Dinner was exquisite
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Canoehouse and it was a magical experience. We had the (5) course meal which was outstanding and the view of the ocean made the experience complete.
Excellent service and delicious food! Such a beautiful restaurant.
One of the most romantic spots you can choose, especially during sunset.
Excellent food, drinks and view. One of the best restaurants anywhere with an amazing view.
A wonderful end to our Hawaii vacation. We had a table during sunset. The food and drinks were all good. Service was excellent. We were able to move to the fire pit at the end of our dinner for more cocktails. We will come back.
Very much enjoyed the vibe at this open-air, oceanfront spot. We were celebrating an anniversary and they were very gracious. Food was delicious and we didn't feel rushed at all.
My husbands birthday beautiful sunset and they brought him birthday dessert wonderful service
Food was generally good, (a bit on the salty side) service was impeccable as usual, the bar table we got with our reservation was a let down. There just wasn’t enough space for a proper dinner. Between the sparkling water, bottle of wine, our cups, and food it was a constant jenga trying to shuffle the food dishes, sharing plates, and our drinks. Not very relaxing.
Wish they kept a profile on guests since we just ordered the same thing the night before (also open table reservation) and it would have been quite apparent the bar table would be a bad experience for the waitress playing Tetris with the plates and for us playing jenga trying to dine with zero buffer space on the table.
Just want to reiterate the food and service was otherwise good.
The Remodled CanoeHouse was Amazing, great food served by attentive, knowlegable staff. An all round amazing expierence, plus an amazing Sunset, what more could you ask for.
The most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. The food is amazing and the vibe is unforgettable. Highly recommend!!!
Absolutely stunning place with delightful food
Great food, service and experience. Fabulous
Our team of Sara and Graeme were really the best you can get! They helped us with menu questions, and made great suggestions! We had a wonderful outside table with a gorgeous view! The food was fabulous and made my husbands birthday dinner one we won’t forget! We’ve found a new favorite restaurant on the Big Island! Thank you Sara and Graeme!!
We will be back next spring!
The mai tai didnt taste like a mai tai and they brought 3 entrees out and the 4th one 5 mins later.Iwouldnt go back, sorry
Beverages way overpriced. Figure $50 for two drinks and get ready to dig deeper for the tip! My marlin was overcooked and dry. My oyster mushrooms were blah.
Spectacular setting. Great service, delicious cocktails and a fantastic menu. Half of us did the prix fixe dinner the others ordered straight from the .menu. The pull apart bread was buttery goodness and the wagyu appetizer a delight. Steaks are on point. We had the panna cotta dessert and ate every spoonful.
Fun and delicious menu!
Phenomenal in every respect. Go if you can.
The view, the food and the service were far beyond our expectations. It was a very special evening. The reservations were a challenge, but worth the effort.
The service was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, not rushed.
The view there is wonderful. Gorgeous coastline and ocean sunset.
The only thing that marred the environment was the loud, bass thumping music. It seemed at odds with the peaceful setting.
The two of us had 5 small dishes (no mains) plus sharing dessert to taste as many things as we could. Everything was beautifully presented.
The corn ribs were delivered quickly. They were cooked well, with bright flavorings.
The beef and foie gras gyoza was one of our favorite dishes. Delicious!
The tuna warayaki was nicely presented, with the server adding the smoke element with a blowtorch at the table. The tuna was fresh, mustard miso was good but overall we didn't find the taste to be particularly memorable. The warayaki didn't seem worth the price.
The tatsoi and oyster mushroom was the most generous dish and another of our favorites.
The pull apart bread sort of grew on us and was great for sopping up juice from other dishes.
We shared the lemon creme fraiche semifreddo for dessert. We're both good cooks, and were looking for something different from what we might make in our kitchens. We both gave the semifreddo high marks with its combination of bright lemon ice cream contrasting the billowy creme fraiche and crispy raspberry and pistachios.
Overall, the Canoe House is a lovely dining experience in a gorgeous setting.
Just fantastic! We’ve been coming for 25 years through all the iterations and the newest does not disappoint! Only complaint was as we were not staying at hotel we could only book late times 2 days before. But the meal was so delicious, it was worth it to do sunset at Ha and later dinner at Canoehouse. We are pescatarians and opted for the 5 course paired with Roderer Brut champagne. Just wow.
Beautiful place. Pricey meals. Good time
The entire team at the Canoe House was AMAZING!!
They made our anniversary very special.
The food, service, ambiance, and setting made our first night and dinner in Hawaii extremely a memory that will last forever.
Food and atmosphere were so good it should be illegal. It has ruined cuisine for me. The desserts were out of this world good
Our return trip was as good as the first. Food, service and view all excellent.
The best meal we had on the island!
Family in town visiting
The food was excellent. Particularly the smoked pork jowl and the pull apart bread. My wife and daughter liked the tenderloin the most. The restaurant is definitely pricey though. Service was excellent.
Best Fine Dining Experience on the Big Island!
The beautifully redesigned Canoe House is beautifully situated overlooking the tranquil beach of the Mauna Lani hotel. Service is professional yet friendly, food selection is varied and preparation/presentation are truly stellar. Do not miss this restaurant!
Had the 5 course My Meal, it was perfect! The service, the timing, the ambiance and the food were all great!
Beautiful location. Portion sizes could be bigger. Service was amazing.
Really enjoyed the overall experience. Best meal during our stay.
A wonderful experience all around.
Canoe House was amazing from the beginning to the end. I want to start by saying that the staff was very professional & attentive, quick response to a request. The food was delicious and hit beyond our expectations. We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
We were celebrating our 40th anniversary. We had a lovely time.
Canoe house was absolutely incredible. Great service , great location, great ambiance. And the food was outstanding
Nice setting, innovative food (chef's prix-fixe menu - $95). Solid but pricey wine list (had the La Montesa Crianza - tasty!). Bill for 3 diners with cocktails, bottle of wine, food, tax and tip was $544.
