Great food, service and wine list! What more could we ask for?
Our waiter Marcus was awesome. Very friendly, attentive and helpful. So real instead of being arrogant or phony. The food was excellent and atmosphere was cozy.
Wonderful evening as usual. The Seabass was out of this world! Half price wine night is a plus.
I’ve been here several times now and each time the service and food has gone down hill a bit more. Taking a while to get menus, bread, etc. Bread served without butter or olive oil. Dry chicken. Really awful spinach salad - soggy and saggy leaves. Complete waste of a money. And even though it had to be obvious it was barely eaten, the waiter did not ask if we were dissatisfied with it. Small portions of fish/chicken (though large portion of pasta.)
The oddest thing was when our waiter finally came to our table for the first time and apologized for the wait, he then showed us the special appetizer of the evening as if he was going to give it to us as an apology for the wait but then he pulled it away as it was for another table. All 6 of us thought he was leaving it! It came off really strange.
We are so sorry to ready about this poor and unsatisfactory experience. We are addressing your concerns with the kitchen and your server.
Always a good meal
Sea bass piccata special was great
Tiramisu was lacking a little
Thank you Charlie. We'll give your feedback to the chef about the tiramisu.
I loved our dinner at Cafe Roma. Not only was the meal outstanding, the staff took a genuine interest in us and made us feel like regulars. I can’t wait to visit again, soon!
Lived most of my 76 years in this town, left for career reasons sixteen years ago, and every time I return I end up at Cafe Roma. Feels like home and, incredibly, this restaurant keeps improving. Friendly atmosphere and great food.
Il nostro cameriere era stupendo, gentile e capace...
Long time family restaurant that serves excellent Italian food at reasonable prices. The wine list is a good mix of local wines and Italian wines. Tuesday night wine by the bottle is 50% off - a great deal.
The food is always delicious. Makes me feel like I’m in Lty.
The staff was attentive, the food was well prepared, and the setting was very nice- I’d recommend it and would eat there again!
Seven of us dined here on Easter. Two of us had salmon and would order it again. Two of us had lasagna and would order it again. One person had lamb shanks and said they were excellent. Another person had the roasted vegetable raviolis and said they were good but not his favorite. The last person ordered one of the meat entrees and needed it cooked more. The waitress took care of that promptly and our friend said her meal was very good. We were pleased with the food, the service, and the ambiance. We very much appreciate coming here for fine dining on Easter! Compliments to the staff and the kitchen!
It was a really nice atmosphere. The waiters and waitresses were phenomenal. The food and drinks were really good as well. A nice quiet elegant dinner for adults. Would not recommend for kids under 12.
Cafe Roma never disappoints. Marco and his staff deliver an exceptional experience, from the ambiance to the service, and of course, the food and drink. Our table had the Gnocchi al Gorgonzola, two specials: the Cioppino with Linguini and Halibut Picatta, and a special request for Fettuccine Alfredo, despite it not being on the menu. We also had the Cappuccino Tartufo for dessert. Delizioso!
The crab cakes and Burrata appetizers were great. I loved that they offered garlicky sauteed greens w/green beans as a side dish, they were delicious and I topped my pizza with them! My husband loved the scampi dish, my daughter was happy with the cioppino, and the margherita pizza was nice with fresh mozzarella, even though the crust wasn’t quite as chewey as I’d prefer. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, and my family had a great meal together; we had a long liesurely dinner and never felt rushed, which is just the way I like it!
Arrived early and had a drink in the bar, our friends arrived and had been offered to have dinner in the bar, but \wanted to have dinner in the dining room. Had been seated promptly and service was good and our meals arrived as ordered and where delicious.
We had a most fabulous evening. We were celebrating our Anniversary and the employees made this evening one of the most memorable. Our dinner was out of the world. The seafood stack was one of the best meals I have ever had. I can’t say enough to tell you it was a great evening. The staff made it memorable and Daniel our waiter couldn’t do enough for us. Than k you Cafe Roma! I just wish you were a bit closer to our home in Corona. But it is our go to when we travel up the coast. Thank you so Rey much for a wonderful evening.
Great service. Disappointing pasta dishes. Had the Carbonara. Not enough flavor even with added Parmesan. Gnocchi was not light and airy, but the white sauce was good.
The dinners we had we outstanding, as always. I am only sorry I don't live there anymore or at least closer so I can enjoy regularly. One of is from SLO, one was from Logan, Utah and I now live in Fresno.
Never have been disappointed.
Our second time visiting and we had great experience both times. Our waiter (I believe Christopher was his name) Was very busy but had our food and appetizers to us quickly. Also, was able to recommend a great dessert that we loved. The jumbo prawn appetizer was great. One of us had a Salmon dish and the other a pasta. Both outstanding.
The waiter gave us little to no attention, but the food was quite nice. We almost had to walk out to get our bill presented!
Each member of our party of four ordered something different and each
found both their appetizers and main courses to be excellent. The wine
list was diverse and extensive with many excellent wines. Desert choices
were also excellent. Lastly the service was outstanding.
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our dinner. Good Prosecco, great food, and very goo service.
