Argentina-raised John Rattagan was the family grill master from an early age, in a country where the asado (barbecue) enjoys near sacred status. Luckily for London, he left his homeland as a young man and set up Buen Ayre in the heart of trendy Hackney. The headline act is the steaks, served in a range of cuts with a simple garnish. Food was good in general, rib eye has a nice sweetness in the meat and the the chimchurri accompanying is tasty, and the salsa pebre is a great addition. However, the caprese salad and fries to go as a side shows up 15 minutes after the steak arrived after chasing the staff a 4 times. They described it as a "catastrophic failure" of their ticketing system but we saw another table get their meat and sides while we were waiting for our sides. We didn't want to stay for dessert after this or finish our bottle wine.

It never ceases to amaze me how amazing the steak is in here. In fact everything I have ever eaten in here has been next level! Great staff and small friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Such a welcoming place! The staff are so nice and make you feel at home. The food is so delicious and portions are great for sharing. The employees treat each other like family and is also extended to the customers at the restaurant. I would totally recommend Buen Ayre to anyone in London looking to feel like an escape into the warm Latin culture of Argentina.

Had a great night here for birthday celebrations with friends. Waitress was fantastic. Food and wine great. Everyone had a good time.
