First time trying out Bulla on the advice of friends and we weren't disappointed! We stuck to a selection of tapas to get a little taste of many different things. My daughter enjoyed the margherita flatbread while my wife loved the chicken pintxos. Our favorite was definitely the Montaditos though. We sat on the patio and even though it was after seven it was a breezeless warm evening and some fans to create some air circulation would've been nice. We hope to return soon to try out the entrees!
The quality of the food was at a level better than or equal to the best Restuarants that we have been to in Charlotte. Every dish was better than the previous. Ryan’s service was perfect. Quick, responsive when needed. We loved that Luis, the E chef came by to make sure that everything was to our liking. We will be back and will recommend to our friends
Food was great. Our waiter, Willie was fabulous!
Great food, good atmosphere and our sever Alexis was awesome!
So fresh and delicious! Service was great. Love the blueberry vodka drink.
Nice place to eat, service was wonderful our server was a very nice girl named Bunny. She was very helpful with the food.
Enjoyed the food and cocktails. Waiter was excellent and accommodating. Recommend this place.
Good was very good - once it arrived! Took 25 minutes to get drinks which were water and tea (bar seemed even slower). Asked the waiter after 50 minutes when our food would arrive as in 40 minutes we’re had to leave for an appointment. He grimaced and said he thought we would not be able to get our food in time. Somewhere after leaving the table to speak to the front desk staff food magically began to appear. All was very tasty. The ship and tuna are delicious. Portions are far for the price. Manager came to table, I explained our service issues, and very professionally she diffused the situation. It was well handled and the food was good. Just stay away from this waiter!
Had reservations, once we were seated I waited about 20 minutes before I felt compelled to get up and ask the host where our server was because none had stopped at our table since being seated. He was apologetic and gave us free appetizers and called it a miscommunication. The server came and was kind. The food was good. It was our first time there and the experience started off not so good but ended decently.
Great night with our friends! Everything we ordered was fantastic.
This restaurant is excellent for dining out with a group. The small plates menu allows diners to try a variety of dishes. The cocktail and wine list offer something for everyone.
Food, wine and sangria were fantastic. Server was appropriately attentive. Nice looking space. Unfortunately, they sat another party immediately next to us when there were other available tables. The tables are already close together, so, especially in a COVID-19 era, this was less than ideal.
We ordered 4 tapas to be shared with the two of us. 2 were EXCELLENT, 1 was good, and 1 was just ok.
We’ll be back to try this place again.
It was restaurant week, which I know is challenging for most restaurants. However, things quickly went off the rails when the flatbread had avocado all over the bottom (it was not an ingredient in the item), they ran out of multiple items and nearly all desserts.
The manager was nice in resolving a couple issues and we were given a $20 gift card to return, but it took 30 additional minutes to get our desserts to go and they were both missing ice cream.
The server then said “have a nice day” in a rushed time, which came across as insincere since it was 10:15 at night by that point.
Great service and good food
Great food and staff!
Great place for drinks and tapas. Loved the seafood paella.
We tried doing tapas style here but the food took forever and the server took forever to come back to ask what our next tapa would be. The food was good though when it did come out.
The food was fabulous! What a lovely time we had. Can't thank everyone enough.
Already planning our next trip!
Service was overworked. Nice but not attentive. Had to send a few dishes back. Food came out in a weird order. We were very disappointed.
The good was amazing and simply delicious. My wife and I truly enjoyed the tapas and the octopus salad was amazing.
The steak paella was really good. Big shoutout to the kitchen staff and their work.
However the service we got by the server was not good (no connection was made and we had to repeatedly flag him down for water.) he was very disconnected and more worried about another table. He checked on us once from a far. Again we do understand it was restaurant week and getting back in the flow pre Covid is difficult. Overall the place was amazing the hostess were nice and the overall atmosphere was amazing.
I’ll preface with the fact that it was Queen’s Feast restaurant week. That said, it was busy, but not that busy. A restaurant like this one should be accustomed to being busy on a Saturday evening.
