   The food was very good. The service was adequate. There were 3 of us on a Friday evening. The place was empty. While the food tasted good, I was disappointed that the portions tended to be small, even though the prices are higher. We ordered a couple of appetizers, and then 2 entrees. Since it was three of us, the waiter brought an extra rice. When the bill came, they had an additional charge for the rice. Also, I requested some fried noodles for my soup. There was an additional charge for these too, even though most chinese restaurants provide these with no charge. I wouldn't have minded the additional charges on both of these items if our waiter would have at least mentioned that they charge for these items. In all, there was nothing so special about Cafe Ginger to bring me back anytime soon.

   Valentines...we were hungry and waitress was very busy, not too much attention but it’s ok, we understand it was V day. We ordered our food and dumplings for appetizer, however our rolls were all brought and dumplings way later, we were too stuffed to eat them, barely tried them and no apology and charged anyways. Since we were not going home afterwards we couldn’t even take them...sadly they were waisted.

   The server was friendly but inexperienced. The seafood soup was excellent and the beef quality is better than most Chinese restaurants. I did not care for the brown sauces on our dishes.

   Cafe Ginger is the rarity of an Asian cuisine restaurant with both terrific food and a lovely atmosphere. (The restaurant is beautifully decorated). The menu is broad with sushi as well as Chinese dishes, some traditional and some more innovative specials. The shrimp stuffed egg rolls and shredded duck apps were terrific. Special fried rice was fresh and the special lobster tail stir fry was quite good. There is a wine and spirits list with good options (not bargains, but decent drinking). Capable service.

   The service was not up to the usual standard. Not used to asking to orfer or for a drink refill. Complimentary dessert was (frozen) tiramisu...good intentions.

   Food is good but overpriced. Though service was good this time, it has been poor several times in the past. At best, service is spotty. The prior time it took 20 minutes to pay with my gift card. Once they served main course with the appetizers and did not give us serving spoons or even plates for the main course. I have found management unresponsive to any comments. I was using the last of my gift card but will not return.

   We were seated 25 minutes past our reservation. Then it took another 25 minutes before we saw our first waiter. Very disappointing experience. They brought out our appetizers and didn’t give us plates to eat from. Another 15 minutes later we were able to flag someone down to bring us plates.

    we really enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere of the Galleria area as someone who was looking to explore different areas and cuisines of Houston.
