Cute restaurant but damn the service sucked. Not the fault of the waitress. She was lovely but everything ran very long. We had reservations for 7:45 and weren't seated until around 8:00. No big deal though... we got to our table and ordered around 8:10. Our drinks took forever but our food didnt arrive until 9:15 (timestamped by my photos). I had plans to meet up with friends in the area, but because of being seated late and the length of time to get our food, eat, and pay, we didnt leave until 10...for a party of two! To top it off, the rolls were just ok. The Tokyo Night was 5 out of 5. The lobster roll was 3 out of 5-the sauces were good but the crispy part tasted a bit overcooked. The R&B roll was a 1 out of 5...it just lacked flavor, except for the sirloin and it wasn't rolled very tight, falling apart when trying to eat it. The total bill with drinks was $160. Not cheap and a bit disappointing for this kind of price tag.

We had a reservation at 115 pm to celebrate Father’s Day this afternoon along with my husband and son. The entire experience from start to end was terribly disappointing. When we arrived, no one was at the reception to greet us. Finally this lady shows up 5 minutes later with a grumpy face. She checked us in with a very cold attitude. We go to our table and our waiter comes and greets us and leaves us the menu. Now he disappears for 10 minutes. Finally he is back and we quickly place order for drink and food. We ordered Calamari and two specialty and our regular Sushi. Calamari and drinks arrive on time. It was over 45 minutes wait for food and the food was absolutely poor quality. If you are spending $150 for lunch for 2 adults and a kid you better get decent food and service. Since we were so hungry and tired of waiting so long for food we asked to speak with Manager. Interestingly, Manager simply rolls by our table saying we will give you some discount and free dessert. She never waited for even 2 minutes at our table. This was a complete waste of money. We declined free dessert. 20% discount is absolutely meaningless after running the entire experience. There are enough places with better food quality and service around. We doubt we will ever go back to Cannon ball or recommend it to any of our friends and family. This was a special occasion and if meant a lot to us to get it right. Disappointed .

Great food. Terrible service. Our server, Jake, was more interested in drooling over a table of younger women than being attentive to myself, my boyfriend, and my parents for our lunch. Jake further messed up our table’s order and did nothing to make it right. For the price point, I would have expected better service or at least an attempt to take our fountain drinks or an appetizer off our nearly $200 bill.

I love coming here every time we’re in San Diego! Food is amazing! They had live music with the ocean view perfect for a date night!

I have been here a handful of times now and most of the time I had a great time. However, the last time I was there there was a DJ set going on next door that was so obnoxiously loud it completely ruined the atmosphere. I am not an old person and I do not mind loud music but this was VERY loud and completely put a damper on our whole dinner. On top of that, we had to ask multiple times to get more sake and shot glasses and the sake got cold. The steak tataki used to be really good, almost like a carpaccio, but this time it was thicker pieces of medium cooked steak. Overall, disappointed with my last visit there.

We’ve been to this place a couple times it is a really good spot, the food is great and the views are amazing. We have had a few parties there and it’s a great spot with a good deal of room to spread out. Overall give it a thumbs up for all that it delivers

There is MUCH better "Americanized" sushi in San Diego. Harney in Old Town is 10 mins away and so much better if your goal is creative rolls while still having high quality fish. My issue with Cannonball is the rolls are very one note, missing crunchy + saucy + soft + high quality fish. And very small rolls. Truly bite-size, smaller than grocery store sushi. While the view is unbeatable, the food is very meh. I am local and come every 12-18 mos to see how it is, hoping it's gotten better but it has not. In fact, it's on my do not return list. Also they could not regulate the heat lamp. Either an infierno or nothing. Windy, overcast, cool, May Gray evening when having some heat was mandatory. This is a pass.

I’ve visited Cannonball many times and have always enjoyed the food and hospitality. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing. It took 25 minutes for a server to come to our table, and we were told there was a mix-up about who was supposed to serve us. While I understand that mistakes happen, what bothered me most was that the servers handling the nearby tables saw us sitting and waiting but never acknowledged us. A simple gesture like, “I’ll make sure someone is with you shortly,” would have made a big difference. It felt like no one really cared, and that was disheartening. Sadly, after this experience, it’s unlikely that I’ll return.
