   Excellent pasta and the caprese was great and enough for 3. Service was very good and prompt. I would go back. A very family friendly, festive environment.

   The food was horrible. Service was horrible. From the time we sat down to order until we left was 25 minutes.

   Being the one who needs to source fabulous restaurants for business groups it is important to pick the best. After our trip our colleagues indicated Giovanni's was the best dining establishment of the entire New Orleans trip. Thank you!!!!!

   Great menu, attentive service. Piano player added to ambience, while there listened to several tunes sung by soprano. All around wonderful experience. Would highly recommend the spaghetti (with meatballs or the Bolognese sauce); garlic bread was good, as was the cannoli.

   We needed a place to carb-load before the marathon! This was way more than just pasta! This was a great restaurant experience!

   We wanted a good dinner before heading to the Saenger Theater and thought of Café Giovanni. I had read about the new caprese salad with crabmeat and crawfish and wanted to try it. Stated with great Old Fashions made by Scott. Then onto the caprese salad. It did not disappoint. It was so delicious. We also had the avocado seafood salad, the mushroom soup and short ribs. All was delicious and served wonderfully by Terrance. This is our go to Italian restaurant when wanting to eat downtown. We always know the food will be great and the experience wonderful.

   I brought a group of five to Cafe Giovanni because it had good reviews on Open Table and it was close to our hotel. Everyone agreed that it was the highlight of our time in New Orleans. The food was terrific and the service was wonderful. The entertainment was really special - strolling singers and the piano. Make sure you have a reservation! I will be back next time I am in New Orleans.

   We booked a reservation for a group on Valentine's Day. We were under the impression we would order off of the main menu and they would additionally serve a prefix menu if you were interested. When we arrived we were pleased with the ambiance. We were sat and the waitress showed up shortly after. She advised us that they were only serving the prefix menu. She took our drink order and left. A musical group with 2 singers and a pianist started to preform. They were lovely. They alone made the evening! As we looked over the menu none of us were blown away by the options, but we ordered anyway. The waitress came back and took our full order. The drinks we ordered finally showed up after we received our 1st course (About 10 minutes later). The main dishes all showed up and they were COVERED in sauces that were over salty, over peppered and just plain over seasoned. It was very unappetizing. Dessert was ok, nothing to rave about... The bill ended up being $300. I would not have minded to spend that kind of money had the food been up to par and the service been slightly elevated. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless they wanted a fabulous music performance during an over-priced, under-whelming dinner.

    We thoroughly enjoy the food that Chef Duke prepares; however the live opera singers are an added bonus and one of the reasons we select this restaurant for special occasions.
