The food was bland, overpriced and the service was terrible. We ate there 4 times. Each time the waitress would go around to get each tables orders and put them all in at once. We had numerous people late for our conference in the hotel because of the hour and a half wait time to get food. It was not very busy, just poorly managed. It's worth going out to get better food and better service.

We spent 5 days in NOLA. This was in our top 3 of restaurants. The food was great. Probably the best grits I have had. The stuffed tomato was perfect. Service was impeccable. I am blanking out but I think our waitress was Anna. She went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. I was surproses it was basically slow on a Sunday morning.

Great experience! We attended the culinary and quite the bang for the buck. The ambience is fantastic, service exceptional. Management needs to make sure there is enough staff at the start of the lunch, as I believe there was staffing issues. Our server was fantastic and exceptional! The cuisine was delicious!

My wife and I live in New Orleans and we had lunch at Cafe Normandie with another couple. We were all taking a badly needed break from viewing exhibits of man's inhumanity at the World War II Museum. (The museum is terrific and easily merits 5 stars!) Prices were a bit too high but I suppose that's to be expected at a hotel restaurant associated with a museum. At least the restaurant is very conveniently located less than a 5 minute walk from the exhibits. My wife ordered a starter of onion soup and it was delicious. I ordered a hamburger medium and it came well done but the fries were crispy, as I prefer. Service was mediocre to poor. My salad had the wrong dressing, food was delivered to the wrong people at our table, and we had to ask for refills on our water. All in all, I'd say 3 stars is a reasonable rating (2 1/2 would be more accurate but not an option) given that this is New Orleans, a town famous for very good to outstanding restaurants.

Service and courtesy was excellent. Cuisine had some high points like the crab beignets, but on the whole I had difficulty finding a simple soup or pasta dish. Perhaps some modest size sandwiches and a soup would have been what would have appealed to me.

The staff was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. The physical ambiance and decor are very attractive and fitting for an hotel adjacent to this museum. While the cuisine offerings were described in a compelling manner, the food itself was not as tasty or lush. The onion soup was too sweet without much depth or concentration of beefy flavor. The bread was not twisted sufficiently to not turn soggy immediately and there was little gruyère cheese to make it crisp and chewy. The salads were beautifully made with a variety of nice fresh vegetables and tasty dressings. There were plenty added proteins.(chucken or shrimp). The brownie was very attractive but had a strong almost grainy chocolate flavor that was not sweet. The coffee was excellent, dark and hot and full of flavor.

After waiting for this place to open, I was massively disappointed. The hotel is beautiful but the service everywhere is lacking. The front desk crew was talking and never looked up to see guests entering the hotel. The restaurant host was pleasant and attentive but the wait staff were completely inept. It's as if they had zero training in hospitality and it was their first day. Crazy slow service. The food was lukewarm and very small portions. My duck was overcooked with 3 fingerling potatoes, nothing else. My husbands dish had 1 scallop, 1 shrimp, a 2oz piece of fish....for $33. No bread or side. All the cocktails were $14 and up. This was the saddest meal I've had in a decade. I cook for a living and always accentuate the positive....it was hard to find much nice to say here. Rosie's the rooftop bar had 4 bartenders but no cocktail servers. It wasnt busy yet they were involved in side work and never made eye contact. Frustrated, we left. This place could be a goldmine if they had good service. The ambiance is amazing, no expense spared. I fear that this will become another generic tourist hotel restaurant.

I was expecting better. It took a long time -about 30 minutes - before appetizers were being served. Main dishes were not brought to the table at the same time and there was a misunderstanding about one of them. This being said, the room and the decor are very nice.

Birthday dinner. Outstanding experience, ambiance, decor and physical aspects were in line with the WWII museum. The drinks were very pleasing to drink, once again keeping with the restaurants thyme. Service was very good, attentive, everything one would hope for while dining in this environment. We ordered the local baked fish for two. It was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. My only comment would be to serve this dish table side, filet the fish and plate it rather than leaving it to the patron. I would think it would enhance the overall experience. This being a relatively new establishment I understand the growing pains, training on table side service would allow additional choices to the menu. We were not able to enjoy the after dinner treats as we had another appointment, perhaps next time. Looking forward to our next visit.

I was extremely impressed with every aspect of the newly-opened Higgins Hotel, including the restaurant and bar. Staff is top notch. The menu is creative and robust, with unexpected pairings to delight the foodies, as well as traditional favorites for those who aren't so adventurous. The wine list is equally diverse, as are the cocktails. Again, for a brand new hotel, the staff impressed me the most - everyone clearly loves what they do and is very good at it. While enjoying Cafe Normandie, be sure to visit the rooftop bar with a Rosie the Riveter theme. Great views and creative cocktails, along with the normal fare. And visit the WWII Museum if at all possible - it's right next door!

While the menu online offered a lot of French dishes, the actual menu had modest, standard offerings. The one dish on the menu that we wanted, sea bass almandine, was not available. We opted for so-so flatbread pizzas. Nothing inspired about the pizza. The food took close to an hour. While the restaurant was not busy, our server was flummoxed though trying. She spent a lot of time getting help with the computer. Very underwhelming experience. The Art Deco decor is beautiful and the dining room spacious.

Hopefully it is new opening problems. Limited menu and waiter came back (after we had ordered) to tell us they were out of those selections. My stuffed portebello entree was burned. Looked like they tried to hide it with greens on top, instead of under it. Asked for some bread and got dry white sliced toast -no butter provided.

I treated my parents to a dinner at Cafe Normandie a week or two after it opened. Food service was a bit slow, but the dishes were amazingly executed and worth the wait. I highly recommend the stuffed portobello mushroom and NY Strip. I think that the speed of food service probably improved in coming weeks as the new restaurant worked out its kinks. That said, the wait staff was very attentive, accommodating, and professional. We were very pleased by their service. Finally, the restaurant (and hotel) are very classy. I loved the art deco decor, innovative use of WWII posters and artifacts for decoration and furnishings. Can't wait to have another meal at Cafe Normandie in the future.

Hotel decor is spectacular! The Rosie the Riveter bar outside has great view and is comfortable. Unfortunately the interior is not comfortable. The music at the bar was raucous and too loud. We left because it started raining. The restaurant is very nice and the wait staff excellent. Food was tasty especially the snapper almandine. Also liked very much the crispy Brussels sprouts... Happy to have this beautiful Art Deco hotel. It is a must-see.

The staff were very nice, but we never received our food over an hour after ordering it. We were shown to a different dining area with a small hot buffet and offered the buffet free. The food was good but we would have preferred our original order.
