I came here on my birthday. Of course I had very high expectations for this place. The food was amazing. The first course, which was cauliflower soup and clam chowder were amazing. The second course, salad and steak tartare, were spectacular. I’ve had other steak tartare that I did not like; however this was probably my favorite course. We both ordered the surf and turf. The steak and scallops were amazing, but I was not that impressed by the seafood risotto.
The review however is not about the food. There were a few things that’s I was not pleased with. The first was like we had to wait 30 minutes over our reservation time, which for a number one rated restaurant, I think that is unacceptable. The other thing is that I indicated it was my birthday on the reservation. If the waiter did know about it, he did not mention it, which I find kind of ridiculous because every person in that place is celebrating a special occasion. Also I ordered a dessert, which I expected something special for my birthday. Nope, nothing. Yet I looked around and every single table around me had a dessert with a sparkler. Again, they even ask you at places like Cheesecake Factory so maybe I should just go there next year and save the money. They didn’t make me feel special on my birthday, because they didn’t even care to ask or acknowledge it. Sigh.
Best dining experience I've ever had.
The most beautiful restaurant in Arizona. It is a gem.
This was our first visit to Cafe Monarch and sadly I have to say we were disappointed. All the reviews were spectacular so perhaps we expected too much but our experience fell way short on every level. The new location is beautiful but very loud. It was hard to hear each other in the cavernous room where we were seated. Our server seemed hurried and did not spend a lot of time explaining the menu and once ordered the four course meal was complete in a mere 75 minutes. We had clam chowder, winter salad, duck breast, and sea bass (can’t remember what my husband’s entree was) and we both agreed that the best thing we ate was the clam chowder which was really unique and very delicious. Every other course was underwhelming but I did enjoy the wine pairings that were chosen to accompany each course. Will not go back. Much prefer Elements for a date night with my husband.
First night in Scottsdale and wanted a great dinner experience. Cafe Monarch didn’t disappoint. Wait staff very attentive. Food was phenomenal. We added a course (Waygu sirloin) along with dessert to our 4 courses. Were there for 2 1/2 hours. Can’t wait to return.
Lovely. It was out 20th anniversary. We were pampered from the moment we arrived. Everything was perfect. If you are looking for a special experience, I highly recommend cafe monarch.
Ambiance was fabulous. Dinner was outstanding. And service was refreshingly perfect. I don't write reviews but Cafe Monarch lived up to it's billing. Perfect Anniversary Evening!
Brought my husband and friends to Cafe Monarch for his birthday dinner. We have dined in past at the older Cafe. We had the best dinner ever at the new Cafe. The atmosphere was elegant, the service by Sam was top notch and the food incredible. We dine in Paris once a year and our dinner was better at Cafe monarch than any of the French restaurants! We will be back again soon and recommend to all our friends. Our guests said that the name of Cafe makes you think of a diminutive small dining facility. You should rename your restaurant The Monarch since you are the king of all fine dining!
Awesome food, romantic experience. We went for a special date night. We are going back for our anniversary! It is expensive but worth it. We made a memory.
Cafe Monarch is a beautiful restaurant with very good food and exquisite service. While the dining experience was excellent, the value (e.g. $140 for a ribeye dinner) isn’t really 5 stars.
What a special treat to celebrate our birthdays at Cafe Monarch. The ambiance was romantic and the service was excellent.
The four course pre fixed meal started with cauliflower and clam chowder for each of us. Second course we both picked beef tartare. For the third course I had the duck and my husband had the Lamb Kreatopia. Both were so delicious. I had the seafood risotto for my main course and he had the Chilean Sea-bass. The main courses were so well seasoned. To top of it off they brought us each yummy desserts, banana fosters beignets and rum cake!!
Richard and the team were so friendly and attentive. He selected the perfect wine pairing with each course. They made the evening so enjoyable. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.
The food was amazing. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a few years now and it was totally worth the wait and the tab. The atmosphere was gorgeous and perfect for a romantic upscale date night. I don’t have a single complaint - service was also excellent. If I had to change one thing, it would be for them to talk less about the menu...they give a thorough verbal description in the beginning and then again as each plate comes out. It just made me feel awkward because I was ready to eat and didn’t really feel like listening for a second time.
This is an excellent choice for a special occasion. It is pricey, but the food, service, and ambiance are exceptional.
Great experience from the warm welcome at the beginning to the flaming sparkler on the complementary dessert at the end to celebrate our anniversary.
This was our first visit to Cafe Monarch and everything was exceptional from the moment we walked in until our last bite of desert! Nothing on the menu is anything less than incredible and was topped with impeccable service! Thank you for a fantastic last night in AZ!
