Another outstanding experience at Cafe Monarch. I had the scallops and the wife had the surf n turf trio; everything, including the hospitality, was out of this world.
The most beautiful restaurant in Scottsdale. Great food wonderful people
Cocktails and food exceptional. Wasam, our waiter was just what we anticipated at this high quality restaurant. Knowledgeable of food and wines. I did wine pairings with my meal and each did bring out flavors of courses. My only disappointment was when my entree arrived it was not what I ordered. Seems there was a miscommunication and the red snapper turned into salmon. Probably delicious but at that point I wasn’t hungry enough to even contemplate a replacement. Wasam comped our wine which was an extremely generous.
Everything was amazing. I was telling my friend about a cauliflower soup I had there once and they keep it on hand because people ask for it often enough. If there is a course where you are undecided, ask for the soup. It is amazing.
The ambiance and service at Cafe Monarch were fabulous. The cocktails and wine list also terrific and the food was outstanding. We were hesitant to commit to a four course meal as we are light eaters but the portions are very reasonable focusing on the quality and taste rather than quantity. I would definitely visit again next time I am in Phoenix. An overall lovely evening and experience.
We have been at Cafe Monarch once before and we liked the food - so we came back.
We had the 4-course meal. However, this time the food was disappointing and just ok up to the entree, certainly nothing special compared to some of the other valley restaurants.
We had lamb and ribeye. To our surprise both meats were bland without the expected and widely anticipated taste of lamb and beef. If we had been blind-folded we would not have been able to say what we were eating. To top it of both dishes were served with the same brown sauce apparently from a Campbell's sauce-in-a-bag.
Favorite restaurant- never disappoints!
Beautiful evening ! Fireplace outside was perfect on a cooler Scottsdale evening with candles lit to create romantic setting . The waiter was attention but not rushing us & we enjoyed a relaxing & “out of the box” food experience.
We have enjoyed our first visit to this very romantic restaurant. We are definitely return.
As always everything was spectacular!
Fantastic experience and meal. Loved everything about it
We went for my husband’s 40th birthday because this is his absolute favorite restaurant. Unfortunately they had changed the menu that very day to a fruit-oriented menu (watermelon, orange, pineapple, etc.) I hate fruit in my food so that was the first disappointment. Because of this, I decided to play it safe and order the filet-medium rare. My steak came out well done. I couldn’t believe it. We had to send it back and by the time it arrived, my husband was done eating. The waiter offered to take half off my meal, and offered a free dessert but then never came back to take the order so it was pretty disappointing overall.
Splendid! Gorgeous environment, wonderful food, beautiful presentation, excellent service. A special experience!!
A great place for a special meal. Quiet enough so you can actually have a conversation with your friends. Food was excellent - one of those places where you think you will be hungry after the first two courses and you are full when you leave. It is a little dark, so reading the menu was a struggle of elderly person, but staff has lights to help.
Cafe Monarch is exactly the right venue for a special occasion. You can always expect great food and outstanding service.
This was my first visit to Cafe Monarch and I must say, probably my last. It is quite pretentious in a grating way with service that is over-solicitous. I don't think we saw the same server twice, I was never quite sure who each new person was or what they were doing. Although the food is very good, well prepared and presented, I took great exception to a cold course (shrimp ceviche) that arrived on a hot plate.
7 of eight dishes were very good. The sesame crusted tuna needs work. It was bland. The other 7 dishes were as good as it gets.
Amazing... start to finish.
Very nice terrace, amazing service and excellent food!
The food was superb, as always. The service is wonderful. And the location is quite beautiful.
The food and service were outstanding. We did, however, make the mistake of ordering the grand cru wine pairing with each course. I do not recall seeing a price for it on the menu they gave us, and thought it would be enjoyable. It turned out it was $225 per person, so we were shocked when we received the bill. Would not do that again. It turned out to be an $800 meal. I'd go there again for the food, ambiance and service, but would never again order that wine pairing.
Ambiance was good. Definitely a special occasion restaurant. Prices were ok. Food choices were ok. Wish they’d serve US lamb not Australian/New Zealand lamb. Wine list extensive. Service was slow but server was good. They might however ruined buy a large party with a VERY loud lady who may have had too much to drink. All the tables around them and ours did not appreciate they “Enthusiastic” conversation. For a restaurant that espouses to be a “romantic” spot it’s surprising they let the “sports arena” atmosphere carry on. Disappointed.

Outstanding in every way. A real wonderful experience.
Great experience. Food was delicious. Impeccable service. Ambiance could not be beat.
Excellent food and service but you pay a top premium for it.
Truly one of the best dining experiences of our well-traveled, cuisine sophisticated lives. No hyperbole to say every bite was a delight and every sip memorable. Though some may balk at the expense, every bite was worth every cent....
We have dined at Cafe Monarch multiple times - every time, the food is absolutely marvellous. Our waiter, Noah, managed to made our perfect evening even better - thank you!
Our 14 th year anniversary it was lovely very romantic and the food delicious
Everything was great the service very good
Cafe Monarch is the perfect restaurant for a special occasion or an extraordinary date night. The food is out of this world!
Amazing. Richard (server) is the benchmark for great service.
Outstanding food, service and the atmosphere is terrific. Would recommend to anyone looking for a excellent dinner!
The best vegan menu (multiple choices) and best vegan meal we have ever experienced. The traditional menu and food were excellent, too. Every bite was delicious. Service was world class.
An amazing experience. You don’t eat at Monarch for a run-of-mill relatively common, inexpensive experience. But if you’re able, you should do this. Eat on the patio, be attentive to the presentation, savor the flavors, and don’t rush. It will become an experience you’ll look forward to discussing for a long time. For us, and having been to fine restaurants throughout the Country, we’ve never enjoyed a finer eating g experience.
Great service and great food in a super cool patio setting!
What a wonderful dining experience! So impressive! Expensive, but honestly worth every penny
We love dining here! The Sommelier, Sam, is our favorite! Wonderful meal, every time.
Kyle, our server, was great. Explanation and knowledge of menu likewise
Always special at Cafe Monarch
17 year anniversary and the celebration did not disappoint!! Delicious, fun and romantic.
