Maybe it was an off day. My first time there but Service was terrible. Waitress was polite but all staff from moment we walked in had no sense of time. Seating was delayed, drink order delayed. Watching check back to other tables just took way too long.
Food was really good so chef is doing the job!
This was my third trip to the Cafe. 1st two times Were amazing. I was very disappointed after or dinner there this past weekend. I ordered a chicken curry and my husband lamb shank. Both were completely overcooked and the shank lacked flavor. The cost is on the high-end side which is great for fine dining but not for the quality we had this past weekend.
I had always heard good things about Cafe Soriah, but I wasn’t sure about the prices and middle eastern menu items. It was well worth it. My Steak Diane was mouth watering and so generous, I had lunch for the next day. The owner: Ib, makes all the flambé dishes on a little cart that was near our table. His technique was awesome and he was very friendly and accommodating. We went at 6:30 and were afraid we would be overlooked during the busy time period, but we had excellent service. Luckily there is parking at the car service garage next door and when we left it was clearing out, so we weren’t rushed or crushed! It was my birthday and I had the tiramisu dessert . It was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions. I don’t know if I would recommend it for kids, because the menu is sophisticated and the atmosphere feels adult. But, if your kids like any kind of food, it would be fine!
Everything was delicious and well seasoned, Calamari, Risotto, Ravioli and Salmon. Service was exceptional and Ib was there to welcome us. Our experience was like stepping inside a friend’s home, warm and welcoming, superb food and all food arrived promptly. Great for all kinds of occasions and wide range of vegetarian and other options.
Terrific meal with a wide selection of delectables. Need to go back and sample several more!
Just second visit to this unique restaurant. The flavors are amazing. We had the “famous “ steak Dianne and Ribeye on first visit. Had the Jericho Prawns and Lamb chops this time. Wife is not Lamb eater. She thought Prawns had too much citrus taste. She gave Prawns a7. I give Prawns a 10. Lamb chops were prepared perfectly and was seasoned with amazing spices. There are two additional Lamb dishes. I will be sampling them in next two visits. That is if their extraordinary specials don’t lure me off the menu.
By far one of the worst service I've experienced. My fiance ordered a cocktail drink and after receiving our appetizer (calamari) and watching two tables who came in after us get their drinks before her, we ask one of the waiter to check in our drinks. More than 15 later, still no drink. Finally after being in the restaurant for 40+minutes and watching the other table get a refill of their drinks and looking at the bar to see that the bartender was not there and the bar itself is empty, we told the waiter to cancel the drink. When we finally got our food (once again, only after the two tables that came in after us got theirs), our waitress told us she would like to apologize for the bartender as it was busy. Completely disgusted with this place and this will be the last time we come here
Ah, Soriah with friends this time, and couldn't have been more pleased. Have visited on a number of previous occasions in the past and have always been more than pleased. Calamari was available again and well received by the lot of us. Cannot get enough of the Steak Diane or Prawns Jericho and the shared wine and desert was well received as well.
The service was good, but my food was cold. My margarita was too sour for my liking. Unfortunately, I was on a date and didn’t feel comfortable complaining.
A great venue for a celebration or get together with friends - great food and nice atmosphere!
We travel once a year from California to Eugene on a visit to family in Oregon. We are always looking for a good Mediterranean Restaurant wherever we travel. Cafe Soriah is one of our favorites and for four years now we have had a wonderful family dinner paired with excellent wine. We had plenty of time to visit and are never rushed. A special evening on each visit and we will return again next year!
Second visit, food was as incredible as the first time, service was less impressive. Overall it's the best place in Eugene for a delicious, satisfying meal (at least the meat options are) in a restaurant with romantic ambiance.
Food was excellent - I had salmon, husband had surf and turf (steak Diane and lobster tail). Cocktails were exceptional. Very nice neighborhood atmosphere. Would definitely return.
The food was very good.. lunch sized and priced. The pickled veggies were amazing.
The talbes are very close together, and the first one we chose (by the window) was too wobbly so we changed. The server was very pleasant.
We so enjoyed everything from the beginning to the end. we started off with fresh bread, it tasted like it been baked that day! Kayla was the sweetest and suggested her favorite wine which, we loved. Our salad came out right away. The food was great like it been cooked with love. The Valentine's cake was perfect with a little heart cookie on the side; nice touch! We will be back! Loved it!
