I was a long-time customer of the former Hyde Park post office, and to see it evolve into such a lovely new iteration has been a welcome surprise! I brought my mother here to celebrate a mile stone birthday. Letting the staff know ahead of time, they received us with a warm birthday greeting. :) There was a sweet note for her on our table signed by the chef, and we “made room” :P for her beautiful, delicious, (and complimentary) dessert! The dinner was flavorful, particularly the Dijon vinaigrette dressing, on our salad. My portobello “burger”, and the crusty (but NOT hard, AND freshly made) bun were SO good! Our server (who was warm, efficient, and unobtrusive) recommended a delightful sparkling wine. We had a relaxed and fulfilling meal outside in the Bureau de Poste courtyard. It was easy to hold conversations that mingled with the low noise level. They have good fans, and those “whirly things” for the tables to discourage flys and such. We will definitely come back to this five star, (for me!) little restaurant.

The lobster frites is what draws me in on Tuesday night for dinner. The french onion soup is some of the BEST I have had. The service is superb too! For me, I am so excited to have this elevated dining experience in my neighborhood!

We were there early and sat inside so not very crowded yet and we were able to have a conversation without straining to hear the others in party. The food was on point like the few times before! My new favorite neighborhood place!

Re: Vegan options - I would recommend a larger portion on the portobello burger. Add some sauce to the burger to spice it up otherwise it was just a simple small portion mushroom burger. Nothing special. The fries were great - just the right amount of salt and deep fried to perfection. The service was 5stars!

We were super excited to try this place because we are French food fanatics, and realize that there’s not that many French restaurants in Austin any longer. Loved the ambience and the service was great. The host was super accommodating when trying to move us indoors because I was worried that it was too hot for outdoors. But in the end, the outdoor patio with its misters was just right! The moule frittes and escargot were our favs. We ordered the steak with frittes cooked medium, and it came out well done so that was a bit disappointing. The au poivre sauce was a tad too creamy for my liking so I will ask for it on the side next time. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and will return to try other dishes.
