Calusa at Baker's Cay Resort Key Largo
The view is incredible - definitely sit outside on the patio. The food and service were great!
The food was very good, but the service is seriously lacking. Although the service was friendly, it was obvious that these were not experienced waiters and busboys. We sat at our table for about ten minutes before anyone came by to ask if we wanted water. Our glasses were not refilled until we asked for it. The busboy just dropped the appetizer forks off of our plates and onto the table instead of taking them. We were done with the appetizers so we didn’t need the appetizer fork anymore. We could have ignored it, but he literally tipped the plates on their side and let the forks fall to the table. I know they haven’t been open very long, but the staff needs better training. Although our food was very good, and the desserts were absolutely delicious, the lack of service will probably keep us from returning.
The food is delicious. It is a casual upscale restaurant. Menu is limited but offers a little bit of everything. Staff is attentive but not overbearing. Highly recommend.
Just loved it so much. Super good food and an amazing restaurant.
Calusa is a lovely place to dine. the service is outstanding, everyone we encountered there was kind, polite and professional. the food has Caribbean flavors. the desserts, especially the Key Lime Pie are excellent.
It does get warm outside in the summer months and there are mosquitoes, if you want to eat indoors go early. They have the best bread and butter! Thank you!
Don’t bother making special requests or state seating preferences. These are simply ignored.
Our server, Cindy was fabulous! The crafted cocktails delish and the food very tasty! We will be back soon.
A touch overpriced for Seafood Pasta with 3 shrimp and 2 small lobster claws but we get we're paying for the ideal Bay Views. Menu is a touch limited, but overall selection and ambiance is fine.
What an amazing dinner!! Try to sit outside if you can for an unforgettable view especially sunset. Great service from beginning to end:)
Great food and ambiance ! But really slow service.
We enjoyed 3 meals during our stay this past weekend and were very impressed with the entire experience. We look forward to returning sometime soon! Thanks again
We dined here while on vacation staying at Bakers Cay. The outside seating had a great view of the ocean and was perfect to watch the sunset. Highly recommended.
The food was very good. For appetizers we had the conch fritters and chowder, both great. For dinner I had the keys pink and lobster pasta which was excellent, my wife had the blackened grouper which had great flavor but was a bit dry. All in all a very nice experience.
We were staying on property at Baker's Cay and ate here for both breakfast and dinner twice. All of the times we ate here the food was very good and the service was good too. Will definitely visit again on a return visit to the resort.
It would be difficult to find a restaurant with a more picturesque location. Overlooking Florida Bay, the views above the trees are fantastic. The service was first rate from all staff. The food was excellent with plenty of options to suit most people on the menu. Overall a wonderful dining experience.
Excellent restaurant offering great variety of dishes. Every thing tasted great, and the drinks from the bar were super. Inside or outside seating. Prices were very reasonable.
Great restaurant with a ocean treetop view. Food was pricey, but outstanding. Our waitress was outstanding as well
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful . I book through open table because I have never been disappointed - until now . Wasted $300 on dinner for 3 with the worst service I have ever received and mediocre food . The manager is worthless and the employees are clearly miserable . I will never step foot on this property again and I hope you won’t waste your time or money here either - there are so many other excellent restaurants in the keys . We tried something new tonight and were utterly dissatisfied and disappointed .
The scallop dinner was delicious along with the corn succotash and fresh veggies of asparagus, carrot, and brussel sprouts. What a great dessert of chocolate cheesecake with raspberry sauce to end the meal!
We had a delicious dinner with beautiful views of the sunset! The staff was Great ! They were all very pleasant and very attentive!
This place was amazing. I had the whole fish broiled in a banana leaf and my wife had the pasta. Plenty of food and excellent service. We have been staying here for a few days so some of the team knew who we were which made it a special touch. Highly recommend!
