Great niche ambiance in a must try destination. My only issue is they were out of 50% of the menu when we tried to order. Food took forever to come out and the amazing, thought provoking drinks took FOREVER to come out. I am assuming maybe they were understaffed. I would go back but I would just plan on being there awhile.

This wasn't our first time, but the first time for lunch. The menu was limited and very different from the dinner menu. The food was good, the restaurant was crowded, as it was Father's day. The service was slow and yet it was good. Bull Valley Roadhouse is an eclectic experience at a higher price point, yet it's unusual enough to make one keep going back. The bar is exceptional with its "bitters"and unique drink selections. This restaurant will stay on my "to do" list every sfo often.

Pre pandemic we used to go a lot. It was very good, the food and the service and they have the option of family style meals meaning we can order just one or two options and the whole family share. That is gone and probably the restaurant has a new owner. Things are very different now. They have a menu that looks pretentious because it doesn’t delivered what it promises specially that the prices are so high that you would expect top notch food. My husband and my friend both ordered the fry chicken and it was overcooked very dark looking, the seasoning was ok but nothing special, the corn bread was the only good thing, it was delicious. The husband of my friend asked for the brisket sandwich and the whole thing looks lame with a bread that looked from a hamburger place, also my friend said nothing special. I ordered the Halibut because it was local and I like fish and it was very good, well cooked and seasoning but so an small piece and came with a side of three asparagus, yes, three what take me to my next comment, only one side in the entree, a little one and for $45 I would expect two at least. Yes you can order sides apart and also they charge you for the bread and the butter so overall the whole experience was mediocre and dissatisfying. The restaurant has a history, the building has its glamour if you love vintage ( circa 1897) as I do but across the street in Fridays and Saturday nights you have good steaks and lobster at the Warehouse. The waiter looked busy because she wasn’t much into our table or if we need something else I think she asked only one time. I didn’t have the vibe that she was happy waiting tables, she looks like she would have preferred doing something else, she wasn’t into it and it showed. I understand it had been difficult for businesses after the pandemic so I try to be the more objective possible. Definitely things has to change, maybe it is not a person who owns the restaurant but a corporation because that it’s how it felt, anonymity.

Great place in Port Costa, an eclectic little town time forgot. The food was good. The service was excellent as was the ambience. The prices were very high for what we received. It’s definitely a place to do something occasionally, that is different.

Went for Sunday brunch. Outdoor space is very nice on a warmer day. The roasted brussels sprouts with calabrian chile vinaigrette was a big favorite and the food was delicious. Only a minor comment from one of our party that the pulled pork had a few inedible pieces, but otherwise the sandwich was good. The young water server was very friendly and nice; the waiter provided good service.
