The menu is a reflection of both the French and Vietnamese palate, focused on fresh seafood like Speckled Trout with Lump Crabmeat, BBQ Local Catfish and Bouillabaisse with fresh shellfish and hunks of drum. Traditional Vietnamese dishes include Pho and Spring Rolls, alongside specialties such as Chef Minh’s Charcoal Pork Soup with egg noodles and bok choy.
Come experience Café Minh’s exceptional hospitality, nestled in a traditional mid-city home. Established in 2007 and followed by a loyal local clientele, Cafe Mihn is a refreshing get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
Zagat rated Cafe Minh a 5-star Top Rated Restaurant in New Orleans in 2016.
Stunning combination of Asian Fusion with Louisiana foods. Has been excellent for many years and continues its superb trend line. Great lunch spot.
Excellent meal, good service and overall a great dining experience. We highly recommend the food.
Great food. A little out of the way but never disappoints.
Cafe Minh has been simply outstanding in all aspects for many years.
A big favorite for us. A value leader. Of 10 or so visits, we've only experienced one that was below par. The menu is imaginative and unique. I had the drum filet that was delicious.
I’ve had good food here in the past but it isn’t consistently good. This time I ordered stir fry and it was way too salty. Couldn’t hardly eat it. My colleague ordered a chicken tempura sandwich and it had way too heavy of batter. The appetizer special was pretty good but the meals are overpriced and I won’t be returning.
Very nice decor and service. The waitress’s two suggestions were excellent: oysters Rockefeller and soft shell crab salad. Prior to dining, she also suggested the lychee coconut martini which was refreshing and slightly sweet. I would definitely return with confidence for another wonderful dining experience! Oh! And bottled wines were half price!
We had a party of 12 couples and had to separate our own checks at the end of the meal. Wouldn't reccomend for groups.
My husband and i decided to go back to celebrate our anniversary. We had gone several years ago and had a wonderful experience. While we still had a nice time out, it was not as enjoyable as our last visit. We were seated at a table that had a lot of activity around it (setting up of other tables for large party) and it was rather distracting. The waitstaff was also not as attentive as on our previous visit and everyone seemed very preoccupied and flustered. While the food was good, the overall experience just did not live up to our previous one. I would give the restaurant another try and hope they were just having an off night.
One of those little restaurants the tourists don't ever find. The food is so well prepared. Balance is everywhere with ingredients and presentation. One "Don't Miss" dish is the Nutty Crusted Louisiana Oysters. Very generous portion and they were large!
They have an extensive wine list. I’d be interested in other spirits being highlighted as they have a decent whisky list. I ordered an Old Fashioned cocktail. I’d prefer it in an Old Fashioned glass and without the cherry muddled. Dress up the cocktail as much as you do the food.
The Divers Scallops were amazing! It was the best appetizer beside Chargrilled Oysters we have had in NOLA.
We got the Minh Seafood Bouillabaisse and the Braised Short Rib. Both were absolutely amazing! We will return here many times!
Delicious food and wonderful wine that was half price
Wonderful experience good food and service.
The food was very fresh and excellently prepared. The night we went they had a crabmeat appetizer which they combined watermelon and crabmeat, it was very delicious.
Love eating at Cafe Minh! The food is always delicious and you can't beat 1/2 price bottles of wine on Tuesdays and Wednesdays!!!
A combination of Asian-fusion, plus great Louisiana seafood make for an unbeatable menu. The appetizers are plentiful and make for difficult choices. There are always off-menu specials as appetizers and entrees which is a testament to Chef Minh's daily creativity and range. This restaurant is a Mid-City Joy and has been since its earliest days as Lemon Grass.
Loved all of the flavors.
