Food was average. Drinks were good. Waiter was good and attentive. Overall, a decent experience. Have had better for sure.
This was a fantastic place!
Stumbled across this on Open Table in our search for Valentine's Dinner (Saturday night) and was more than pleasantly surprised. The Lobster Roll appetizer was incredible and plenty to share! The Crispy Ribs were delicious and plenty of fall off the bone meat. We were only there for drinks and appetizers but can't wait to go back. Speaking of drinks, they made an awesome Espresso Martini.
This place is fine, but it doesn’t belong in downtown Austin. The food and experience is incomparable to its neighbors. I’m shocked by the high ratings. The peel and eat shrimp was great, the cocktails were not good and all ice, the wine marked up 400% for some bottles, the main entrees were fine and satisfying, but overpriced for quality (not overpriced for location). Was I disappointed? Not really, just underwhelmed. Would I go back? Probably not.
We loved Cafe Blue. Everything from the food to the service was great! My hubby already wants to go back and try different entrees.
This was my first visit to Cafe Blue but will not be my last, the food was great and we had not issues or concerns with our service.
It was very slow with not so many people. The food was fair. The Paloma was great
Service was very slow and waiter was non-attentive. Food was mediocre at best. My wife sent her chicken fried ribeye and eggs back because it was very greasy. I would not recommend this restaurant for brunch.
Excellent food and outstanding service. Will absolutely go back when in town,
Server was great....very attentive and friendly....Appetizers were great...(oysters and mussels) ....fish entrees were fresh but a little over-cooked....sauce and crab stuffing was a little lacking....sauce was bland and it was as if crab meat was pasteurized....not as fresh tasting as typical lump, backfin is...
Cook didnt wear a mask, oysters were sold out. Would not go again.
I will start by admitting that we had a large group of 8 people that hadn’t seen each other in quite some time. That said, we were a little louder than other tables.
The service was extremely slow, and I felt as if our waiter didn’t serve us, so as to make us want to leave. It was a late dinner, in a restaurant in the middle of downtown on a Friday night. I would expect to see parties who may want to come to your restaurant to have a good time.
Ultimately, we left and went to Geraldines up the street and had a remarkably better experience. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming, the food was great, and the atmosphere was welcoming to large parties to want to have a lot of laughs.
The food was very good. I felt the oysters were a bit pricey for what they were. Overall I enjoyed it, but our server started off strong and then dropped the ball the second half. I would eat there again, and recommend it overall.
The ceviche is some of the best we have had and we have traveled extensively and tried ceviche in many parts of the world. I highly recommend it.
Absolutely incredible food, service and wine. Server was very knowledgeable and accommodating.
The waiter was rude and the food was mediocre. Definitely Not worth the price.
The food was delicious and our waiter was very attentive and did a great job as well. Will definitely be back our next visit to Austin.
Steven was a wonderful host to our table for 2. They were knowledgable about the entire menu and provided great hints. The noise was quiet for about 5 other tables near us. Food was excellent.
Pleasant place, good location, Food was good but they did not get our order correct.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was looking for a last minute option for 10 people for 7pm on a Friday night. This was a for a group of Execs and the CEO of my company. There weren't many options available and I had previously been to Cafe Blue's other location in Bee Cave so I felt good about recommending the team here... The ambience is a bit tacky, the lighting is bright and the decor is lacking. Signature marlin on the wall and not much else. Music level was great. Some of the staff were wonderful, but our server must have been having a bad day as the service was not great or even very friendly. We were the only table there for the most part so that was disappointing. Mostly everyone enjoyed the appetizers, the calamari and the coconut shrimp was great. Then the entrees... Our CEO and COO both got steaks, and to our dismay both were very overcooked and really tough. Needless to say, they were gently sent back and both of them ordered soups- my CEO also got a wedge salad. When the salad was presented, I was quietly horrified- it came garnished with beautiful tomatoes, blue cheese, bacon....and cheddar goldfish crackers. The kind you give to kids. I get it, a fun little joke for a "seafood" restaurant...but my CEO got an inedible steak followed by a wedge salad with GOLDFISH CRACKERS on it...sigh. Maybe a nicer restaurant could have pulled off the crackers, but this time it was not the right audience at all. I waved goodbye to my career as we left the restaurant. CEO and COO got some bomb french fries down the street and had a much better experience.
Excellent menu choices. Reasonable prices considering the location and ambience. The COVID situation well handled, we felt secure. Attentive servers. Wish you would open a spot in Georgetown.
Every plate was crafted well, the flavors meshed perfectly. Our server was knowledgable and perfectly attentive.
The 2 men working on Sunday night were not welcoming at all! No margarita should cost someone $32.00. Or WARN people Bc no one is ever expecting to pay 32.00 for 1 margarita. They were not friendly at all. We were in town celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary looking to have a nice evening. The place was pretty empty and they could have given us more attention but it was as if they wanted us to hurry up and leave. If the service had at least been half way decent maybe the $64.00 I paid for 2 margaritas wouldn’t have hurt so much! But to have poor customer service on top of sky high prices it was a horrible experience! I will tell everyone I know about this experience and warn them of how unpleasant and inconsiderate the staff was. It was totally degrading for us. It was our last night in Austin and I HATE that they were our choice. Never again!
Food was awesome! And they make substitutions. Had great mimosa selections too.
The food is fresh; the menu varied and perfect; If you haven't been, run don't walk to either location!
Food wasn’t very good. Wine greatly over priced and warm.
Was disappointed to eat in The bar. Not what we were hoping for that evening. Food and service were good enough.
Great oysters! Good service.
The poached eggs were very under cooked but other than that everything looked just like the pictured and tasted great .. I would revisit the restaurant.
Great food and service
The food was very good. Our waiter Patric was extremely nice.
Steven was awesome second visit this week again the food was perfect the service was great thank you again foe a wonderful meal
Patrick was awesome a great server. The meal was great Filet Oscar was cooked perfectly we will be back very soon
We love Cafe Blue, being able to sit outside & food & drinks are always great.
Nice place and has a patio; located downtown across from Marriott and convention center. We had Oysters, trout and Fried Shrimp. The food was good along with the service. We recommend trying it.
Only two asparagus spears with meal. Bread rolls stone cold. Caesar salad full of romaine ribs. All in all, just mediocre meal.
We went for Sunday Brunch. Service and food were great !! I would definitely go back.
Could be better for the price you pay
Mediocre dining experience. Food is a solid three star. Service was inattentive. Had to consistently ask for water refills, etc
Great place for outside lunch. The oysters were delicious, and I will happily go back again and again. The outdoor music created a fun vibe.
