Café Monarch Ratings and Reviews
I'm a foodie and love checking out great restaurants when I get out of the small town I live in. My boyfriend found The Monarch and the yelp reviews looked great! The building and the ambiance is stellar and the food started out stellar as well! Service was decent but probably a little to much info/talk from the servor. We then ended up waiting a VERY long time to receive our main course and I had lost interest at that point. We ended up spending 2.5 hours and around $500.00 which is the most I've ever spent for two of us and at that price, I expect perfection which is not what we got. The cocktails are really good but the price is insane for the amount you get. I would maybe come back but would not order a cocktail and would not do any ad-ons. I'm really torn because it started out dreamy and ended not so great....
Every moment of dining at Cafe Monarch was exceptional. The ambiance was perfect including appropriate music, lighting, stemware, plates and especially professional waitstaff. Each course was prepared and presented with outstanding detail and delicious flavors. A beautiful restaurant both inside and outside on the patio. I am looking forward to a return visit!
We had the most amazing meal at Cafe Monarch! We were treated royally by all and our waiter Chris was very knowledgeable about the wines we were choosing from. He was also a very interesting , engaging conversationalist :). Each course was delicious and impressive. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and would recommend it to all who are looking for a wonderful way to celebrate any special event ❤️
We have always enjoyed Monarch and were pleasantly surprised when they directed us across the street as they had moved 4 days earlier. At first we were concerned that the ambience would change, but it did not. The outdoor seating was just as enchanting, if not more so. The service was spot and very attentive, as usual, and the food was very tasty. We noted as we left that while the food was very good, it lost something from the last time we were there. Seems the extra touches such as special engredients were not there. Perhaps it was because they moved and were focused on that? Not sure I would have spent $90.00 for the meal we were served if I had known. It was still a lovely evening, just not special like before. I feel I could have had this same meal at another good restaurant. I want something unique and something I can only find at the Monarch, like before.
Was looking forward to the warm old town scottsdale ambience of the original location with an intimate setting that we heard so much about. But missed that location by 5 days. Was originally seated in the beautiful interior of the restaurant which was remarkable loud with very very poor acoustics and then was advised we could have waited for a patio seat which we requested online which we then did in the bar with a complementary appetizer which was terrific. The overall food experience was very good except for the tomahawk pork being slightly overdone and slightly dry. Very good restaurant for special occasions but has a formal and elegant stuffy vibe that attracts that kind of crowd .
Had our wedding anniversary dinner here and the food and service were outstanding. We really enjoyed the new venue and the new courtyard area.
Only suggestion is softer/ quieter would be much more romantic. My wife and I had to move to a table farther from the speakers to enjoy our evening. Not a bar- but, a romantic, sophisticated dining experience
The new location is jaw-dropping beautiful (as was the original but they have truly raised the bar). Amazing dinning experience from the moment your walk in the door till the moment you leave. Friendly, attentive staff...truly welcoming you. The Roasted Cauliflower Soup was divine. Some of the subsequent Courses (Fall Salad and "Jumbo" Lump Crab Cake (barely the size of a quarter) could stand a bit more food on the plate. Chilean Sea Bass was cooked to perfection, Seafood Risotto was equally delicious and beautifully prepared; truly memorable. The Bolognese should be removed from the menu; nothing special about it and not something worth spending $$$$$ on, just doesn't measure up to the other amazing options. This is a special occasion place. Truly one of the most beautiful dinning experiences in AZ.
From the food servers, sommelier, hostesses, and bartender all were knowledgeable in their selected areas of expertise. The food was perfectly timed, exacting temperatures, and scrumptious. The new location is artistic, impeccably decorated, and sense soothing. It was one of our best experiences and made for a most memorable 54th Wedding Anniversary. We will remember our evening together for as long as we can remember.
This could be the very best restaurant in the greater AZ area. This night was a business dinner and only my second visit but I will go anytime I am in the Phoenix area. The staff was amazingly knowledgeable and very accommodating.
The person next to me at dinner travels the world for business and commented: "this could be the best overall meal and service I have ever had".
If you are a wine lover the wine pairing is not inexpensive but well worth it.
Fabulous experience, beginning to end. I was struck by not only the excellent courses, but particularly how enthusiastic and knowledgeable the staff are to be there. I felt personally welcomed and pampered through the night. My boyfriend and I were extremely impressed, would love to return.
Top three lifetime dining experiences. Only say top three because I couldn’t choose between them. First two courses are set by the chef with two options for the third and five options for the fourth. Wait staff is perfect. Not bland or robotic but very enthusiastic, each one a sommelier and they know their stuff. Do yourself a favor and get the wine pairings. They pour healthy too so probably get an uber. Absolutely nailed the flavor profiles and the wines were all out of this world. Each dish and glass was explained in detail. A lot of places make great food. It takes a truly special staff to make it an all around great experience and theirs is top notch. Family owned and operated. Every staff member we had contact with wished my wife a happy birthday. We left making plans for the next several times we could come back.
We chose Cafe Monarch based on reviews placing Cafe Monarch as best fine dining restaurant in Scottsdale. It was our anniversary celebration and we wanted to have a special date night. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. With each course, the server gave a description of the item and asked if we had questions. In fact, the service was probably the best we have ever experienced. The staff are very well trained, polished and professional. We had a pleasant surprise when presented with a complementary dessert, Rum Cake with ice Cream and coffee as a treat for our anniversary. It was the last night of Cafe Monarch in this location. We cannot wait to come back next year for anniversary and experience the new, more elegant facilities.
What an amazing experience! My wife and I enjoyed a great five course meal with perfectly prepared food. Chris, our server, did a great job explaining our dining options and making the evening even more enjoyable with just the right balance of attentiveness and giving us our time. The historic restaurant is a great part of the experience providing a fun, romantic atmosphere.
Amazing, amazing food! The husband and I are a hard crowd to please, too. We haven't had a meal this good in years! Very well seasoned, vibrant flavors, each course was very well composed. The service was just as impressive! Friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely be back!
I had read several reviews about this restaurant and we finally decided to go to dinner at Cafe Monarch to celebrate my birthday. It exceeded our expectation, we thought that the food would be good but it was more than good, it was excellent. The staff is very courteous ,respectful and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. We were greeted not with "You Guys" which many of us older generation find that very "Rude" but with Madame or Mr. & Mrs...
The service was excellent, water glasses were always filled, food was brought out at correct temperature and we had clean forks and knives as you would expect. Restaurant had candles everywhere and nice music which made it very romantic and relaxing. We were able to talk to each other without having to yell. It is definitely one of the best restaurants in the area and I know we have lots of good ones in Scottsdale/Phoenix area.
We were lucky that the weather was nice and as requested, we sat in the patio which is very nicely done. Forgot to mention that they do have complimentary parking. This is a restaurant that is really worth going to for dinner.
Stunning restaurant. The outdoor space is beautiful. The staff was wonderful. Every coarse of the meal was amazing. Except for my husbands pork chop. It was so salty and dry that he couldn't eat it. I was kind of hoping that the waiter would notice and offer a solution, but he just commented on the portion size being too large. But, overall it was an excellent dinner. We will go back.
Perfect date spot, romantic courtyard setting, wonderful food. Portions are enormous! Will absolutely be back when we are in the area. The one minor irritation: the staff repeated every ingredient of each dish both prior to ordering and when each was brought to the table. They were sweet, but it was a little over the top to hear it all twice...
