Our family was in town and wanted to try this new restaurant. We love Hyde Park area and for years visited the post office prior to it closing. Thought it would be fun to see what the new restaurant offered, also we love French food. We ordered the cheese plate in addition to a couple other starters and a variety of entrées. Cheese plate was very small and presentation was lacking. Highlights of the meal or the ratatouille steak and fries and the chicken entrée. we sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful patio area, and prior to dining enjoyed browsing the market inside. Downside-Did not appreciate the 3% add on to our bill to cover credit card charges. In addition would like to have had an itemized receipt prior to being asked to pay the bill. As we were leaving, I purchased $100 gift card to give as a Christmas gift to a couple who I thought would enjoy having lunch and walking the market. After the transaction was complete I realize they had charged me the 3% surcharge for buying the gift card with my credit card. I maybe a bit old-school but really did not appreciate not being told this prior to the purchase. I did not see any signage that said they added the surcharge to purchases, but I may have missed it. Will we go back? We all loved the setting and the feel of the restaurant's outdoor patio and market. May try for lunch probably not for dinner. Either way will make sure I take cash with me.

poor french onion soup, particularly for a french bistro. in all 8 orders the cheese barely melted and floating on bottom of bowl. not hot. no crouton and cheese “raft” encasing a bubbling cauldron of soup. cassoulet was fair. steak frites good. appreciate the staff putting our two four top reservations together outside so all 8 of us could sit together.

Our server was actually great!! and the food was great too. We felt taken advantage of by the wine person. we had asked for a bottle in a price range that we received, but then were charged a crazy amount for the same wine by the glass. it should have been mentioned and he was not very nice.

We had a delightful meal in the outdoor setting. Our waitress, Loretta, was friendly, professional and made sure we were acquainted with the menu and had everything we needed. Not an extensive menu, meaning that what they do us with excellence. Our skate (not often offered) was great as was the ratatouille, crème brûlée and chocolate dessert. We shall return!

Terrible! The food was bland and tasteless except the lobster that tasted of char, only char. The flavours was rubbery and flavorless. It is so disappointing to think you are about to taste something delicious and get 'that'. It tasted like fake food you might make for a photo shoot. We are embarrassed that we took someone here to celebrate their birthday! And for the price we could have gone to Uchiko, seriously.

A very relaxing patio. The ambience was calm and perfect for date night or catching up with friends. The wine was amazing with plenty to choose from by the glass or bottle. The staff was pleasant. The food was delicious and priced fair with some vegan options. We will be going back.

The food was delicious, with a charming outdoor patio. The was staff friendly. However, there are basics, much to my surprise, that were missing, like asking how the meal is, or offering ketchup or mayonnaise with fries. Speaking of, as someone who has dined at numerous French restaurants throughout Europe, Canada the U.S., and worked for a French chef, I have never ordered moule frites without bread accompanying the dish. It was odd not to have bread offered at the table, but unacceptable with a classic dish I which bread is always served. We did receive it by the end of the meal, after finally having a chance to ask for the bread. Hopefully, the kinks will be worked out soon.

Our appetizers were nice. Steak frites were not cooked to our liking. Small details overall were off for example: the steak should have been on a bigger plate to allow for ease of cutting. Sitting outside was very pleasant.

Food was great - classic French with a few twists. Service was poor - we poured our own wine all evening, our main course was rushed before we were finished with apps, and dirty plates weren’t removed in a timely fashion. This price point should come with a much higher standard of service. Additionally the lighting was too bright and the cool LED color was dentist office-y.

This was our first visit to Bureau de Poste and we liked it...but not quite loved it. The first thing to note is that eating in the restaurant means eating in the grocery store...that's fine, but it's not quite what I expected. The dining area is really bright as opposed to the darker lighting you typically see in a dinner setting. They have a lovely outdoor space that I'm sure will be fantastic when the weather is nice. The french fries and creme brûlée were both perfect - SO good. I would go back for that dessert alone. Steak dishes and mussels were "pretty good," according to my companions, but I wasn't knocked out by the burger (and the burger is $22, so I really wanted to be knocked out). Good wine selection and the staff is friendly. I'm tempted to go back at lunch time and try a few other things on the menu.

I was super excited to try the brunch here. Unfortunately, I found the menu choices to be lacking and quite expensive for what you got. However, I guess that is now the situation in austin, so I should probably just get used to it !!

Great, knowledgeable wait staff and unpretentious, very good food. Location is beautiful and will be a great addition to the Hyde Park neighborhood. Looks like they are kid friendly too.

Bureau de Poste is a fantastic addition to Austin's dining choices, and it's not even a Larry McGuire restaurant! The food was superb--so rare to find Skate and it was perfectly cooked, buttery and delicious. The salad with it was a bit boring. The potato puff with trout roe also delicious. The creme brûlée was very smooth and good, but the chocolate mousse was way too rich and sweet for my tastes. My guest loved it however. I will definitely come again as often as I can get in. I want to try the duck confit, escargot, other veggies. And I love the Tiny Grocer for browsing after dinner.
