Very expensive for amount of food you get. We ordered Chicken Limone $38 for 3 pieces of chicken nothing else. Meatball Rollato $27 for 6 pieces of stuffed pizza. Very noise atmosphere and we reserved an outdoor table but was told that they accommodated a party of 10 so our table is not available. Also had large Caesar salad $40. Food was ok but not as good as before. Will not be coming back. $250 for the 5 of use plus tip. Better places to go.

The food was amazing. The service was okay as we had to wait over 45 minutes for our food when we were one of the first people in our section. The bartender took care of us as we waited so long . We tipped him well.

Upon arrival, host said he would seat us in a minute. 15 minutes later, he's walking out the door with his stuff and we're still waiting to be seated. Next shift host asked if we were being helped. Ummm...I guess not. Seated right away in the noisy bar. Seems like each time we go to Buca, the price increased. Went because we had coupon, which made it manageable.

Josh was our server and was very attentive and nice. Stuffed mushrooms were delicious. We also enjoyed Eggplant Parmigiano, cheesy bread and a Penne pasta dish with peas, sundried tomatoes, chicken and artichokes.

We celebrated my sons birthday there and the server who came over to sing spilled my husbands ice water all over him. Never apologized and just said yikes. Well that happened. He was soaked and cold from all the water. A whole glass of ice cold water. I was disgusted at her response and how she acted when it happened. Not that I expected anything to be done for the check, nothing was, but no one even apologized not our server nor the girl who spilled it. Pretty insane how little remorse or accountability for her mistake. Hiring young people isn’t a bad thing. However teaching life skills about accountability doesn’t seem to happen anymore. We used to come here often. Aside from the food being okay it ruined the whole experience. We aren’t going back.

The Buca staff is great and friendly. It's a bit pricey for pasta but it's Hawaii so everything is expensive here. The food is good though and better than the other well known Italian food chain. The house red Rosso wine is tasty and reasonably priced. We always get a carafe to share.

This review has a couple caveats: 1. we dined in the kitchen, 2. we had 2 birthdays to celebrate. There is no more fun place to eat with family/friends than Buca's. I've always been a fan of this restaurant for the longest, and I've still yet to have a bad experience. There was 4 in our party and right off the bat they were accommodating by letting us dine in the kitchen, which is an awesome experience. It's loud and hectic, but the staff manages to still give you attention and be very friendly. Our servers (John, JS) were very professional and conversational, giving us tips and ensuring our orders were put in and brought out timely. Excellent, excellent service, and it's obvious that they enjoy what they do. We ordered so much food as our eyes were bigger than our tummies, so we had a lot of leftovers, but so be it, it's expected. It was a hefty bill, but worth the occasion and experience. Everyone was so friendly and warming and welcoming. Best time had, thanks Buca!

So very disappointed. I set this reservation at least several weeks ago and it was a very important family reunion. We had plans at 9:30 so we set a 7 PM reservation. We scheduled it for six people for an outdoor seating. They gave away our seat to someone else, despite the fact that we were there. We ended up waiting over half an hour, which caused us to rush through dinner. We were seated indoors, not outdoors as requested. I purposely made the reservation so far in advance, so that we could have The ambience, experience, and time to enjoy this very special occasion that cannot be redone. So very disappointing.

I was taking a friend out for her birthday and she chose Buca because she enjoyed it the last time she visited from Canada. We ordered an appetizer trio which included calamari and also a pasta dish. The calamari was so rubbery we couldn't eat it and sent it back. The remaining appetizers were fine. Our pasta came out and it was room temperature at best. Since we had already sent the calamari back we didn't want to fluster the server yet again. We ate some of it and requested to take the remaining pasta home so we could heat it up properly later. The second calamari came out and it was cooked exactly as before rubbery so we did not eat it or ask to take it with us. The server was very nice and the staff did their birthday song and gave her a small dish of ice cream. All in all very dissappointed in the food. This is the 3rd time in a row that main course food I ordered has come out room temperature. The food was delivered quickly so you wonder why should it only e room temperature??? I use to go to Buca all the time but after these three experiences I would hesitate to return with guests so as not to worry they would again be disappointed in the food.

Delicious authentic Italian, large family size share dishes, great vintage design. Really enjoyed all of the photos and vintage memorabilia covering the walls. Loved the white Sangria :) we had the lasagne plate to share for 2 of us and it was way more than we could eat. Probably the best lasagne I've tasted! All staff very attentive and a special mention to our waitress Peggy who was so lovely.

First time in Hawaii. This place was definitely well worth the money. The portion size is amazing. OUR WAITER, CAMILO WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! His recommendations were spot on. I’ve already searched for one near me on the main land.

Horrible from the start. Food arrived before the drinks or water. Then wine arrived after food was finished. And THEN the server brought a check out with an overcharge for asking for cheese on the side of the salad and also an extra glass of wine. I had to have bill adjusted 3 times. When I pointed out that I was charged for 2 glasses of wine instead of one, they removed my glass and left the more expensive wine on the bill and tried to argue that it was the “same”. Awful service and overpriced. Won’t be back

I was very disappointed with foods and services. Fried calamari was no flavor and meatball pasta was dry and not enough sauce. I think fried calamari was precooked, so they just put it in a microwave to get warm? Pasta sauce was good. However, pasta was a lot but sauce was a little, it was unbalanced. I won’t go back to the restaurant.

In fairness, this restaurant is really meant for groups. As two people dining here, it was outrageously expensive. The chicken parmesan was enough for two people (3 large pieces) and did not come with a common side, pasta. To add pasta to that dish, one would have to order the spaghetti at $30, making the dish complete at $66 (the chicken parm was $36). The lasagna was huge, and appeared to be at least 3 x the usual, individual size. So, if you are a couple, and you do not want to share a dish, I would not recommend this restaurant. Yes, you could get appetizers which were less pricey but they aren't dinner. The drinks were an average price considering today's inflated prices everywhere. We were headed to a movie after, so taking a lot of leftovers with us was not feasible. Our bill was over $100. Didn't expect that this restaurant. The restaurant was virtually empty and staff were hanging around chatting together, eating their dinner or getting soda refills for themselves. It was nice to see workers getting along, but it was also concerning that they had so little to do that it was a social event for them too.

It was slow when we were there but why we have to ask everything what we need. The server was keep talking with coworkers. We wave but she was really into talking that they don’t even look at us. When she serve the foods, no word. Terrible service.

The service was not very good. Took a long time to seat us when it wasn't that busy w/reservations I might add. Server took a while to greet us and drop waters for 7 young girls and 3 dads. And when we suggested family style for the kids she put in an order off the catering menu or something. Enough food to feed 10 adults not kids (little exaggeration). Will think twice when looking for Italian in the area.

The food, price, and service are always great here. The problem is trying to gauge how much food your family really needs with a family style dining menu. I’m not trying to take 1/2 of what we order home because it’s too much. I wish the waiter/waitress would mention something, but that could eat into their tips. Overall 8/10 the kids love the ambiance.

First time visiting this restaurant (Honolulu) and was a bit disappointed; however, we were seated earlier than our reservation time and the servers were quick and helpful throughout the evening. The disappointing part was the restaurant was out of lasagna. This was a Friday night, 6pm dinner reservation and considering it's an Italian Restaurant you would thing this is one dish they would definitely avoid running out of.
