Double Bone in Pork Chop
Generous cut, marinated and grilled to order with smoked gouda mash, tender asparagus spears and cranberry barbeque sauce
We Loved the service, The food was delicious and the prices were great!
Cafe J is a very nice place, love the ambiance. The food was delicious. I had the tenderloin & enjoyed it very much.
If this is the only option for brunch and your heart is set on it, it'll work. The reservation seemed to be a complete surprise to the hostess. Was told that sitting outside would be the 'safe choice.' The waitress covering the patio was good but overwhelmed. Had to wait on silverware after food was on the table, had to wait several passes before coffee and water were refilled, some menu items were unavailable less than an hour after it opened, and our reservation was only fifteen minutes after opening. The omelet was thin and lacking of flavor, ordered salsa just to add something to it and was just as underwhelmed at the 'salsa.' Many places list this as the best brunch in Lubbock and while I can see potential it was far from realized. I'd keep the ambience and the waitress and change about everything else.
Great food, Marielle was a wonderful waitress, and the patio was perfect!
15 min without water during meal. Marginal food quality. Hidden fees not listed in menu or by waitstaff.
It was quiet. Food was great. My two guests hadn’t been there in over 18 years. They really enjoyed it. They will be going back as will we.
Amazing and loved our server Megan!
Great menu with reasonable prices and a comfortable, casual, upscale environment
Once we finally got waited on (sat for over 30 minutes...kept trying to save someone down), waitress was very attentive. Good thing was, my friend and I hadn’t seen each other in a while, so we had lots of time to catch up.
Terrible. Reservations at 8:30pm , arrived 5 min early and was told it would be a 40 minute wait! Sent us into the bar, ordered an appetizer and dinner. They were out of 2 main dinner entrees and pinot noir wine. After 25 minutes of waiting for the appetizer, we left. Manager compted our drinks at least. Went to Funky Door and had an excellent experience as always...so don’t tell me it’s because of cv19!
Fabulous. Always love the food. Great service including the entertainment of the little one we had with us.
Our meal, drinks, & service were excellent! The only factor that was undesirable was the AC wasn’t working well at all, and it was uncomfortably warm. Other than that, everything was great.
Family get together before basketball game
Good food and service! Nice ambience and location.
first time there, but will not be the last, great food. great service. great manhattan. will make this the first stop on my return to lubbock
Visited my daughter at college in Lubbock from Houston.
This was our 2nd Visit to Cafe J for Brunch.
Food was very good.
I ordered the 8oz Strip Steak and eggs.
I was a bit disappointed as the price on the menu was $12.00 and when our bill came my meal was $24.00
I asked the waiter why I was charged $24 for a meal that was $12 on the menu and she advised me that they had a printing error on the menu and my meal was $24.
I paid the $24 for the meal but really felt they should have honored the price. I looked and several other menus on other tables and all menus showed this meal at $12...
I wish I could remember our waitresses name. She was beyond amazing. Our reservation was for Pete or Warren at 6:15 Friday night. My friend was visiting from Dallas and a food gourmet and well traveled. He said after something after she ask him pertaining to how he wanted his Makers, that was a sign of an excellent restaurant if the server was versed in that. Very impressed with restaurant, ambiance and, above all, our server. Thank you
Great! Food is always good. Always great service and the bar drinks are the best in town.
Overall great service and excellent food
Cafe J is my go to restaurant when we have out of town guests. A number of the items on the menu were new and looked interesting. The chicken wonton appetizer was great but we probably needed two platters for four people, as we just got one little wonton each. My salmon was cooked just right but I would have preferred a different side than okra. We all shared the flourless chocolate cake and that was a big hit. All in all a wonderful evening.
It has been awhile since I have been here. Not for any negative reason, but because it is a bit out of my way to get here. After my dinner last night, though, I will make more of an effort to be back. The food is always good, but the service really stood out last night. The waiter’s name, I can’t recall, but he was outstanding. Maybe one of the best I have have seen at any restaurant. He was attentive without being a nuisance, but it was his interaction with the table near us that really stood out. He remembered each of the two older couples names and their “usual” drink orders. He was very professional, but personable at the same time. Certainly, hard to come by, and an asset to the organization. The only slightly off-putting item was that the restaurant has a surcharge if you use a credit card.
surprised to see patrons are charged credit card fees- we have frequented with Cafe J & prior Grapevine restaurant.
We came for the prefix New Years dinner. Cafe j is one of our favorite places so we had high expectations. We chose the fish option. The fish was a little dry which is unusual for Cafe j the service was excellent. Overall we felt they were a little off their game this particular evening.
It was horrible
The restaurant smells like backed up sewer water. It is really strong in the waiting area, but you can still smell it throughout the place. Not very pleasing and can quickly ruin your appetite.
Wonderful food and drinks at brunch!
We went for lunch during graduation weekend. Great Time!
We have enjoyed Cafe J for 10+ years. The recent changes to the menu were met with excitement, however we were disappointed after our recent visit.
To make a long story short, a group of 12 spent over $1000 at dinner at Cafe J, then moved to the Art Bar for one drink before heading home. We happened upon “open mic night” at the Art Bar, where we were met with resentment and targeted by the comedians.
We were asked to move to a different area of the bar due to our conversation being “too loud” to enjoy the comedy. We gladly obliged and moved without objection.
Soon after, the men of our group (doctors, business owners, husbands and fathers) were referenced in one of the “comedy acts” as rapists. This for obvious reasons was very offensive to our group and we will not visit Cafe J or the Art Bar again. It was handled poorly by the staff and ruined what should have been a nice evening.
I ordered a sandwich with a chicken breast. The breast had been frozen for weeks or months, then cooked. It was like hot leather and had no flavor. The bun for the sandwich had not been warmed. I also ordered a bowl of French onion soup which was looked like an open sewer but was tasteless. The cheese, croutons and onions managed to be blended in a broth that had zero distinction and less flavor. A friend cut a "sliced turkey" sandwich and it included two thin slices of processed turkey...could have made a better sandwich in my sleep. This was less than mediocre meal and was had no value. The only redeeming parts of this meal were the sweet potato fries and the attentive service.
Cameron was our waiter he was beyond polite, helped us as soon as we were seated. He was just outstanding recommended what he loved and pairs my two wonderful drinks with what I ordered. We will be back!!!
Good food, service efficient, quiet so could visit, and convenient.
Great place to take your guests for a special Lubbock place. Food was good - our guests said theirs was awesome. I got the crepes - not much there and ok.
Excellent wait service. One of my favorite places to dine.
I had the scallops. They were good but came to the table with a very noticeable fishy smell. More than there should have been. The risotto was too dry
Great service this evening. All the food came out at the same time, so nice. Attentive waitress. Wonderful menu choices.
Great food, great service.,
Food was marginal at best- no ambiance for anything but eating. Business casual dress is a joke- women in sport bras & yoga pants, men in cargo shorts & ball caps, - basically “ Zero dress code”.
The food was amazing. The staff was so friendly. The besos caliente appetizer was delicious. The champagne chicken was so tasty. I highly recommended
I hadn’t been here in some time, and now I don’t know why, because everything was awesome. Great food... good martinis and our serve (Regan)... was the best. We’ll be back soon!!!!!!
We love Cafe J. Grant was great as usual. The food and drinks were equally as great! We also love to sit at the bar and eat. Clint is a great bartender!
