour. Rest in peace, my mouth. Good night.
We had 6 dishes of which the only one that was really good was the lamb stew
Pesto vegetarian dish mediocre
Amazing service and food!
Exceptional service and outstanding cuisine. One of my favorite restaurants
Le service est super chaleureux et attentionné. On se sent chez soi. C’est le but je crois.
La nourriture et la carte des vins sont impeccables!!!
Great little place! Delicious corn arancini and bruschetta. Great wine list.
Ambience was great. Good was sadly disappointing and flavourless. Expected much better food
Food is simple, fresh and well seasoned. Service was friendly and quick. We had a very nice lunch.
Lamb ragu was the bomb
I hesitate to tell everyone how wonderful this place is…because it will get tougher to find a reservation! One of my favourite places in town for a great meal…escaping to an Italian bistro with friendly servers. The Branzini and Cacio e Pepe are AMAZING and the wine list caters to the food beautifully. A bit loud when at capacity, so maybe not perfect for a serious conversation…but otherwise buzzing for a great local night out
I have lived in Ottawa for 7 years and this has been the best dinner I have ever eaten in this city. From the appetizers of fried zucchini, calamari, arancini and the main pastas, we were in love. Also the best pannacotta ever. This is just the best place ever, amazing food, FUN drinks and impeccable vibes
Lovely atmosphere, order the filetto di manzo with rosemary potatoes as well as the grilled branzino both paired with a lovely bottle of Prosecco. Highly recommend!
Quaint and delicious. Large serving sizes. Enjoyed very much but tables close together
Great service as always!!
The Cacio e pepe is out of the world.
One of our favourite restaurants in Ottawa. Food is always fantastic, super consistent. Servers are wonderful. Always such a great experience! Also a fabulous selection of wines to buy
Excellent time and delicious food
I enjoy the dinner menu more than lunch. Sandwich was more bread than I enjoy. Would still go back!
Great service and atmosphere! Very cute and intimate for small get togethers
Lovely lunch and service
Exceptionally good food
Decor reminded us of our visits to Tuscany, Very tasty food. Friendly and attentive staff. Very enjoyable evening. We would definitely return.
This was our second visit to Cantina Gia. Once again, an excellent experience. Our only concern would be with the volume level of the music. We do appreciate how music contributes significantly to atmosphere; however, when the volume level makes it difficult to communicate with one's dining partner and with the server (especially when she is wearing a COVID mask), it is a bit much. We were there for a 6pm seating. I recommend keeping the volume at a moderate level for early seatings, say, til 8pm. Perhaps the later crowd would better appreciate a more energetic level of music.
Great place for lunch, food was amazing, service impeccable. Will do again definitively
It's a beautifully decorated restaurant with nice plating, and delicious orange juice. The music is too loud to have a conversation without having to shout though (this may result in the further spread of droplets and potentially COVID-19). The tables also appeared a bit too close together as I was given a dirty look when I was seated at the table next to a couple who had already started their meal. I didn't feel comfortable so I asked to be moved since there were many available tables. The host/server reluctantly agreed and I was given a table to the left of my original table. There was a takeout bag already on it, but she moved it to a nearby couch and didn't clean the table (presumably because it was cleaned before the takeout bag was placed on it?) While our server appeared polite, her tone suggested that something was bothering her. We weren't given spoons with our pasta dishes, but we should have asked for them. It would have been easier to eat. My carbonara dish was a lot saltier than I expected, but I didn't say anything as I thought that is the way it is supposed to taste. I just drank lots of water during and after my meal, and when I got home. When we asked for our bill, we were a bit shocked that it took so long as we noticed that they had to turn people away at the door. Anyhow, kudos to the person/people who designed the interior. It is an Instagram-worthy place!
A wonderful evening with dear friends, delicious food, and impeccable service!
Absolutely delicious brunch, looking forward to returning soon!
The food is terrific!
Cantina Gia was amazing! Food was excellent but the service was even better. A must try in Ottawa!
Overall great pasta. Appetizers a bit greasy.
Super loud music.
Server at the table every few minutes. Interrupted often- wasn’t that relaxing
Outstanding restaurant. Strong Italian influence in the menu. Fabulous, attentive service - you wouldn't know that COVID is still underway. Fun, energetic atmosphere - a little loud for us (60-ish couple), but not overly so. Good for all ages in the early evening hours (1730-1800-ish). Uniquely hip place for Bank St. We will be back.
Excellent service! Beautiful
decor and delicious food. They were so kind to my young daughter
An ambient, classy, and unique vibe in the heart of the Glebe!
Heard great things about this place and it lived up to the strong reviews. Great space, great staff, great food and great overall vibe.
Food was excellent but it could have been warmer. It was very noisy.
