Large groups welcome and perfect for private parties.
Loved this brunch. Beautiful restaurant
One hour in, they'd taken our drink order 5 times across 2 different people, and we still never got served, so we had to walk out. (They weren't even busy at all - and we were the second table to walk out.) Our waiter was aggressive, rude, and seemingly very intoxicated.
Food was very ordinary, chicken totally dry, salad ok but not special. Whole place felt flat.
Our dish came out and didn’t have any of the ingredients it said it did on the menu. They basically gave us brown rice with peas and corn, despite the fact that it was listen in the menu as having celery, radishes, beets, and some other things.
When we told the manager that it was as it was on the menu, he said they didn’t have the ingredients, and asked if we would like a round of drinks. When we said we don’t drink, he told us he would take it off of our bill and took the bowl off the table.
He did not ask if it was ok for him to take it or if we would like a replacement dish. We ended up sharing one plate of food between two people.
It was just a weird way for the manager to handle the situation.
a great, open space. Food is prepared and presented beautifully, and the menu will appeal to vegetarians and carnivores alike.
The service was horrible
Went for the first time with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday, everything was wonderful, we will definitely come back again to try other items on the menu!
Did a lot of research before choosing Cafe Medi for our Saturday night get together with friends. Was looking for great Mediterranean food, beautiful ambiance and most importantly a not too noisy restaurant. Found Cafe Medi in a Harper’s Bazaar online article about the best Mediterranean restaurants in NYC. It did not disappoint. The restaurant is as beautiful as it is depicted with gorgeous tile work and lighting. The menu is not extensive but everything we ordered was delicious. Appetizers included calamari, a lovely cauliflower dish and a platter with various items including hummus, olives, eggplant etc. For mains we ordered the roasted chicken and the Branzino fish. The portions were very generous. The chicken was tender and moist and the Branzino was cooked to perfection and served over a bed of roasted kale. The service was excellent. Our waitress was charming and very patient with us. Even the bartender came to our table to discuss the unusual drink our friend ordered. I rated noise level moderate because on a busier day, I would imagine the noise level would be much louder than the uniquely quiet evening we experienced. Despite it being a Saturday night, I think many people were out of town for August vacations. There were only a few other occupied tables that night which made it the perfect evening for us!
Went for breakfast on Sunday. Don’t bother. Go for brunch. Don’t know why they even serve breakfast since it felt we were a nuisance. the service was fair at best and the food was average at best. All the attention of the staff was directed at setting up for brunch. We were seated in a “Siberia” section. Entire experience was disappointing especially as I have been here before and really liked it.
Overall the experience was good. Food was okay, drinks were nice and strong.
We had a bridal shower at this location. Staff was very kind and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend here for hosting an event.
I would highly recommend everyone to go to Cafe Medi! The service was one of the best I have had in NYC for a very long time. I had originally made the reservation for 12 people and they happily accommodated for 25 . The service we each received from multiple people made for a joyful group dinner. Not only was the service GREAT! so was the food, we got a great pre-set menu with options for all foodies! THANK YOU Cafe Medi and your team for a very lovely dinner time!
Chic interiors. Good food. But service isn't great. They don't know how to pour water, which i think is the most important first impression point although overlooked most of the time. Then we find out that they don't do their dishes well as they gave us a fork with cheese or some leftover food stuck on it. They also don't understand english very well, which is a downside. Online it said they cater for vegetarians and vegans but i didn't see many vegetarian items besides salad. The full menu itself was pretty short. Food was good but probably wouldn't come back.
Came here for a friends birthday brunch and it was great! The ambiance was amazing as you can see from the pictures of the place but in person and when it’s sunny out, it’s goes to a different level :) The staff was nice but towards the end of our meal, we felt rushed out even though there were not many people there and lots of empty tables. We only stayed for an hour and 15 minutes tops so I’m not sure what that was about. Other than that we had a great time and the birthday loved it.
Delicious brunch! Hidden gem with a skylight in the back. Got the croque and it was out of this world! Will definitely go back. Very affordable!
