About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
Can Can is a French brasserie and bakery in Cary Court Shopping Center. With seating for over 140 in the main dining room, an Art Nouveau inspired private dining room that seats up to 60 guests or over 100 for cocktails, and a full-service bakery and pastry kitchen supplying all of its breads, pastries, and desserts, the restaurant’s versatility should provide the area an array of options and events.

Can Can provides nonstop service morning, noon, and night and looks to give the local neighborhood, businesses, and Richmond visitors, a home away from home, an office away from the office, a place of refuge, or a stage for celebrating with friends.

A Parisian-style steak frites eatery in a classic bistro setting with dark woods, tiles & mirrors.

Good food, not great. Monte Carlo was disappointing. Service was slow and inattentive, probably because tip was automatic. Doubt I’ll return.

It was prom night, so quite a bit noisier than expected. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. Highly recommended.

Disappointing dinner at Can Can. We have been there 3 times prior to this, and we liked it then. Tonight though, the food was mediocre at best. If it was not for the desserts, I would've given it 2-stars rating. The desserts were great - we had a tart and profiteroles. The main course however was a miss for each of us. The salmon used way too much pepper, and the side dish was hardly warm. Duck leg - very unimpressive, not what you expect in a French brasserie. And the hamburger was okay, but the french fries that came with it - room temperature, probably was prepared in advance and had been sitting for a long time before it was served. I don't think I will go there again any time soon. Too bad.

I was disappointed to see that the Bœuf Bourguignon was not on the menu anymore. I got the Bouillabaisse instead and it lacked flavor and body. Service was good.

Wonderful quiche and salad for lunch. Our beautiful waitress was delightful and took great care of us. Sitting by the open windows on a beautiful day is a perfect spot.

The Brussels sprouts were delicious. The steak frites were good but were served at room temperature. The frites were tasty but would’ve been so much better hot. Our server, Connor, was excellent.

We went for brunch. The food was super tasty and our servers were friendly. We had 2 servers as one was in training. We’ll be back!

I have dined at Can Can for years and its quality has taken a disappointing down turn. The bouillabaisse was over salted and lacking in fish. We paid for a bread basket and when I asked for the rye to be added to our basket, was told I’d have to pay extra for it. The general ambience has changed with the change in ownership. Very sad to see.

The oysters were wonderful, but the I had to ask the server where they were from and when I ordered, he didn’t ask which I wanted, so I had to specify- also he didn’t know beyond a general region, which is unusual. Drinks were excellent when they finally came. Truffled Caesar salad was a disappointment. A few whole romaine leaves with 5 croutons that were nothing special and one small anchovy. Not overdressed which was nice, but not even a hint of anything “truffle”. Mouse Frites were excellent. Plump mussels and nice frites, generous portion of both.
