Chef Matt and Yuka are the best. We had Ashley taking care of us through a rainy evening. Always an exceptional dinner at canoe house regardless of the weather
Nice overall. Reservation system is wacky. I’ve trying for days to get reserv. None available. I happened to check OpenTable last night and there were multiple openings. Even though I signed up for alerts, I never received any.
Wow. This is an incredible restaurant. We will be back just so that we can dine here again.
Amazing view and delicious food, along with excellent service!
Phenom food and views and superlative service
Fantastic all around. We both chose the tasting menu. Each course was fantastic and the service was excellent.
Service was excellent; friendly, down-to-earth and attentive. We did the tasting menu which was a nice range of flavors and ingredients, albeit mostly fish. Wine list was extensive. Ambience can’t be beat. We experienced a picturesque sunset. Highly recommend.
We felt rushed the food came out vary fast. One appetizer came out after my main. It was odd.....they rushed us with food but waited 10 min for s&p and another long wait for our check. Food was good but I won't go back.
Outstanding upscale Hawaiian inspired seafood and steaks. Even better ambiance steps from the beach and views of sunset over the ocean right from our table. Highly recommend the chef’s tasting menu. We’d absolutely come here again next time on the Big Island.
We did the tasting menu and it was fantastic. We also did the wine pairing which was great. The food was delicious and the sunset views were also amazing.
Overrated for the price tag.
Expected more ocean dishes/actually more meat then fish on menu.
Food was good, but not exceptional as anticipated.
Desert was the best part of the meal!
Pull apart bread, gyoza and the catch of the day, a snapper, we’re excellent. Grilled Kampachi (amberjack) was meh, and the trumpet mushrooms didn’t work. We had a lovely Albariño ($75 per bottle). Poke was fine but not the best we’ve had. The server took a long time to take our enter orders. The front desk/hostesses were terrific and let us linger over drinks way after our table was ready. Know this, you can only get reservations 48 hours in advance (on Open Table) and it fills up fast. Lovely setting on a huge outdoor seaside deck at the upscale Mauna Lani hotel.
Wonderful. Everything was delicious, and the service was perfect.
The setting was amazing...very similiar to the ULU Grille at Hualalai.
Food was very good...we did a 6 course special of different items.
I think our server was either just too busy or forgot about us a few times . It was not the service you would expect at a place of this caliber and $$$$.
We have eaten at places like this before and had better more relaxed service. Who knows though...with COVID ...,maybe they were short staffed although other servers around us seemed to be doing a much better job.
One of the most beautiful settings to enjoy excellent food. Service was impeccable.
Wonderful. From the like-able knowledgeable bartenders to a very nice server it was a great night. Yuka the owner of the restaurant popped by for a hello. The food and drink was wonderful. We ordered dessert and final drink and walked toward the ocean to sit by the fire pits. Fantastic way to end the night. Even though we had closed our bill the server checked in on us anyway. Just wonderful. Great people, food and experience. Thank you!
We ordered the multiple course dinner and had wonderful wine pairings. Sophisticated and fresh ingredients in a stunning beach front location.
The setting was matched only by the superb .quality of dish. Memorable evening.
Came to Canoehouse for our honeymoon. Heard amazing reviews prior to dining and it did not disappoint! Big food lovers from Los Angeles and we were BLOWN AWAY by the food, ambiance and service. Indi is hands down the best “dinner shaman” and guided us through the menu and created an evening we will never forget. Will be back as much as possible. Bravo to the team at Canoehouse. PS- do yourself a favor and order the milk bread!
Best fine dining on the Big Island! Dishes were creative and highly recommend the chef tasting menu. Even better the restaurant was accommodating to our dietary restrictions as well- something that many chefs with tasting menus won’t do. Thank you immensely to canoehouse for their fantastic service and giving us a vacation dinner to remember!
Kind server, nice music and tasty foods!
Made my day(honeymoon)!
Fabulous meal in a beautiful setting.
The appetizers (pepper, oysters, and mushrooms) were very good (flavor, portion, presentation). The main dishes (lobster and catch of the day) were bland and very dry.
Always a fine dining experience! Our favorite spot on Big Island...
This place is a true foodie heaven and our family loved it! We went multiple times and couldn't get enough of the delicious food, beautiful ocean-front ambiance and phenomenal service, starting with lovely Ms Yuka who graciously remembered us from our last trip and seated at our favorite table. They specialize in a variety of delicious sauces featured in every dish and we shared multiple plates including unique tangy edamame, mouth-watering corn ribs, shokupan hot bread (great for cleaning out sauces from plate bottoms), unbelievable fried rice with egg, Kauai shrimp, yummy fingerling potatoes, and citrusy green salad. Don't miss one of the amazing fresh fish selections as your main course (they also have red meat dishes which we didn't try). Loved the cocktails and well-chilled Cotes de Provence rose. Make sure you leave room for dessert - we tried three including chocolate cake with local coffee ice-cream, one goat cheese and another fruit-based, all were outstanding. Can't wait to go back!
Everything we ate was Spectacular!
A must visit on the Big Island
We did the tasting menu which was phenomenal! We added in the gyoza which were amazing as well. The opaka opaka and the daikon radish salad were the biggest hits. Lovely evening and setting.
Food was delicious. For 2 people, the ideal scenario would be for 1 person to do the tasting menu, and then add a la carts items that are can’t miss such as the milk bread, corn ribs, and sashimi. A bit pricey but very good and great vibe overlooking the ocean
We came for our first anniversary and were impressed with the food, the ambience, and the overall service. The staff was super friendly and welcoming!! It was a lovely evening and I would highly recommend for any occasion!
We enjoyed the dishes we ordered immensely. However selections were somewhat limited if you don’t appreciate seafood. Very pricey — you pay more for the location than for the meal.
Best dinner we had on our trip. Delicious creative cuisine that was a truly unique experience.
The Canoe House continues to impress even during extremely busy Festive season. The care and attention every person at our table of four received by all of the Canoe staff was delivered with Aloha. Our night was a lovely way to enjoy “friendsgiving”!
Extraordinary views and amazing food! We loved our experience!
An amazing dining experience. Very accommodating for vegans and absolutely delicious. Service was impeccable as was the location. Highly recommend.
Last day on Island of Hawaii. Delightful though pretty darn humid (even with 7:30 pm reservation). Stsff was terrific and I had THe best G&T ever—trying to recreate it at home. Food wonderful (corn “ribs”, gnocchi and hearts of palm salad) and THE best coffee ice cream we’ve ever had as well. Would return in a heartbeat!
By far, the best place near Waikolia to have a great dinner and watch the sunset. The scenery was awesome. Our service and food was outstanding. Not sure how the evening could have been any better…. The architecture of the restaurant and resort is something to see….. Just a fantastic experience…. The fine Japanese cuisine is as good as anything I have had in Japan.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful dining experience, celebrating our anniversary at Canoehouse! Hands down one of the best restaurants we have ever visited. Ian offered exceptional service and knowledge of the menu. He was attentive yet graceful and so kind when we asked him to take photos of us. The ambiance was so beautiful and we felt so lucky to be able to watch the sunset during our meal - it made the experience that much more memorable! I've already recommended Canoehouse to my fellow fine dining family and friends and we will definitely be back the next time we visit the island! Mahalo chef and all the wonderful staff for the experience!
