   Lucy, James, Sam and Emma are fantastic! I have to mention all of them because they went out of their way to come to the table just to make sure we had everything that we needed. Been long time since I had such amazing attention.

   The food is a modern and refined twist on English and continental cuisine. The food is really good in general, but the service is even better. The restaurant is clean and has a fresh, open vibe. I would wholeheartedly recommend this gem of a restaurant to anyone.

   As I am a UK immigrant, you would think I’d have attended an Afternoon Tea prior to now, but I haven’t had the opportunity. That’s why I was so excited to take my daughter and her bestie for Afternoon Tea at California English. We booked it for 11:30 so we could enjoy a brunch vibe as well. We were seated promptly. The restaurant is an open space with plants reminiscent of a garden room. Very relaxing and pleasant. Our server was friendly and explained all our various options. All three went with the tipsy tea option, starting with tea cocktails. The girls chose the Mermaid’s Pool with pineapple tequila, fresh blueberry and lime. They loved their choice. I went with the Chai Tai, a delicious cocktail of rum, amaro, pineapple and chai syrup. The towers consisted of golden raisin scones, toffee madelines, chocolate tart, a miniature waffle cone with a chocolate filling, a lemon panna cotta, and finger sandwiches with a chicken tarragon salad and a spicy cheese spread with pimento. In addition to the tower feast, we ordered the hot honey fried chicken scone, lobster roll and the “Sloppy Joe” (pulled braised beef in a BBQ sauce). We had a lovely time. Wonderful food, friendly service and a pleasant environment. Highly recommend for Afternoon Tea or brunch.

   Saturday evening last minute reservation. Ambience was pleasant, service outstanding and very accommodating. Food was delicious but the fish and chips were a bit pricey. I noticed a couple splitting this entree between them. I would come again and try other items on the menu.

   Our first time at California English was for their 2nd Anniversary party. Truly impressed with the food, atmosphere and entertainment, cherry on top was meeting Richard Blais!!! The fish and chips seemed to be popular not only with us but everyone else as well. The London Fog drink was delicious and fun!! Highly recommend this place.

   Went to the happy hour. Menu offerings were good. Got the hot chicken scone and burger. The chicken scone had good flavor, nice heat, but subtracting one star on the food score since the scone was dry and tough. Could barely cut it with the knife. The burger was good but for a smash burger, no crispy edges like you’d expect. But the thick fries are out of this world! I’d go back just the fries! Fluffy on the inside crispy on the outside, served with curried ketchup. Delicious and unique! Servers were attentive and friendly. Ambiance on the patio was comfortable and relaxing. Cocktails were delicious. Overall a great spot for happy hour..