I feel like a fool. I have lived in the area for almost 4 years, and this was our first visit. This is the best dining experience I have had in Eugene. Everything was perfect. I could cut my rib eye with a fork. Enough said, just eat there!
Excellent food & service. Menu changes from time to time so new options become available.
Cafe soriah is one of THE best restaurants in the area! The chef cooks your main dish out front where everyone can see. The wait people are so friendly and welcoming. The food? Out of this world! Good sized potions as well. If you haven’t gone, GO!
Delicious food from this Eugene institution. Good drinks and decent service. The Lamb and Steak Diane were wonderful, flavorful, and very well served. Enjoy.
Great food! Hard to choose
Amazing food and great service. The steak Diane was so delicious!
Our waiter only came over 3 times. One to welcome us. 2 to ask if we wanted drinks. 3 to take our order. Didn’t see him again
The food was good as always, but maybe not as good as the last time I visited. They need to loose some tables and have larger tables (not enough room for appetizers) . It was VERY crowded which led to it being very very noisy. I could not hear the other 3 members of our party.
I have always enjoyed their Steak Dianne (and this visit was no exception) though I will note that in the past it had always included table side service. It was NOT included on my last visit so I (along with my party who had heard me rave about it all week) were a bit disappointed.
The meal was still great despite the subtraction of this much loved dinning experience.
Reliably great every time. Chef Ib is a local treasure.
Awesome, always awesome. I had the rack of lamb, my husband the rib-eye. Started with two different half-salads, a good size for a half, and had desserts. Food and service exemplary.
While I enjoyed the restaurant I do not enjoy the OPEN TABLE harassment of continually sending an email to evaluate my experience. I was unable to find a link to stop the harassment and so I am finally submitting this.
Excellent food; preparation and service. Steak Diane, their specialty was amazing along with the fluffy smooth mashed potatoes. The other entree was rack of lamb. Just as tasty. The service was exceptional. We've decided to go back for small plates the next time. Enjoyed the hummus, dolmas and baba ghanoush appetizer. That plus another small plate would make a nice dinner.
We made early (opening time) reservations and the hostess seated us in a dark noisy corner near the bar. She would not give us the vacant atrium table we wanted, instead she gave it to a walk-in couple a few minutes later. The reasoning that was so perfect to her was an insult to us. I wish I would have walked out. Been there before and it was a lot of fun. It will be a long time before I go back.
My son was down from Portland. He loved the Long Island Iced Tea. He ordered duck and loved it but wish it was served with risotto instead of potatoes.
Great food! Really the best in town. If you’d like a quiet restaurant experience don’t go on a weekend night. Packed and the tables are so close together. I could Hardly hear my date because of the noise. The service is awesome though and the food is amazing.
I love Cafe Soriah for dinner: The lamb dishes are the best I've ever eaten, especially the Lamb Mediterranean. All of the other dishes are excellent, too. The desserts are the best in town.
We always have the Calamari to start & save 1/2 of our entrees so we can have dessert. It's a fun, relaxing place to catch up with friends & family.
Yes yes yes!! Finally after decades of living in Eugene we went to a small friends dinner here. The food and the service were amazing. Best steak Diane I’ve ever had, and the prawns were also amazing. Small, cozy and romantic, but more tables than you expect. Definitely go!
Loved their Mediterranean food. Nice ambience. Great wine selection. Service people very friendly and helpful.
Been eating here for years. Great food, great ambiance. Just a gem of a restaurant.
We went here about a year ago and were underwhelmed. It has such a good local reputation that we gave it another chance and were delighted. Everything was wonderful. Only drawback is that it’s a little loud, but that didn’t detract from the food or the service. Will definitely be back!
My sister and brother-in-law were here visiting from out of town and we brought them to
the best dining establishment in Eugene. What a treat to be able to share with them an
absolutely perfect evening, superb food, stunning cocktails, excellent service, great
conversation and much laughter. Thank you
Big disappointment. Noise/music/loud other tables. Food was not as I remember it. Great "bar joint" but not for "special occasion" dinner . Seems menu was limited as well.
Awesome. Simply great food. Love the calamari, order it if it’s available.
All around great restaurant. Amazing food, impeccable service, and lovely ambiance.
