Located in Hyde Park, on the corner of 43rd and Speedway in the historic former post office building, Bureau de Poste at Tiny Grocer is a neighborhood French bistro offering classics with a modern twist. Open for daily dinner and weekend brunch. Indoor and outdoor patio seating available. We were featured in the Texas Monthly issue of the Best New Restaurants in 2023 as one of only 2 restaurants in Austin to receive the honor. We would love to have you join us!

I had been meaning to go for some time. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very nice and accommodating. I wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar because you end up looking at the Tiny Grocer's space which while clean lacks any charm while eating. The food was generally solid. The escargot's were very good but not super hot. Similarly the frites that came with the burger were warm not hot. The BDP Burger was very good and cooked to perfection. The bacon jam was an excellent touch. Great Hyde Park addition.

We LOVE this restaurant and hadn’t been in maybe 4 months. We brought someone who had never been. We were so excited to see they had cocktails now on the menu! We were disappointed to learn from our (inattentive, attitudinal) server that we could no longer order the smaller portion of the chicken paillard off the kids menu (in addition to several appetizers, a bottle of wine, several cocktails, and the steak frites), which had never been a problem in the past. We were totally turned off by our servers request that we tip in cash, if we had any, because she doesn’t get the full tip on the point of sale system. Whatever managerial changes have been made need to be refocused on hiring the right front of house talent and not on controlling what food items people are allowed or not allowed to order. Additionally, if ordering restrictions are age based, then I’d kindly note that children should not be allowed to have a Mac & Cheese order from the sides and instead be made to order an item from the KIDS MENU, as we witnessed that being an acceptable order from our table mates. The food, however, was still stellar.

We've never had a bad meal at Bureau de Poste. The staff is excellent and we love to browse Tiny Grocery after we've dined.

This visit was one week after a previous visit and the difference was remarkable—service sloppy (drinks with contents not cleaned off the bottom of glass, waitress not very communicative or knowledgeable, presentation of food not well executed, especially salad. Mostly rushed and careless service compared to the impeccable care exhibited the week before. Food was still good but the overall experience disappointing. It was likely a staffing issue. But please—we love your restaurant and hope this was one off night.

The quality of the food at this restaurant has gone down. We were disappointed with nearly everything we ordered. Burgers, halibut, and lobster were all overcooked. The salads and fries were good. Nice patio. Would probably go back for drinks, but not to eat.
