Another great meal at Cafe Frank! We come here often because we are never disappointed- the menu is awesome, the food prep and presentation is superb, and the wine and cocktails are outstanding. It's great for a small group as well as couples wanting some quality time together.

I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Cafe Frank. It’s clear that the staff is happy to work here. The food and drink were very good. There was a variety of choices. Prices seem to have increased quite a bit, so dinner is not inexpensive. It’s a good experience overall to dine here.

We came to Charlottesville for a concert and this place is super close to the Paramount Theater, the concert venue. I picked this place because of the location and it has a nice menu. We were seated promptly. The staff were super helpful and friendly. We both had the halibut, which was exceptional. We were told to stay as long as we wanted, so there was no feeling of rushing. It was not loud in the restaurant so you could easily converse. Not really recommended for kids. Reservations are highly recommended as the place is small. The menu is small too, but offers a nice selection of French and American cuisine. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Cafe Frank was amazing! We went for a dinner date for my boyfriend's birthday, and already taking about the next time we can go! Get the fried mushrooms, frito misto, & duck confit and you will be happy :)

This was our first time going to the Cafe and it was not bad but not great. It was just ok. We sat outside so we cannot speak of the ambiance. Service was solid. The food was a fixed menu which was fine and the choices seemed good. So when meals came out: One side of the chicken dish was a bit overcooked so made it a bit tough. Salmon was cooked but smoked trout relish appetizer was underwhelming. Dessert might have been the best dish out of trio. Pork loin also cooked well it lacked flavor. So for $60 a person it was not worth the money considering the quality of the dishes.

The graduation menu seemed appealing enough on paper, but turned out heing the most disappointing meal we've had at Cafe Frank. We ordered the trout rillettes, the tagliatelle, the chicken, and two martinis. The rillettes tasted fine...more like whitefish salad than rillettes, but the portion was tiny...like a scant 3 tablespoons of the mixture (like a ketchup ramekin), with 4 capers on top and two very thin pieces of toast. Why do restaurants always skimp on the easiest and cheapest things like sliced bread? The undersalted tagliatelle wouldnt have filled a cup measure and was devoid of any flavor other than butter. The chicken was cooked fine, but it was one small thigh, a small spoonful of mashed potatoes (undersalted) and a stack of what can only be described as woody, flavorless vegetable fiber (chefs: quickly blanche your green beans in heavily salted water first, regardless of your further preparation, any classically trained chef will tell you this). These were completely inedible. Our entrees were mid grade hotel buffet food. Really, really disappointing. The martinis, were delicious, as always. Sadly we didnt have Dylan, our normal server, and a real pro, but he did stop by to say hello. He always deserves 5 stars, btw. Our server asked how the meal was, we both kind of shrugged, and she said "So glad you're loving it!" We weren't. We initially were planning to get dessert, but decided against it. We've stuck by Cafe Frank through its many iterations...French, Italian, Franco-Iitalian...even the tiki bar menu phase...but this meal was just boring and unfilling and unsatisfying. We went to get burgers afterward. They were delicious btw. Going to take Cafe Frank out of the regular rotation for a while and maybe be back in the fall for braising season.

The weather was good so we ate outside. The service was friendly and attentive. We recommend eating outside.
