Café Monarch Ratings and Reviews
Everything was terrific! Our waiter John was great at explaining the cuisine and answered all our questions. The food was exceptional! The four course menu was well thought out and offered very good choices. The Sea Bass and Duck were really flavorful and well prepared.
Looking forward to the opening of their new place across the street.
This place is ridiculous. Everyone should eat here at least once. Incredible service, interesting and creative menus, wonderful cocktails and really the most delightful ambience. Chris was our server and took such good care of us, but everyone we encountered was just as pleasant and professional as Chris. We can’t wait to return on our next trip to Phoenix.
Attentive valet service,
Pleasant greeting at reception,
Beautiful outdoor table for two,
Attentive well dressed black& white attire
helpful service by all.
Food price fix: 4 course each flavorful, perfect amount,
Perfect espresso machiato,
Atmosphere dim lights and lots of candles
Palm trees, vines
Sommelier : Sam, Pinot noir recommendation and service great!
Came to Phoenix by way of Las Vegas after experiencing some great restaurants. Café Monarch rivals them!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Cafe Monarch the other night. I can't say enough good things! Our waiter Chris was very personable as well as knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. The menu offered a good variety of locally sourced ingredients, and each course was delicious. We loved the cozy, romantic ambiance on the patio, as well. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
The dinner was amazing - atmosphere, service and ending with the food.
EVERYTHING that our group ordered was fantastic- soups, salad and entrée (pork chop, Bolognese, sea bass) Desert was also wonderful.
The place is unique- music right volume. See website for pics.
I eat out several times a week and I have never had a better experience.
I usually get to Cafe Monarch once a year, and it is something I very much look forward to. the ambience, the food and the service are second to none. I am astounded by the wait staffs knowledge of wine and food and pairings of the two. It truly is an amazing experience.
We had such a wonderful meal. Brought out of town guests and they were very impressed with the ambiance and the food. My husband couldn't decide between two entrees and the waiter was so awesome that he brought us one to share at the table on the house. It was excellent!!
We truly enjoyed everything about our visit to Monarch cafe. The food was incredible. Each dish was better than the lasr. Service was impeccable - Chris and his coworkers paid attention to every detail. And the atmosphere is second to none. A truly excellent restaurant.
This restaurant completely lived up to its claim as one of the most romantic restaurant atmospheres I've ever been to.
We had a great table tucked away in the corner. Very, very quiet. Unfortunately just in the window next to us was the Waiters' station. They spent a lot of time talking to each other, telling jokes and laughing. All the while, our cocktails went empty, or even unordered and the food was slow. My date commented on the food being cold. Cauliflower soup was awesome.
We were there for about 15 minutes before we saw a server. I started to get impatient (and thirsty) and, just as I was about to get up, our server showed up. The drinks took another 10 minutes to arrive. Mine went empty twice until I asked for another.
My date asked for her favorite wine, which they only had by the bottle. I said that was fine, but he decided to talk her into a wine by the glass. She did not like it, so I told him to bring the bottle and sent the glass back with my thanks. Yet he actually put that glass on the bill! Just tacky.
Our salads came out so drenched in dressing that they were inedible. I sent them back. When they were replaced, I was still unable to eat mine because it was still drenched. I took two bites and set it aside. The small piece of sausage that came with the salad was awesome.
No one asked why I didn't eat it, just cleared the plate, as the other course was coming out. There was zero interest in ensuring my satisfaction or asking if there was a problem.
As we ordered, the server and I discussed the Sea Bass. When he mentioned the duck, I jumped on it and he said that was his favorite yada yada...
What came out? Sea Bass. I had to force the server take my date's meal back to keep it warm while we awaited mine.
Some of the food was great, especially the lamb lollipop.
$430 for two inc tip. Very poor attention to detail. Go to the bar for the ambience. Go somewhere else for food and service.
We had an wonderful dinner last night. The lobster ravioli was amazing as was the sea bass. I do not normally order sirloin tips, but Richard recommended them and they blew me away. Delicious! The staff was very attentive and well informed. The service was outstanding.
Our meal at least ties for the best we’ve ever had. The ambience is excellent. The service is spectacular. The cocktails are creative and superbly crafted. The food was marvelously prepared. Did I say it’s at least tied for the best meal we’ve ever eaten? Yes, I did - because it was.
We are new to the area and have been trying out new restaurants weekly. We were extremely pleased with our experience at Cafe Monarch. The atmosphere is incredibly charming, service is exceptional (highly professional waitstaff), and impressively handcrafted menu items. We will certainly be return customers. In fact, we’ll be booking Cafe Monarch for my husband’s office Christmas dinner.
My first visit a year ago, I was so seduced by the ambience, food, impeccable service, etc that I was looking so forward to this meal.
Although the ambience and service was true to memory, the maple duck I ordered was tough as in seemingly not cooked long enough. I would never order that again. Last year’s filet mignonette was divine and very superior to the duck experience.
