Callie represents Chef Travis Swikard's debut solo project after spending a decade working alongside the esteemed Chef Daniel Boulud in New York City. The restaurant’s name, "Callie," comes from the Greek word "kallos," meaning "the most beautiful," and embodies its blend of Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients and terroir, from sea to land from San Diego, Swikard's hometown. In 2022, Callie was acclaimed as one of America's top new restaurants by Esquire and Robb Report, and received both a Bib Gourmand and a Plate from the Michelin Guide. Callie is a dedicated supporter of Feeding San Diego, having contributed over 1 million meals to those in need in San Diego since its launch. Swikard is set to open his second restaurant in La Jolla in 2025.

    Our parking garage is located in the building, but because of the one way streets downtown, the entrance is on 11th Avenue between J St and Island Ave, on the right. The parking garage has a sign '1155 Parking' over top and is through LAZ. For security purposes, the gate will be down when you pull up, you will press the kiosk for a ticket. Once you've parked, take the elevators in the center up to the lobby and be sure to get your ticket validated by a host. Validation is good up to three hours.

    Mediterranean Feast - Parties of 7 & 8 For the ultimate dining experience, choose The Mediterranean Feast, a 5-course, family-style menu priced at $80 per guest. This menu, curated by Chef Travis Swikard, provides a full culinary journey from spreads to dessert. While the Feast is required for parties of 7 or 8, it is also available to all guests without advance notice. When booking, please let us know of any dietary restrictions so we can accommodate them. To secure your reservation, a credit card is needed, but no charge will apply unless you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or do not show up. In those cases, a $10 per guest fee will be charged to the credit card on file.

Together, they will craft a one night only menu that pays homage to the rich bounty of San Diego and Northern Baja - from our local farmers and fisherman to the bold, sun-drenched flavors that define our region. As a thank you for 4 unforgettable years, every guest will receive the Callie pantry - a curated collection of preserved lemons, housemade hot sauces, and signature spices to bring a taste of our kitchen into yours. Additionally, for every Flavors of the Sun dinner sold, Callie will donate $5 to Feeding San Diego - providing 10 meals for San Diegans in need.     This place is a 12 out of 10! If you haven’t experienced the Mediterranean Feast, you’re missing out. I am never disappointed when I leave there. This is my happy place in San Diego.

    Incredible experience. We've been to Callie 4 or so times now but last night was another level. The produce they have access to is insane - we had the asparagus, the beets, the squash blossom, the artichokes, and the setas - which all tasted like they were harvested that day from the farm. Then we had the fish of the day (Halibut), the lamp chops, the risotto (which tasted like elevated candy). It was an outrageous amount of food for 3 people but beyond worth being that full for. Service and ambiance were also outstanding.

    Incredible cuisine. Aleppo chicken - normally one does not rave about the chicken dish, and yet here one is… raving! Phenomenal 🤌🏽

    This is my 5th visit to Callie and they have yet to disappoint me! I love to introduce out of town guests to the level of food and experience that they are accustomed to in SF, Chicago and NY. Callie meets that need consistently and all guests are impressed with the food and service.

    Finally made it in to the highly acclaimed Callie and it did not disappoint. Pricing leads this to be a special occasion spot but one not to be missed. I ordered the babaghanoush, a delicious artichoke, pea and mint salad. My entree was a sea special of the day; Spot Prawns Al Ajillo and dessert was listed as meyer lemon pavlova. The baba was good but, both the salad and prawns were SUBLIME. I thought the dessert was underwhelming and not properly described. It was a very petite dab of lemon curd with a couple of meringes to garnish-not recommended, if I'm honest. I'm a huge pavlova fan and this was meh. The service team was professional and catered very nicely to myself as a solo diner. I appreciated that parking is available in the building and validated by Callie for up to 3 hours. This place is my kind of food and I would return just for small plates and vino to feast on the flavors again!

    Every dish was a hit. I didn’t taste or perceive any weaknesses. Whole wheat pita (reminded me of Indian paratha), delish hummus, artichokes, octopus, halibut, crunchy carrots and a rice pudding to die for. Best of all it’s downtown San Diego for those diners that don’t mind urban dining. We’re visiting from NYC so downtown dining was deja vu for us. Bravo!

    I am a big Callie fan, but the last two times I was quite disappointed with the quality. The food after the starters was overly salty, and other than the first three small plates, nothing but the Turkish rice pudding dessert impressed me at all. The service also was somewhat lacking: the initial service was spectacular, but after we ordered we didn’t see our server again until dessert, and we were served several entrees “at once” which included octopus which wasn’t even hot when we started it; that is, it was either served late or in the moments it took us to organize ourselves and serve from the main plates, the octopus was barely warm. I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed with this visit (and our last visit was more similar to this than not)… I do acknowledge the exceptional menu and preparation and for those reasons I still gave four stars, but it was probably closer to three stars and, for the price point, perhaps even lower

    Can’t speak more highly about our dining experience at Callie. Tremendous service, better food. Can’t wait to come back next time we are in SD and recommend it to friends traveling there.

    This is the second time we have been here. Our first experience was great, but this time, we found a hair in the most expensive dish we ordered: their specialty duck. It was a long black hair and none of the diners at the table had long black hair so we knew it didn’t come from us. It was deep in the sauce and we did not notice it until it was almost in someone’s mouth. While the restaurant did bring out a replacement dish, they still charged us for it. I don’t believe we should have been charged at all especially since some of the diners at the table were so disgusted they did not touch the replacement dish at all. I did not expect such a poor response for an establishment that presents itself as fine dining and is attempting to get a Michelin star. I do want to note that our waiter that night was fantastic and his service throughout the night remained as such. Management, however, should have compensated us for this poor experience. We will not be back due to this experience.

    Top notch service and food as always! We loved all the dishes we tried and ended with the cookie dessert. Do not sleep on the Egyptian carrots’ One of our favorite places to dine in San Diego.