It was my moms bday and we had a beautiful time. Jerika was wonderful.
exceptonal everything here!!! will be back soon for sure
excellente , I love the place the services , amazing family
Very disappointed. Booked for Mother’s Day, they did not have a notation that it would be buffet style in 2 different rooms. Lots of running around to the outside area to fetch food - did not get to enjoy my time. in addition the champagne advertised was not available unless you wanted to pay a $20 up charge. The food was the basic every day hotel breakfast with some really basic additional items that were not particularly warm or appealing. Will not go back.
Very nice. We wanted a romantic evening with a beautiful sunset and we weren't disappointed. We requested outside seating on the upper tier and wow!
Loved the complimentary sunset toast.
We were only there for the dining but the resort looks like a beautiful place to stay when vacationing...I definitely reccomend.
Had to wait 20 minutes for hostess to show up. Had a reservation, but she said they had no tables anywhere. There were 4 different couples all waiting in line to which she just rolled her eyes and walked away. We went to bar area, waited another 20 minutes before bartender of only 3 people at the bar finally stopped by. We asked about eating dinner at the bar and he said it depends on how the kitchen is doing. An honest answer I suppose. I wouldn’t even bother going to this place. It was very clear they have a captive audience and they could care less about the customers.
Beautiful restaurant with a spectacular view. Food was just ok and overpriced. Staff was friendly, but our waiter was inattentive on the night we visited.
We made reservations for lunch for 12:15 for a table overlooking the water. Sadly, we had to wait a very long time to get a table that had a water view. However, in the end, all worked out and the value was great. The food delicious and we enjoyed the drinks to celebrate both Easter and a special anniversary.
Easter brunch was impressive with carving stations of ham and prime rib. There was even a candy bar set up for the kids, my son loved it!
Probably some of the best food in the Keys. View is beautiful, atmosphere had lots of people and a band, service was friendly and present, presentation was like I have never seen and DRINKS....yum! All just spot on.
We ordered the surf and turf without the lobster. It only took $6 off the price. I ordered my steak well done but it was medium. The waitress came to check back 5 to 10 minutes after. We told her it was way undercooked and she did offer to have it taken back. At that point, we had waited too long and didn’t want it microwaved. Instead of taking the steak off or given a 50% discount, they gave us a free dessert to share. There were only 3 other diners there at the time so it wasn’t a matter of it being busy. $120 for 3 Mini drumsticks, 2 salads and an underprepared steak minus the lobster isn’t worth the cost. No bread with dinner either.
Very nice and Professional Property. The staff was out of sight!
I struggle with this review. The food was very good. Burrata salad - wonderful, fish cooked in banana leaf - very subtle flavor but delicious, key lime pie - superb! Other items we ordered (conch fritters, etc) good. The setting is beautiful. We were there for sunset and the trees, water, and sun provide a spectacular backdrop for dinner. The service and ambiance brought our last dinner in Key Largo down, however. First, there was a large group of three families with young children on the same level as us (parents one end of the table and kids at the other) who all just got louder and more "out of their seats" as the night wore on. Not the restaurant's fault, but little was done to curb their effect on the other diners. We received our appetizer and salads at the same time, our server thought she had closed us out while we were waiting and waiting to order dessert, and we finally requested, on our own, a move to a quieter table for dessert. Unfortunately, the inside seating area is all hard surfaces, so quiet was relative. I hope the restaurant continues to work to provide a consistent level of food quality, ambiance, and service to have a real winner here. The potential is there.
Beautiful tree top setting, food was great
Beautiful setting, great desserts and service.
Excellent food. Great water view from a 3rd floor balcony. Pricey but worth it.
We had a table on the upper level, outside along the rail, and enjoyed watching the sun go down. The food is served hot and has wonderful flavor. The half roasted chicken is fantastic, the surf and turf was perfectly prepared. The jerk shrimp app was so flavorful and fresh. Our children loved the chicken fingers and the hummus appetizer. Our servers were very attentive, yet gave us time to enjoy our meal. Highly recommend!
Didn’t know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised with the very good meal. Everything was hot and tasted delicious.
Outstanding employees very friendly and outgoing. Make you feel part of the family