My wife and I moved to Downtown SLO about 8 months ago, and now regret waiting this long to try this gem of a restaurant located walking distance from our home! First of all, don't judge a book by it's cover; the inside of the restaurant is so much better looking than the outside structure. Second, the warm welcome we received was amazing, and it seemed like every other guest was hugging the owner and catching up on life. And the place was packed! People seemed so happy to be there, and once we received our food we realized why...molto delizioso!!! We tried the Bietole (yummy beets) salad, Salmon Piccata (perfectly prepared), and Tortelli di Zucca (squash filled ravioli that tasted almost like dessert)...and we are already figuring out the next time we can return and try a few more items. The service was fantastic despite how extremely busy the restaurant was, and we can't wait to go back!
The entrees were excellent. I had gnocchi with Gorgonzola cheese and my wife had linguine con vongole We split a delicious Cesar salad.
We each had a glass of wine .
Everything was perfect
One if the best restaurant in SLO. Excellent food and even better service. Highly recommend
While the food is always beautifully prepared and the staff is professional and attentive, they went way beyond the norm to accommodate our two small grandchildren. A great birthday celebration
Great food and very knowledgeable and professional waiter - Chris.
First time at Cafe Roma. Can't wait to go back. The food was really good and so was the service.
Fantastic. Top to bottom. Always. Would go again and again.
We went to Casa Roma for our anniversary. We started with splitting a spinach salad that was awesome. Then my husband ordered the fish special which looked wonderful-very nicely presented. He said it was outstanding and would order it again. I got the cannelloni which I found too rich for my tastes. I think others would like it okay. It was ground chicken with spinach and I didn't like the texture very much. I only ate half of it but my husband enjoyed it the next day. We ordered the lemon polenta cake for dessert and that was heavenly. Casa Roma is always perfect no matter when we have gone. We will be back!
Delicious crab cakes are new on the menu. Don’t miss them. Warm, wonderful atmosphere.
The people are quite nice, but the food was just average. Nothing special. I had pasta with cream sauce, speck and peas. The sauce was creamy but bland and peas tasted frozen and were mushy. Fresh peas would not have been mushy like this. My husband had broccoli and sausage pizza which was fine but not very interesting. The appetizer special with tomatoes and cheese was quite good.
Perfect place for a wonderful, romantic dinner! Service was outstanding and food was out of this world.
So any specials to choose from. Veal Parmigiana with fettuccine and vegetables was enough for two meals.
Salmon Piccata with saffron potatoes was delicious. Wines were outstanding.
Perfect in every respect!
Probably the most authentic Italian i’ve ever had in California. Our server wasnt the greatest, but the food was phenomenal. 10/10 would recommend
We've been here several times and I think this may Have been the worst experience so far. Let me state that it was still and overall experience but having previous amazing experiences and food, this one just lacked a little.
Service-Our waiter was pretty quiet. He was knowledgeable of the menu which was great but it was a little hard to understand. Coming back to take our order was a bit slow but overall not bad. We received our appetizers at a good time except one of them. We actually had to flag him down to see where our shrimp appetizer was since two of us had finished our apps before the third even came out. This was the low point of the night. I believe he forgot to put the order in and rushed it out after he saw that we had finished the others. Not a big deal but made for a little awkward situation of people watching others eat and then vice versa. Other than that, our entrees came out in a timely manner. Drinks, we had to ask for more water but it came out quickly, we were checked up on once during the whole night though and never offered drinks again or additional drinks. Again, not a huge deal but compared to the attentiveness we usually receive, at this restaurant, the difference was noticeable.
Food-I had the Escargot to begin and it was delicious. I had never tried escargot but I must say I am a fan. Great flavor and cook, at least I believe it was? Snails were tender, not chewy and the temperature was not scolding hot. My entree was the Lamb chop special. The polenta was delicious as were the potatoes. The lamb was interesting in that it was cooked great but it seemed to have a really hard sear on the surface which made the meat chew a little tough. Overall it was nothing special and ate ok for me. I'm a big lamb eater and have had several great lamb dishes at cafe roma, this one just wasn't up to par. I'm not sure what it was about the sauce as well but it left an interesting taste in my mouth. Margarita was delicious. Ran out of characters for review
We are sorry to learn about your less than satisfactory experience at Cafe Roma. We want to let you know that we are following up with your server and the kitchen regarding the inattentiveness and feedback on the food, particularly the lamb (this was a new cut of meat we were trying). Thank you for dining at Cafe Roma.
Consistently good traditional Italian food with timely and friendly service.
Loved this restaurant! Food was delicious, the waiter (Marcus) was very attentive and Hakeem sang a beautiful birthday song to my friend. A very enjoyable evening!
Great place to go with friends. Always have great time!
We hadn't been here in a long time so I was really hoping to have a great experience but sadly, did not. I ordered lamb chops...one of the specials of the evening. They were blood rare, and the sides...the whipped potatoes and asparagus were not hot. The waiter, who was very nice, immediately saw that the lamb was not cooked and took the plate back. After a reasonable wait, he brought it back. The lamb was slightly better but now the sides were not only not hot, but very cold. The waiter was so apologetic, but I told him I was over it and did not want it. He later came back and said they figured out that the heat under the sides was not working. What??? So why weren't they checked for temperature before they sent them out and why weren't they heated properly?? After I originally said part of the problem was the cold potatoes? Also, the waiter said the owner was in the kitchen discussing this all with the chef. At no time did the owner come over to the table....all we were offered was the fact they took off the lamb from our bill. They didn't comp anything else....and when we left the owner saw us approaching and made sure he walked the other way to avoid speaking with us. So unprofessional. Very sad as we have liked this restaurant in the past although we have had other issues which is why we hadn't been back for awhile.
