BRIO Tuscan Grille - Austin - Arboretum
There are so many great choices at Brio, and they're all scrumptious. After much discovery, their lamb chops are by far the best, good enough for a special occasion.
We forgot to make a dinner reservation for New Year's Eve and ended up at BRIO because they were nearby and had tables available. We were seated right away and our waiter promptly took our drink order. The Aperol spritz was strange, not sure what they're doing differently than what I do at home, but I prefer my recipe. We ordered the red pepper bruschetta as an appetizer and it was very tasty.
My husband had the spaghetti pomodoro and I had the pollo caprese. Everything was acceptable, but nothing was exceptional. When we compared notes at the end of the meal, we discovered that we had each had the thought that we could have easily prepared these dishes ourselves at home and done a better job.
Our server seemed inexperienced and overeager. He referred to us as Milord and Milady. *eye roll* He was very quick to refill our wine glasses, but extremely slow to remove empty plates and glasses... our appetizer plates sat on the table for most of the rest of our meal.
I had the lemon ricotta cheesecake for dessert and it was not good. Cheesecake is supposed to have a rich, creamy, velvety texture... this cheesecake was dry and grainy and way too lemony. My husband had fresh berries in a sweet cream sauce, and it was outstanding, by far the best part of our meal. Unfortunately, a piece of red onion was hiding at the bottom of the glass and that incredibly unpleasant surprise became the avatar for our experience.
Definitely not recommended. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation in advance at a better restaurant.
We expected higher quality food, this place needs to up their game. I couldn’t eat my Lasagna, I tried. My wife boxed up the chicken Marsala and threw it out when she got home. Too bad, apparently they don’t have a good management. I kept telling my wife “look, there’s nobody in here” this was at 5:40pm.
My stuffed chicken parm was raw. Ate half of my chicken when I flipped it and saw one entire half was raw. Disgusting. Now I will be sick on Christmas! Unacceptable and irresponsible to be running a restaurant like this to the public.
Sadly service and food have fallen immensely. We brought a couple of issues to the manager and were rebuffed. Clearly this place needs a new GM to drive a culture of service first.
This was my first time here. I ordered chicken Marsala. It arrived with a rubbery texture. The waitstaff sent it back. She was very helpful. The second dish had the same rubber texture and also tasted strange.
Very poor food quality especially for the price.
Took my staff there for a holiday luncheon. We had a reservation but they weren't ready for us and seemed like they didn't have enough people working. Because they didn't have the table I requested they put us at a high-top at the back of the bar which was mostly OK but the server said she had never waited on a "big topper" by herself and it was only her second week there which showed.
They ran out of Lasagna .
Had lunch Sunday afternoon and we asked to be seated inside because it was hot and humid outside. The doors of the restaurant were wide open so it was hot and humid inside. The salmon salad that I had was overpriced and plain. The only good thing about lunch was Rachel, our server, who was outstanding.
They forgot our table completely for 30 minutes. Then went to find our waiter....then forgot us for another 15. Seems like they pulled a bartender possibly, who was doing his best but also seemed like he had way too many tables. We saw him periodically. Ordered a main entree pasta dish, got some dried overcooked pasta on effectively a small salad plate for $24. Took us 3 hours to get out of there.
Used to be good....dont bother at this point
Everything was exceptional. Service, food, awesome.
While the waitress was very nice it took 30 minutes to get our drinks and we were never asked if we wanted to order another drink. We were there for over 2 1/2 hours. Some of our food was luke warm at best but no one wanted to send anything back as everything took way to long
I have enjoyed Brio for many years. The food is always good to excellent. However, this time our service was very poor. I had to chase down the waiter for our change, and the dishes took forever for delivery to our table. I suspect the area was short staffed.
Some dishes could have used more sauce
Food was very good. Biggest issue was the service. Waited 15 minutes to get our bill back after it was taken along with the credit card. When the bill was brought back it was the original, without the credit card or the receipt for signature. Then we couldn’t find the waiter again. Asked another server for assistance. He located our server who ran around in a panic for 10 minutes trying to locate the bill and credit card. He finally returned with an excuse that made no sense and almost seemed like he was acting as though it was our fault. Ruined what could have been a nice dining experience. We had a better experience when we dined here previously.
Lunch for 14 team members. Appetizers and entree both very good. Staff was attentive but not in the wat
The hostess was very nice. The food was OK. My water glass was never refilled.
Very good for every day dining
It can b very loud when it is crowded
Great service by Robert. We had good time with friends
Entree was good, spinach and artichoke dip wasn’t that great. Not sure if it had blue cheese, smelled super pungent. If it does have blue cheese, I think they should disclose that on the menu.
Birthday dinner - they took the cake we bought to the back, they were slow on drink refills, flatbread was not hot, left one of our orders off, so one person was not served. Cake came out with chunks of icing missing. I doubt we will dine there again.
The food was amazing but our server forgot multiple items we ordered.
Service was atrocious. Staff there had no desire to be there, more less serve their patrons. Seated promptly then no one waited on us, until I eventually went to host stand (more than 20min in total wait time at table). Although many waiters walked past us. Food was flavorful, appealing, and matched menu description. Ambience was diminished heavily by having sports TVs in entry area and visible to dining room, as well as having bar area too close to dining area. When finally served no apologies, comps, just are you ready to order!! Would not recommend!
Very bad service. No one came to give us water or greet us after being seated for 10 minutes. Saw the waiter 3 times throughout the dinner. He seemed rushed and overwhelmed. Pretty clear they’re understaffed or poorly trained.
Our waiter, Frank at Table 42 was awesome and food delicious. As always.
Food was great, drinks were great and we liked the new lunch options.
Jordan was an outstanding server! Food was excellent as always
We had a friend here from out of town. He is a vegetarian. The wait staff accomodated his diet requirements. The food was fabulous as was the wait staff.
Great option for brunch, but watch out for the French toast as it may be more sugar content than one person can handle!
Awaiting Open Table credit.
Easy and reliable reservations, very good service and value.
Hostess dis not have our Open Table Rez and was rude and dismissive. Showed her the Rez, and she was still dismissive. Rude.
I come in often but today left A LOT to be desired! We had a reservation, showed up on time and although there were no more than 5 tables seated I was told it would take a few more minutes. I went outside since I had my husband & dog out there. We waited 12 minutes in 95 degree weather and the hostess didn’t even bother to come out, sit us not bring menus or water. I had to come in and tell the manager who defended the hostess!!!
Thank goodness Matt & a blue shirted manager took care of us very nicely.
was looking forward to this place and it was ok overall. The appetizers and drinks were good but the main entree was bland which was disappointing.
The service and quality of the food was excellent. The server was particularly great! Definitely will dine there again in the near future and recommend to friends and family.
I will be back to try more dishes because the food is delicious!!!
Good food. Very accommodating of our little kids.
Ordered 5 items for 4 people plus drinks. One good, 2 ok, 2 poor. Very loud at 6:30 then less so later. Too many better places in Austin.