Had a large party reservation and the restaurant seemed very understaffed for breakfast, so service was relatively slow even though only 15-20 people total were dining in entire restaurant. Half the table ordered eggs benedict and all eggs were over cooked (poached eggs are typically running and these were hard). Otherwise a good ambiance and people were nice.
The restaurant is very cute and the food was good at a good price.
My group of friends aren’t the easiest bunch but the server handled us with care and a lot of patience.
Very bad service and not worth to pay for it. You may try if u have too much money
Overall, experience was good. The food wasn't as good as I'd hoped but I think fairly priced. Cocktails were just okay, a bit pricey for the quality. However, restaurant is beautiful and service was good.
We had a delicious brunch at Cafe Medi. We had hoped to be sitting in the back room with the skylight/mural, but we were adjacent to it and that was still nice. The avocado toast was one of the tastiest I've had in NYC, and everyone on the table enjoyed their choice. Felt really nice and roomy, not too loud. Worth making the trip to the LES.
The place is so beautiful! A perfect place to catch up with the ladies for brunch and take photos - however if you’re looking for a place with actually delicious food for a good price, this isn’t the place. I came hungry and definitely still left hungry. The french toast was literally one slice. And they aren’t too big on the coffee either, I ordered a watered down iced coffee that was served in a water glass.
Cute for the instagram but not worth the price for the food.
Quick efficient service even for such a large party. Light bright space and very nice brunch menu.
Recommend the Sunday morning brunch. We went on a Sunday morning in April. Not too crowded. Very good food. Enjoyed the French toast, the Huevos Rancheros and the Greek Parfait. Very pleasant and leisurely...not so good if you are in a rush, which we were not. Service was solid but not exceptional.
Would go back under similar circumstances.
Horribly unprofessional waitstaff and hostess that made visible eye-rolls and sighing when we asked to have seats that accommodated our party of 6 (with 2 kids). They claimed they couldn't seat us in a table because it was reserved for the brunch crowd two hours later.
Love this restaurant! Food and service were great!
Loved the scallops and the hummus. The chicken under a brick was also excellent.
We will be back.
Very nice place in the east side of manhattan, furnitures are pretty nice, the very tall wall covered with ceramic tiles make the place unique and suggestive. I’m in love with the deco chandeliers, lovely place. Food is good and service is fine. Overall it was a nice experience, perfect for an informal date. :)
Food was incredible. Highly recommend the sweet pea risotto and the chicken under a brick
Such a great experience. The food was amazing (I highly suggest the huevos rancheros!!) such great natural light and cute aesthetic!
I would recommend for large group parties. It's a very open atmosphere but very noisy because everything echos. The bottomless option for brunch does NOT include bloody mary's which I thought was lame. The food was ok. I've had better though. The serving staff was a little below avg too. I wouldn't come back to be honest.
beautiful space, friendly service, very good food-acoustics were awful and large parties of bottomless brunches made it very hard to enjoy. Extremely disruptive noise.
Took nearly an hour for our food to come out. We finally had to ask and then suddenly everything (including our apps) came out all at once. Food was over salted and over cooked. Disappointing portions and quality given the prices. Everyone’s cocktails were gross and the wine was meh.
Check was even worse. There were only two tables and we had to wave at our server several times to get her attention (she was on her phone in the back corner of the restaurant).
Wouldn’t come back here. Disappointing because the decor is super cute, convenient location, and Mediterranean food usually is a safe bet for friends with food restrictions.
Good food, service could be better
Wonderful value of bottomless brunch, good proportion in the mimosas and bellinis, ease of being seated, flexibility in seating options on a Sunday afternoon, simple to understand, elevated menu options.
I’ve gone here twice and both times got sick from the food. It’s a beautiful place with amazing prices but maybe they should spike up the pricing and get better food.
The staff was very friendly walking in I was immediately greeted, great food great ambiance
Here for birthday dinner. Good food. Service was not the best.
No happy hour between 4 and 5?
HORRIBLE MEAL. Our server was shy (wtf?) and maybe checked on us once. Meatballs were WAY too salty and we ordered apps that came after our meal. White trash establishment.
Beautiful restaurant with good food. Only downside is that it took forever for us to be seated, even with a reservation!