The service is typically pretty good here. Usually attentive and focused without being overbearing. Tonight though the service was slow. We ordered a couple of small plates and a couple of drinks to start. They were delivered fairly promptly. We finished them at a regular pace. We had wanted to order some more food and another round of drinks. However, our server was nowhere to be seen for quite some time. We were going to pack it in and leave until the manager visited the table to ask if we wanted another round of drinks. So, still being hungry, I went ahead and ordered another round of tapas. The food itself was good, always is. But, it’s things like when water glasses are left empty, that’s just not great service. It’s the little things that separate good restaurants from the rest.
Food was good but Soul is a better small plates option with regard to both food and vibe.
Food was excellent. It was my 2nd time going and choosing from the prix fixe menu. Well worth the money, as I doubt you can get thru all 3 courses. Service was stellar. Drinks were delish. Bulla has fast become my fave brunch spot in Charlotte. HIGHLY recommend.
The food was tasty. Covered outdoor seating was an excellent option.
Enjoyable experience all the way around. Food was great as well as the service.
Great place to eat at would return again in the near future
We enjoyed our evening dining experience during restaurant week. It was very hectic for the staff, a few delays too however, the food was delicious, the staff is great a d the manager excellent.
Our foursome will return and we will return with additional friends for the patio seating also.
My husband and I enjoyed a date night during the Queen’s Feast week. The food was really outstanding, as was the service during what was probably their busiest night.
Great service, food and ambiance. Would highly recommend!
I had visited another Charlotte restaurant during , and it was amazing. I had such high hopes for Bulla, but I was very disappointed. My reservation for two was at 4:45, and we were seated right away. During the entire visit, the wait staff was very pleasant. For our first course, I ordered the Margherita flatbread, and my sister ordered the tuna tartare. The flatbread was tasty but not exceptional. The tuna tartare was absolutely outstanding. For our second course, I ordered Arroz Caldoso, and my sister ordered Chicken Valdeon. The Caldoso was fair at best. There were zero clams. The chicken had no flavor. The calamari was so gross. It was chewy and tasted "old." Not spoiled, just old. The shrimp were large and tasted fine. The sauce had virtually no flavor. Like, zero. The Caldoso dish had great potential, but it missed the mark. The Chicken Valdeon had potential, too, but it was over the top. Yes, the menu clearly states that bleu cheese is a main ingredient, but it shouldn't punch you in the face and obliterate the flavor of the other ingredients. My sister has a heart defect and is very sensitive to salt, so she was only able to eat a small portion due to the overwhelming sodium content of this dish. She took the remainder home, but it wouldn't surprise me if she throws it away. I took most of mine home to give to my husband, but when I got home, I tossed it as it'd be insulting to my husband. For the third course, I ordered coconut flan, and my sister ordered the churros with chocolate and carmel sauces. The coconut flan was, hands down, the best I've ever eaten. The churros were light and crispy, but they tasted of old grease, and the sauces were just ok. It wouldn't surprise me if there are squeeze bottles of Hershey's chocolate and carmel in the kitchen. A truly underwhelming dining experience.
Great food and excellent/very helpful waiter (Alexis). This was our first visit here and we will be back with friends and family in the near future.
The food was amazing. The manager and the waiter were fantastic.
We went for the Queen’s Feast dinner menu. The food was delicious, the outdoor seating area was really nice, and our server Alexis was excellent. He gave us some top notch recommendations on menu choices. Overall a great experience!
I went for Queen's Feast and I enjoyed the choices, really liked the service and loved the atmosphere there. It was very nice and although it was packed and I am sure they were trying to accommodate as many people as possible, the spacing between seats was really good. Did not here other people's conversations nor have to talk over people to engage with my dinner guest. Will definitely return.
We stopped in for lunch. The lunch menu has plenty of variety, the food was all delicious and the service from Alexis G was excellent. We'll go again next time we're in Charlotte!
The food was delicious and the staff were so friendly! So glad we were able to eat here during restaurant week and I look forward to going back many times!
Both dinners were overcooked and we didn't get one of the appetizers. Service was very poor and in general, Bulla was overpriced for the $$. Overall, disappointed. The one we visited in Tampa was so much better and set our expectations for the Charlotte site.
Food- excellent! Ambiance-laid back...great! Service...meh. Our server was just OK. He was not especially polished and I felt I had to really work to get his attention to order more drinks.
Utensils and plates are not replaced for consequential courses. Have to specifically ask for one. Everything else is great. Nice environment, tasty food and friendly staff.
