The Brigantine is more than just home to some of San Diego’s finest seafood. It’s a place where locals and visitors alike come to share a lively atmosphere and authentic sense of community. The Morton family opened the first Brigantine on Shelter Island in 1969, with a vision that embraced the beach town lifestyle, a dedication to flavorful food, and a passion for friendly service.

Today, we’re known far and wide for our San Diego-style surf and turf. From our award-winning fish tacos and freshly shucked oysters, to classic filet mignon or our perpetually best-selling marinated grilled swordfish. Always prepared to exceed expectations, and served with a smile. You can stop in at any neighborhood Brigantine and get a taste of the local flavor, from regionally inspired specials, to custom cocktails and home town craft beers. At the Brigantine we make first timers feel like regulars, and consider regulars part of the family. So come by often, and share our taste for life.

The food was very very good to me and my date. However, make sure get the table that has lighting so you can view the menu at least. I had to use my phone light to view. It would have been ideal to have some candles at the darker tables as I understand the ambient lighting but is was pretty dark where we sat. Other than that everything else was great.

The food was mediocre. The oysters Rockefeller were strangely different temperatures throughout the bite, and the aioli was globbed on making them gross and lose the flavor of the oyster. The rye old fashioned was mostly simple syrup with a hint of whiskey, and the rest of the meal was just “meh” overall. Service was fantastic though! Steven was great! The restaurant was noisy, but mostly because there was a larger rowdy group of drunk people behind us. So much for a nice night out.

So good that we ate here twice whilst in SD for 3 nights. Beautiful setting on the water with outstanding seafood - had the shrimp, scallops, halibut and calamari and all dishes were amazing. Excellent wines as well. Only minor criticism was that sides of vegetables did not come with our entrees but otherwise this is great casual dining experience.

This is our first time to San Diego for our nephew’s wedding. I found Brigantine (thankfully) big researching seafood restaurants. Winner! What an amazing experience. The food was delicious! Our server Kaitlyn was so nice, helpful and is very good. So attentive and knowledgeable. We loved her. Ambience was amazing. Beautiful sunset. Five Stars for sure!!!

Always a treat to have a table outside with the SD Bay water view. Love hosting friends from out of town here. Staff, service, food as always were on point. We will be back soon.

I did not like the clams and the curry sauce. Destroyed the toast is the steamed clams!

Great dining experience on the water. We requested a waterside table on the reservation app to celebrate a big birthday and they read the notes and made it happen! Had the sea bass special and would recommend it!

Didn’t know our servers name, Lukas, until he brought the bill. He never advised of the nightly specials. Lukas keep disappearing. The food was inconsistent between tables. It seems if no one at your table was having adult beverage, your food was over done and cold. The lobster tacos were over done, the French fried and vegetables were cold and greasy. Shrimp and grits, shrimp were warm, grits were cold. Fish and chips, the fish was over cooked and cold and fries were cold and greasy. Not sure I would ever go back.