We had a wonderful evening and got many different meals. The drum fish in a light vegetable broth with fried oysters on top was excellent, the appetizer summer rolls were excellent as was the crabmeat avocado and tomato dish served in a martini glass. Service was a little slow at times but other than that very pleasant and positive
We have been going to Cafe Minh for at least 15 years and it has gotten progressively better. Quality of food has been outstanding. Initial food service was on table tops with paper place mats and now has very nice table cloths and napkins. Array of food on menu is remarkable and wine list is excellent! Quality is consistent. One of New Orleans' best!
The food was delicious! Every dish we tried was wonderful, we’ll be back soon!
Absolutely fabulous! Seafood spring roll appetizer was very good. We had the 2 evening specials for entrees, lobster tortellini and osso bucco. The lobster tortellini was delicious and the fried lobster tails were cooked to perfection. The osso bucco was tender and perfectly seasoned. The dessert was a bit of a miss, mango mousse cheesecake, as the mousse’s texture was a bit off. Will definitely add Cafe Minh to our list of favorites.
New Orleans is a fascinating blend of cultures from around the world, and Cafe Minh is a special gem, a Vietnamese restaurant with a French influence, turning a bowl of pho into a true delicacy. Experience their friend oyster appetizer and their glass noodles.
I recommend Café Minh for anyone who seeks creative, delicious cuisine and a very pleasant atmosphere conducive to good conversations.
Would have given it 5 stars but our initial server acted like she would rather be anywhere else. We didn’t see her again past her taking our orders, so maybe she wasn’t feeling well and left early ??
Great food. Big portions.
We were a party of 8 on a busy evening, and they accommodated well. Great suggestions, great food, and great service.
Cafe Minh is one of our favorite. Never disappoints. Great food, flavors, and always excellent service. We recommend this restaurant often.
We had a large party of 22 guests. The owner and staff were all very accommodating. The food was excellent, good portions, and everything came out hot despite our large party. I plan on returning!
Salmon salad is the best I’ve ever had. They make it perfectly. Spring rolls are delicious. Food is always outstanding.
Menu was varied and the selection covers all categories. Some of the serving sizes were large and could easily feed 2; makes it nice since you can try varied options. Service was fine and waitress was knowledgeable and personable.
Awesome food with amazing flavors.
Birthday dinner was fantastic
The food at Minh can be a bit exoctic but tastes great. I had lunch there yesterday with my wife and a friend. I had the special appetizer of the day-Octopus Ceviche. The octopus was parboiled for safety and so some of the slices were a little more mushy than I would have preferred. But overall it was quite good. For my main course I had a sliced garlic beef banh mi. Their take on a banh mi is a bit more New Orleans po-boy than most I have had. The sandwich had a ton of flavor. But it reminded me a of roast beef po-boy with all the garbage gravy you could fit between two sides of a sandwich and then some. This was NOT a pick-up- in-your-hands-and-eat-it type of banh mi. It was messy and super tasty. The waiter was great and the ambience a bit upscale for what I am used to for Vietnamese- but not so much as to be an issue . and would be fine for a dinner The one thing to prepare for is the cost. Three of us had one app, two, one had second app and I had the lunch also two had tea and one had water. The bill was about $120 before tip. Not outrageous but somewhat higher for lunch than other Vietnamese Restaurants with equally good food that I have be to in New Orleans. I think I'll save Cage Minh for date night.
The food is worth the price. Elegant dishes that are so beautiful and delicious.
Wonderful as usual
I was surprised how little trace of vietnam seemed to be in the fusion, tho it seemed like a wise choice given the clientele. my own meal, the drum w fried oysters on top and vegetables below, was outstanding! the crabtini too meaty for my taste, which made the flavors out of balance—for my palate. excellent wine choice rcommnded by chef.
I’d definitely go back. Another thing that was lovely was hat it was far far from th craziness or pretension that can attend downtown and “traditional” restaurants.
Always a great experience at Cafe Minh! The food is consistently outstanding.
I always enjoy this place. Good entrees, good appetizers and good wine
It is without a doubt very top of our list as a consist most enjoyable restaurant with delicious food and service. It is a restaurant we look forward to returning to over and over again over the years.
