We visited Cafe Gauguin on a Friday night after flying into Orlando for a weekend property search trip - we were staying in a Residence Inn right by the convention center, so this place was close and convenient. Initially we were the only party in the large space, but shortly after we arrived an extremely large convention group came in - college students, no less, spread out in groups over most of the remaining tables. Even so, staff was quick to meet everyone's needs and pretty good about replenishing the buffet. The food was very well made and there was somewhat wide variety of food choices. Even so, we felt like the cost was a bit much for the value provided. Staff especially was top notch, though. We probably wouldn't eat here again on our own dime, but as part of a convention group, we'd be happy to dine again.
We made reservations for breakfast, open table app confirmed same. Got there, and restaurant was closed!!!!
Had a quick business lunch, it was great, the Buffett saved lots of time and we had our lunch and our meeting and carried on our way.
The buffet was not open. which was not apparent when making reservations. Regular service was horrible, despite being practically the only ones in the restaurant. The restaurant should have been closed or there should have been reasonable service. Worst restaurant experience ever. Gave 2 stars for the house salad and pasta. All else cold, late or unappetizing.
The Christmas buffet was outstanding. There was gorgeous desserts someone worked very hard. The food was delicious. We will be back next Christma!!
We have been bringing my mom for every holiday since she moved here after my dad passed away. This was the worst service we have ever received. We had a party of 5 and prepaid. ($320). We chose 4p because it is never crowded. I requested a table close to the buffet, however we were seated far away and squeezed in between 2 loud obnoxious groups. My mom is 91 and blind, my husband is 81 and cannot walk far as he is disabled with a foley. I put this in my comments. Not only that, we had no service whatsoever! Our drinks were not refilled, the plates were not removed which made the whole experience horrible! For $320 I expected better!
Greeters were very sour, disinterested, unfriendly people. Once inside, traffic patterns were too tight, staff gathered in very inconvenient spots, servers didn't come around often enough to refill water, and other beverages. Food was acceptable - not great. Overall - for $200 plus for just 3 people, I expected much higher quality and service.
This was the best experience we could have chosen for Christmas dinner. Service was amazing!!! It was well organized. There was an abundance and variety of delicious food!! Best decision ever!! We will be back
Couldn't say I would recommend. All I can say is that I tried it. I won't give up on the Rosen. I'll be trying the buffet at the Rosen Shingle Creek in the future.
Very good holiday brunch buffet. Large selection of entrees, vegetables, seafood and salads. Also outstanding dessert selections.
Our servers were attentive without being intrus I've. Very polite and pleasing to talk with. Mr. Rosen even made an appearance at our table as he does every year. This is a great experience for our family. We will be back next year for sure.
Went for the Christmas brunch. The food and service were very good but the logistics were awful. The signage didn't specify it was for the brunch so I thought it was for a convention hosted by the hotel. Waited 10 minutes at the restaurant entrance with nobody there to greet or signage saying check in was moved elsewhere. Eventually found the check in location but was treated as a walk up even though I specified I had made a reservation. Thought I had pre-paid for the reservation at the quoted $50.95 price only to be charged over $130 on site for the two of us. The serving stations were spread throughout the restaurant and negotiating your way around was a challenge since there were many choke points with not much room between tables and serving stations and other furniture. Since we don't drink the free champagne and mimosas weren't a benefit but I'm sure were a factor in the cost and why it wasn't worth the price for us.
Our family really enjoyed our Christmas brunch. The selection of food was great and the service was excellent. We will surely be back in the future.
The Christmas buffet was perfect. We will be back next year
This year was extremely disappointing. It seems like the selection is getting cheaper and the price is getting higher. My husband and I have been going for quite a few years but we've decided we wont be back. We left within 30 min of getting there.
Possibly the worst buffet choice I have seen in a long time, including in a work cafeteria. Very poor choices, salad leaves, grated carrots, cold cuts and grated egg was about it. Honestly bad. The only saving grace is that its near the conference center, and the booths are large, and if you need a lunch meeting, you can just ignore the food
One guests meal was inedible. It was removed from the bill. The food was average and the price not bad for International Dr. The service was outstanding by the wait staff, the people greeting, and those cleaning.
Everything was great. The only problem we had( since we’ve been there in the past ) was that the table we requested was not cleared off (still dirty from last customer) and we couldn’t have that table. We said we’d even wait a few minutes for it, but was told no. No idea why we could wait for It to be cleaned)
4th year in a row I have been to the TG buffet. It's simply wonderful!
The Thanksgiving buffet is always outstanding! We have been to Cafe Gauguin for Thanksgiving several times, and we are more impressed each year. The vast selection of soups, salads, entrees, and desserts provides something for everyone. Our waiters were attentive throughout our meal. We recommend Cafe Gauguin for Thanksgiving!
