Cafe Longet offers both a beer and wine menu.
We love coming to dine and have a nice evening. We love the owners and the servers
I was there Saturday night with my 13 year old granddaughter. We both had great meals! We did the cheese plate as an appetizer and enjoyed every bite. The mixed berry jam served with it is yummy! We had the scallop and salmon entrees. Both are nice size portions and wonderful sides. I can only hope people continue to patronize during this stressful time because this place is truly a hidden gem in the town of Venice! Our favorite!
Six of us enjoyed a marvelous dinner in February before the theater. Everyone liked everything ordered. Although I am not typically a dessert eater, I tasted two of them, and they were outstanding.
A friend and I went there for lunch this week and had the same result. It made me sad that the restaurant was not packed as it should’ve been, for it is a lovely lunch dining experience. The crème brûlée with raspberry sorbet was quite delicious as was everything else we ate. Don’t pass the French fries as they are certainly not your typical American french fries. They came out piping hot, and we ate them while they were, or should I say we devoured them.

Excellent, quaint French restaurant. My teenage daughter and I dined there last Saturday evening. We both ordered the Black Grouper with scalloped potatoes and ratatouille. Very delicious. We loved the chocolate lava cake, as well. Very yummy dessert with I think a little dollop of mocha on top and homemade whipped cream on the side. Staff very friendly, warm, and welcoming. I can’t wait to come back and see what else to try!
Busy Saturday night. Food was delivered very fast and delicious! Great ambience!
We had a wonderful experience with excellent halibut and european sea base entrees..presentation was superb..Special desert a chocolate lava cake scrumptious. Definitely a fine dining experience and also have more moderate meals that look wonderful too.
Authentic French food. This was our third time dining here and every time has been delicious.
Excellent freshly prepared French food with an innovative twist. Great food, good wine, go there and enjoy!
Not an exhaustive menu but good choices and uniformly delicious. Large portions. Lovely ambiance - very “country French.” Service can slow and inattentive, perhaps “relaxed” is a better descriptor. Limited wine list. Unusual “naughty French Fries” with raclette fondue!
Food delicious. Service most friendly.
The wait was worth it.
Menu has multiple items that would appeal to most people
Live guitarist was technically proficient but played at a subtle decibel level which complimented the ambience
Wait staff efficient but not hovering
Our reservation was 715pm....,very busy....waited for entrees till 820pm or so....maybe kitchen needs more help, all in all. We will return as we enjoy French Cuisine....not too many in our area
We always enjoy everything at cafe Longet. The scallops and risotto were outstanding! So sweet and tender, can’t wait to go again!
Our favorite restaurant in the area. The chef really knows what he is doing.
Met a friend there for lunch. Ordered the quiche and salad combo. I have never see a smaller slice of quiche. Three small bites and it was gone. Salad wasn’t much better. A few pieces of lettuce and dressing. Would not return, as there are so many other nicer options in Venice for lunch.
The half duck was exceptional and the best I have had! Our server was friendly, attentive, and extremely competent. It was a perfect evening for 5 friends who are visiting other friends in Sarasota for 2 weeks.
My girlfriends took me here for my birthday. We All had a delicious lunch. The service was wonderful. They even brought me a special dessert. The menu favorites were the hamburger and the shrimp burger. And, of course, the French fries.
We had a great meal here. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
Amazing! Love music. J’adore Longet
Top notch service that aimed to please, with an outstanding cuisine! We will definitely be back!
Very nice ambiance. Server was a owner so service was very professional and efficient. Food was unremarkable. Presentation very good. Will try again.
Cute place, food was delicious. Servers very attentive.
Quietly decorated diningroom where we sit often and eat. I love the Salad de soleil ( the melon always perfectly ripe)and the Parmentier de beauf. (Whipped potatos cover the beef and all is topped with a sauce to die for)Husband favors the Salad de poulet and the Magret de canard (duck prepared to a T) Suffice to say, everything, from beginning to end of the menu, is prepared with love for food and served with a great smiles. Bonus point - it will not break the bank !
Everything about this restaurant is impeccable! The food is always delicious and the service and ambiance is very good. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to go back and try the scallops next time!
Great authentic French restaurant. I asked our server to have owner/chef Steven Longet "cook a French meal for us". He came out of the kitchen and talked to us for about 10 minutes and then proceeded to prepare an amazing meal with appetizers, cheeses, salads, wine, entrees and desserts. Will definitely be back.
Our favorite place in the area
Cafe Longet is our favorite restaurant in the Venice area. It is our go to restaurant for special occasions. The food and service is always great!
Mentioned allergy to sesame when reservation made, but entree had sesame when served (and sesame was not mentioned in menu description). When I brought this problem to server's attention, she immediately fixed it - and brought me new entree. I suspect my correct entree had been plated, but server first picked up the wrong plate. I will eat there again - food was delicious.
We were there for Valentine's dinner. Prix Fixed menu. Food was deliciuus. Server was attentive and friendly. We sat in the back room with only 3 other tables. Quiet conversation. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. But pricey. Including tip with 1 beer and 1 glass of wine $185.
Went to Cafe Longet for Valentines Day. We were seated in a back room away from music that was being played. Room was rather sparse—-no candle or flowers on the table there but looked as if there was in main dining room. Food was very good! Service was overall good until the end of our meal when we had to ask our server to bring our check after about 20-30 minutes of waiting.
Food was ok but very overpriced. Service was lovely.
Excellent French dishes made us feel we were back in France. My husband raved about the soup!
What a great find! And it was wonderful to have the tete de moines cheese board. Brought back memories of Switzerland. Food and wine were very good. We even tried the flourless chocolate cake which didn’t disappoint. Will go back..
Our second visit, and once again it was fabulous.
Wonderful restaurant. Excellent food, service. Loved the guitar player; nice background music. Will be back!
Very expensive, tiny portion, left hungry, spent a fortune for nothing
Nice bar area with entertainment. Food and service very good. Hubby had duck and I had veal chop special. Yummy.
Our meal was so fabulous, from the French wine to the dessert, that we had to go back a second night to try other entrees and dessert. The chef makes everything, including the desserts, and what a great job he does. Our server, especially the first night, was friendly and helpful, answering our questions and trying to help us make decisions. The fish (branzino, sesame seed crusted salmon, halibut) was cooked to perfection with heavenly sauces (just enough—not heavy) plated with two sides of your choice. The osso buco special was melt in your mouth delicious, and a gentleman at another table was eyeing it—and ended up ordering it himself. The ratatouille, which I often make at home, was the best I’ve ever had. And it was such a perfect complement to not only the white fish but also the osso buco. On our first visit, they were out of our choice of dessert, but the server said all the desserts were good, so we reluctantly tried the tiramisu—a dessert I am not that fond of. Their tiramisu is like no tiramisu I’ve ever had: it seemed like whipped cream layered with a flaky cake and there was caramel somewhere in there. Delish! The chocolate tarte the next night was decadent, to say the least. Prices were reasonable as well!
