   Cafe Gratitude has mastered fine vegan cuisine and is clearly the brain child of someone who loves this planet, our fellow animals, and delicious nourishment. The menu changes all the time but the formula stays the same: combine an aspirational sentiment with a flavor-festival bursting with color and tongue-tingling attractions. This is a small, indie chain. We have had it on our list for some time and finally chose an overcast day in LA to hop on the freeway and have a late lunch in Hollywood. We were there in just over 30 minutes and found a parking spot steps from Cafe Grat. Inside it is bright, plant-filled (all live plants, of course), with different sections, white tables, and the friendliest staff I can think of, every one of them rushing forward to greet us and make us feel welcome. All over are comforting and challenging affirmations. In fact, our first server, Crawley, who was smiling broader than a Cheshire cat, asked each of us to be thinking about our top super-power. Then there is the genius of the menu. You can see the latest ones on their website. We had, I AM: Thriving, Sharing, Restored, Golden, Humble, and Devoted. There was such a satisfying amount on each dish that we totally forgot to stay for dessert. My pictures should speak volumes and you can see the individual ingredients in the descriptions online. If it was this pleasant on a cloudy day, I can only imagine how joyful it feels when the sun is beaming through the endless windowed walls.

   Brunch was delicious. We had the breakfast burrito and the acai bowl. Great service too.

   It is very pricy and the portions were very small. We were all still hungry and they charged an extra $4.25 for gluten free bread which was fine but it was so small not even the size of a piece of regular bread. Felt gouged

   Every time I travel from Massachusetts, I visit Cafe Gratitude with a friend. This time however, our server was not friendly or engaging in the least. I watched him with other tables and he was absolutely engaging and having conversations. He treated us like we were a nuisance. Very interesting. The gentleman who sat us and took our order was extremely engaging and nice. He even spoke to my mother in Spanish which made her feel comfortable. The food was excellent as usual and I loved the music!