The food, service and the unlimited champagne and choice of cheeses and fruits before the dinner were fantastic. We live in 80 miles from Orlando and come to stay in Rosen Centre every year because of the Thanksgiving dinner!
My husband is blind, that's why I requested the table next to the buffet, and we got the best seats possible. It was very nice. Thank you! Hope to see you next year.
We arrived at the Hotel and there was only valet parking...when we left the hotel all of my radio stations were changed to latin/spanish music..I was not happy. We walked to the reservation ions area and were met by a really sullen employee who said that they were not ready to sit us. I went to the ladies who were processing the credit cards and found them just as sullen...great way to start off a thanksgiving dinner! The buffet was run of the mill and nothing to write home about! Worth the $50.00 per person..NO!
Absolutely fabulous. From the valet to the predinner snacks and drinks, dinner choices to the dessert , it was an outstanding experience. Thank you!
Amazing Thanksgiving dinner
Spectacular Thanksgiving Buffet. Made this special day very memorable with countless delectable delights. First Class delivery in a well appointed setting. Would highly recommend this once a year event to all my friends for an unparalleled experience.
It was tight, and food choices could of been better
The food was great; I only gave it 3 stars because I really would have liked a beef option.
The holiday brunch is wonderful for those who hate doing dishes. The service staff in the restaurant are top notch and very accommodating. Only complaint is the new check-in process where you need to walk to a table of bored looking employees, give them your name, then you are directed down flight of stairs to the lobby bar to yet another table of bored looking employees, who will handle the payment. Then you are directed to a third table across the room to give them your payment receipt, and they will tell you to wait to be seated. There are complimentary drinks, fruit and cheese in the bar area, which is nice but a bit unnecessary since we're about to go to a huge buffet brunch. Everything is lovely except the check-in process.
Have been celebrating our events with you for several years. ALWAYS a pleasure to spend several hours "eating" at your establishment. The service is top-notch, and we look forward to our Christmas reservation 2019.....
We enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner here. There were a lot of meal options including a breakfast area. The staff was very friendly. Not to mention we also had complimentary mimosas and sangrias.
This place has gone downhill. Table was dirty. Silver was dirty. Food was substandard. Will never come back.
Thanksgiving buffet, we have been to several other holiday buffets here the previous few years and the food was delicious. This year the food did not taste as good to us, the shrimp was frozen, but they do have a large selection to choose from.
The Holiday Brunch at the Rosen Centre was excellent. The setting was elegant and the selection and quality were superb. It was very well organized in that check-in and payment were handled in the front bar of the hotel, where one could enjoy mimosas and some snacks before being seated. Finally, Mr. Rosen himself came by at one point to greet everyone and thank them for coming, which was appreciated.
We have been to 3 Rosen Hotels for Thanksgiving brunch over the years. This was our first time at Gaugins. The food and service are ex ellent. We highly recommend Gaugins.
The dining room is roomy. The food choices guarantee something for e eryone.
Check in was very unorganized. Three ladies taking money were more interested in talk amongst them selves than dealing with customers. Prepaid over the phone 2-3 days prior when they called to confirm reservation. When picking up reservation I was told I did not pay. After verifying with bank this indeed was true, I paid slightly more at the register. The lady who seated us could not find our table number. After parading us around the restaurant, one in our party had a bad leg, we asked for the table number to assist in finding the table. After being seated, the wait staff was fantastic. The food was excellent. Atmosphere great as always. About the 7-8th thanksgiving with you. We will not let a slow start stop us from returning.
We have always enjoyed the Holiday Brunches at Café Gauguin. The variety should take care of everyone in a group -- beef/poultry/pork/seafood/vegan/Oriental/Spanish-tapas -- breakfast/lunch-dinner items -- personal touch of hand-carved meats & pasta or dessert or breakfast stations. All the staff are friendly. We told a friend about the peeled shrimp on ice that is at all their brunches. Her family then took her to the Mother's Day Brunch so she could have her favorite seafood item for that day & enjoyed the overall experience. And unlike a lot of other hotels who offer special buffets/brunches for holidays, this one is NOT hidden in some standard, square, ballroom. It is in their very large main dining room, where you can see the grand staircase & wonderful sunshine outside the hallway windows. So you can enjoy the Florida scenery outside while you dine indoors.
We have been here for the last 4 years and have always found everything to be great. Highly recommend.
Overpriced poor quality buffet. Service was exceptionally slow re: taking drink orders and getting the check.
Seemed buffet was what was featured - limited choices but food was good. Restaurant was not busy but not a lot of attention from staff.
The buffet was not worth the price charged. They ran out of the meat and took a long time to refill it. The carving board ran out of the prime rib and ended up serving overcooked end pieces. Not enough selection of vegetables. Very disappointing.
